Wow.
Greg Little stands a great chance of being a 1000 yard receiver this coming year. He had 700+ yards with an ineffective Colt McCoy throwing the ball. I think that he will be far better this coming year.
Little put up 700 yards as a rookie. What would he have had to do to be a good pick in your eyes?
Maybe if Little actually, I don't know, CATCHES the ball he'll look better. As of now, he's he has to improve to be merely average in this league.

I really hope that you don't have a stoke if Weeden comes in and throws for like 4000 yards this year to our "crappy" receivers.

Dude, you are really setting yourself up for heartbreak.
I agree with you that Weeden will help to improve our offense, but we're talking about a second-tier prospect who's going to be thrown into the fire as a rookie. Not to mention that he's going to have Shurmur as an OC.
He's going to struggle. We're more likely than not - or we should - rely on Richardson as the focal point of the offense and hope that Weeden can manage.

When I say the Browns are the odds on favorite for the number 1 pick next year, that's not my opinion.
That's what the Las Vegas sportsbooks are saying.
We are the only 150 to 1 team to win the Superbowl.
Everyone else has better odds.
With that said I hope the Browns shock me and the rest of the football world and make a big leap.
To me I believe it's completely dependant on Wheedon lighting it up.
If he fails (IF! I'm not rooting for that) then we're at the top of the draft in 2013.
If that happens then I just might stop paying for the privilege of watching this crap.

Odds to win the SB, and Odds to get the #1 pick are two different things...
But I'm sure you knew that...
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

1) Guy's a first round pick and had he been a couple years younger would have been a top five pick. I don't see how he's a "Second Tier Prospect". Forget that the guy is 28, imagine he's 22. Is he still a second tier prospect? I can understand the idea that value wise, he might be second tier.
But going into next year, I think he'll improve his game the way that any of the other rookie QBs will. They'll continue to improve their craft (it's not like he's 28, and since the age of 18 has focused on football) and they'll face better defenses, which will probably in-change create a situation where they'll have to get better.
Kind of like playing tennis against a weaker opponent. You really don't get better that way, you get better by facing stronger competition and having to challenge yourself to improve your game.
2) Brad Childress is the OC this year, not Shurmur. Shurmur will call the plays, but Childress will be the one doing the majority of work putting together the game plans.

Forget that Colt McCoy is a terrible starting QB, imagine he's a stud with a pinpoint rocket arm.
And his age - while it certainly contributes - isn't the driving factor in him being second-tier. He's second-tier because he's second-tier. The first-tier in this draft was Luck and Griffin. Weeden was a second-tier guy. Guys like Foles and Osweiler were third-tier.
I mean, if you see him in the class of a Luck or a Manning or a Roethlisberger, that's your call. But I don't. People have continually cited Big Ben or Cam or other spread guys that had to transition into the league, and I don't see Weeden on that level.
None of his attributes are elite. In no way is he a first-tier QB prospect.
Could he end up being a great NFL QB? Sure, that's possible. But it will be as a second-tier prospect beating the long odds against him (which does happen).

I will say this: Cribbs has improved in leaps and bounds over the last 3 years as a WR. I really think that the Travis Benjamin pick relieves Cribbs of his return duties, at least on punts.

Greg Little has a great chance of being a 1000 yard receiver? What do you base this statement on? Just more bloviating without anything to back it up again? Just because you hope that it happens, doesn't mean that it will. Besides, it could be McCoy throwing the ball to him again. Maybe it'll be Thaddeus Lewis.
If you think that anyone except Brandon Weeden will be our starting QB I am afraid that you're fooling yourself. They didn't bring him in to sit.
Greg Little put up 700 yards with an AWFUL starting QB last year. Colt McCoy was one of the very worst starting QBs in the NFL last year.
Greg Little still had 709 yards and 2 TD last year.
He had almost 200 of those yards and 1 of those TDs in the final 3 games. That was with Wallace at QB in place of McCoy. So in 13 games with Colt McCoy he put up about 500 or so yards and 1 TD. Then he had 200 and a TD in just 3 games with a different QB. Yeah, I expect him to be better with a QB who throws the ball down the field..

