From former Redskins G.M. Vinny Cerrato, now of 105.7 The Fan in Baltimore, comes the latest stunner in one of the most stunning offseasons in NFL history.

Per Cerrato, Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs has torn an Achilles tendon.

A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that the Ravens have not yet received a conclusive diagnosis. Still, for now, it doesn’t look good.

And it won’t look good for the Ravens if they have to proceed without the 2011 defensive player of the year.

It’s also a stark reminder that, no matter how good a team looks on paper, it can all fall apart, quickly.

Making matters worse for the Ravens is the timing. If this had happened a week ago, they could have adjusted their draft plans accordingly.

Really, Ref3? Was that so out of bounds? We going G-rated around here man? You know you loved it.

I don't know. I really feel like he never had too much of an impact against us since he usually rushes Thomas' side. I may not remember correctly though.

They're even luckier they had Upshaw fall to them now. He's no Suggs but he can definitely help fill the void a bit.

I was about to say the same thing. The article mentions them adjusting their draft plans, but they already drafted one guy for that slot, would they have taken two high up? I doubt that.

Following some of these players on twitter, a lot of them talk about playing hoops. I'm surprised these injuries don't happen more often.

Reggie Hodges talked about playing hoops all last summer on twitter. Then he tore his achilles on his first punt of TC last year.

To be fair, they have to stay in shape....and running on a treadmill, exercising, playing basketball and all that pose risks for potential injury.

I understand saying to motorcycles, skateboarding, rock climbing and such....but basketball? They guys should be able to do that as exercise.

Nothing to do with a G-Rating. No smack in this forum. And yes, I enjoyed it.

Suggs is 30 years old this year. He'll recover, but this will likely cause him to lose a step that he'll never get back. For a pass rusher like him, it's a killer.

Sucks for him ..... and for them.

I don't see any way that a rookie will give them what he does. There will be a dropoff in performance.

Man, parts of their defense are starting to get old. Hopefully they start dropping off in performance as we start to improve.

I don't like it when anybody gets hurt.

In the end, it's not their fault we suck, so I don't celebrate when something happens that weakens them.

Exactly.. I'd rather have the Steelers and Ravens stay right where they are and we rise up and beat them then to have them need to get worse so we can beat them...

But until 2020, I'll not shed a tear if one of the opposing players does something really stupid to take himself out of the game.

I liked Upshaw, and I think he'll fill in for them. Just our luck.

Probably a condition of his contract that he's not paid if he injuries himself doing something away from the training facility. So... make it sound like it was a work related injury.

Eh, who cares, really. They've never had any problems with pounding our 5th string QBs into the ground. Part of fielding a team is having guys to step up in situations like this. No pride lost in beating a team that's missing a good player due to injury.