Cribbs has improved as a receiver - but he's still not good in the overall picture.
Why do people want to "relieve" him from his forte - returning, in order to caste him as something he's not?
I don't understand it.
I would love to see Cribbs return to his heyday as a return specialist. While he does an admirable job as a receiver - why take him away from his strong point?

He's clearly lost a step over the years. I would not relieve him from returning kick offs for the simple reason that he has great vision and a knack for finding holes. Will he be a #1 receiver or even a #2? No. But he has made some pretty good plays and put us in postions to score points with physical receiving play over the last 2 years.

Fair enough, if you don't think he has the actual skills to be a "first tier", that's fair.
I'm just saying that he will improve like any QB would next season, and that his age won't be a negative effect on how he performs next year verses any other rookie.
You told Ytown that next year he will be let down because Weeden is a 2nd tier prospect, just wanted to make sure it's because of more than his age.
I think Weeden's pretty good. He's got a great arm. He's mature and can handle that transition to the NFL (which other players can't always). The real negatives I hear about his game is that he came from OkState's spread system (but RG3 came from a spread too.......) and that he doesn't throw well when people start getting in his face and that he isn't that experienced taking snaps under center insteada shotgun. I think this is all stuff which can be corrected.
I just have a good feeling about him. I just wish we could have gotten him a weapon. There's really no stand-out match up advantage option on this offense. This Andy Dalton had last year. Weeden's really going to have to pick this offense up quick and work to find guys open. We don't have AJ Green to chuck the ball to.
We shall see. But I do wish we had one or two real receiving targets. Like a good WR and a good TE. May be Greg Little will explode

So, what you're saying is that our receivers still suck. Little was a reach in the second round. Could we have been better off drafting someone else with that selection? Hell yeah!
I don't want to burst anyone's bubbles, but you don't take a WR who was converted from RB and had been out of football for a year in the second round when players who are natural WRs are undrafted.
IMHO, Greg Little already is a busted pick.

I think he could be good, too. I really do.
But the odds aren't high. Too high to make the investment we did.
My point about him being second tier was directed towards YTown's (and others ) lofty expectations.
We will be very, very lucky if he turns out to be pretty good.
He has better odds than BQ, Frye, Colt, etc. ... but that isn't saying much.

Our WR's?
Should they try to bring back Braylon Edwards? I think it would be great, aside from some comments about the fans or something, I've always liked Braylon.
Should they try to sign Cedric Benson Rb, who started for Cincinnati last year? I think it would be great also.
Hey ? If everyone keeps tellin Richardson how great he is, what will he have to prove?

Well, that's true.
I don't recall Little dropping a single pass from Wallace in those last 3 games from Little. Does anyone else?

Don't know the answer to that but who cares? A drop is a drop. If the ball hits you in the hands and you don't catch it, it doesn't matter who throws it.
Little needs to learn to consistently catch the ball. Period.

How quickly we forget that Little was a converted WR from running back in college and missed an entire year of football. He did well considering all of that.

I think Little is going to be good, and I think he will take a step forward this year.
But I also think you guys are raising the expectation levels a little high and will be disappointed.
He's a talent, but he doesn't do anything exceptionally well. His ceiling is probably Boldin, and that's pretty damn good, but I believe that's his ceiling. He would make an awesome #2 as does Boldin. We are still missing that truly dynamic #1, and I just don't think he can become that.
Maybe in this offense we don't need that truly dynamic guy, but I believe we will see this play out this season and know for sure where we stand on Little.

I say that mostly in jest as he was a bigger part of the team the entire season, but it's still gotta be in the backs of our minds after we have seen guys like Suggs, Harrison, and Robiskie have their surges to close a year and then never be heard from again.

I hope he becomes a solid reliable wide reciever for us for a long time but people need to stop acting like he dropped balls because of Colt, he dropped a lot of balls for one reason.. he dropped the ball.

I like Little a lot, his game still needs to mature, but I think when we find ourselves a #1 receiver, he is going to eat defenses alive. He's so big and strong that it's like having a tight end out there.
Who knows, the good quarterbacks seem to make unkown guys into better receivers than they are. So if Weeden steps it up, we may be able to find someone we wouldn't have thought.
