Ugh, such a depressing ending.
Andrea plays a major role with her sniping skills in the comic and has not been killed off yet. So disappointing that her character didn't get a chance to develop on the tv show in a similar way.

Totally redeeming episode for the entire season, IMO.
Man, just awesome. I'm torn on Andrea, but someone had to go in this episode and she was probably in my top 3 of who I couldn't stand. She made her own bed. There was no way she was escaping it.
Interesting ending in that you have zero idea what direction the next season is going to go.
But I thought it was an awesome finale.

The governor could really use some anger management classes. I assume he'll be back next season.
I was surprised to see Andrea go, but you just cant play both sides of the fence. That was so well done. My wife and I both were saying shut up and get working on that chair!
I expected more from the prison battle.

I'm curious where the Governor and his 2 henchmen went after the massacre.
They obviously didn't go back to the town, as Rick and the group had to have gotten there long after he would have, and to find Andrea, gather all the other people, load up the bus and drive out, and never cross paths with the Governor?
They could have so easily set up an ambush in that prison and picked off the governor and his troops like fish in a barrel.
Carl annoys the hell outta me, I would have b-slapped that kid a million times by now.
As much as I hated Merle, I thought his character really added unpredictability to the show, so I was sad to see him killed off last week.
Andrea I always thought was a snob, who thought she was a tough girl, but when times got tough she crumbled.
Kind of bummed the season is over already, not sure I like the split season concept, as just when you get really back into they take a break.

I felt it was just a great episode, just so many twists and turns. So many things had me on the edge of my seat. When The Gov grabbed that gun to give Tyree, I thought stuff was about to jump off.
I think a few people predicted Tyree to join the group.
The stuff with Carl was an interesting side story is he going to turn on the old folks who came over from Woodberry?

Is it just me or are the zombies starting to be kinda funny? Its like, "Oh no, a zombie is chasing me. I better run ... as soon as I finish this sandwich, pee, wash my hands, and tie my shoes.".

I noticed that too, and wondered if it was intentional. Like to show how accustomed to the zombies everyone is becoming.

When they were beating on the pots and pans to draw the walkers away from the gate, it reminded me of the "Messin' With Sasquatch" commercials.

There's something to be said about getting into a show once the series is actually over and you can watch it on Netflix or something similar. You can just chew through them.
Going to be a long wait until October.

I agree, but avoiding spoilers can be difficult when most of the people I work with watch it as well and it gets a lot of water cooler discussion around here.

Yeah I was disappointed in Andrea getting her pink slip. I liked looking at her. Hot woman with a gun! I laughed at the posts earlier about becoming Zombies. The little question in the back of my mind wonders how there can be "dead" people in wrecked cars who don't have holes in their heads. Wouldn't you either be a zombie or be zombie poo?
Anyway...love the show. I like where they are going with Carl. As far as the last episode, I thought it was a little anti-climatic. I think they should have made a 2 hour finale. Stuff went to quick. The Governor's army reminded me of Monty Python and the Holy Grail and the killer rabbit scene. As soon as they attack it's "Run away! Run away!" Also wasn't so happy with them taking in all the refugees. Isn't a baby enough of an ankle weight already? I guess after callously leaving the hiker on the road in the prior episode and getting ripped into by Hershel, Rick had to try to be a better person, set some better examples for Carl and go back into Sheriff mode.
Do we see The Gov again? I say yes, but not until the second half of season 3.

That was one of the worst season finales ever. We were set up for a big confrontation between Rick and The Governor and we got nothing. Half the episode was Andrea fumbling with some pliers.

I was much happier with the drama and the tension that to watch some silly drawn out battle scene at the prison.
I think that show last night was masterfully done.

The only drama and tension was Andrea strapped in the chair and those scenes were horrendous.

The drama of her trying to figure of the nerdy dude was dead yet, the drama of him coming awake and thinking he may be a zombie but he was really still alive. All sorts of stuff happened that you didn't see coming, and things you thought were going to happen, didn't.
Did you see the governor killing most of his people?

I thought it was alright. It seemed like I just kept waiting for something to happen though.
My one question is why would they bring them to a place that just got destroyed when they could easily just take over that city again, which has a lot more room, supplies, and is essentially just as secure as the prison? Just load your crew on the bus and Rick can be the new leader of that town.

The Governor attacked an empty prison.
Andrea died after being strapped to a chair and tortured.
Milton was killed for being a traitor.
The Governor is crazy and killed a bunch of people.
None of that is surprising.

I'm not the one who wanted to be surprised. That was the previous poster.
I feel like I bought a Pay-Per-View fight with main event in mind and there ended up being no fight.
I was on the verge of fast fowarding through the scenes with Andrea. They were excruciating to watch.

I didn't want to be surprised, I was surprised.
if you weren't, then good for you.
I was surprised when the Gov turned on hos own army.
I was surprised when they showed the Gov torturing someone in the chair who I thought was Andrea and it turned out to be the nerdy guy.
I was surprised when Tyree told the Gov he was staying and the Gov turned and grabbed a rifle that he handed it to Tyree, I thought he was going to attempt to kill him.
There were a few other things, but I have been up since 3 am and nedd to go to bed, so my memory isn't working all that good right now.

The only thing I can think of is that the town has a bigger area to protect, and now that most of the able bodied people were killed by the govcrnor, making it harder to defend.
But I do agree, they town had water, farming, some electricity, and more comfortable accomodations.

Anticlimatic. Governor & company bail because of some fireworks & small band of people firing at them.
I didn't hate Andrea. Respected her desire to prevent the living killing each other. Even when she thought she could make a difference without killing the Governor in his sleep.
However, the actress wasn't the best. Played the character pretty annoying.

Why watch if you hate it so much? I don't understand why you put yourself through it. There are plenty of shows that I use to watch, that I stopped because they became bad (Community). There are plenty of people on this board that like Walking Dead. Then you come in here and start trashing it, but you still watch. I never understand that.
I had a friend who went to see the Star Trek movie when it came out, and the first thing he did was go online and start trashing it. He picked it apart for everything he could find. Then he went back and saw it 3 more times. I put the same question to you that I did to him, Why watch it if it's so bad?
Because the show has just enough potential to be great but it continues to fall short. And that's what frustrates me. I keep at it because i'm hoping it gets better and i'm patient enough to give it time.

Curious what folks think of the first few episodes of the new season?
To me, kinda slow so far and the story line hasn't gone anywhere.

Posted without comment... Dr. Manny: America's obsession with 'The Walking Dead' is hurting our society By Dr. Manny Alvarez http://www.foxnews.com/health/2013/10/17...tcmp=latestnewsIs watching “The Walking Dead” seriously hurting American society? I would argue ‘Yes.’ Hate me all you want, or call me paranoid and misinformed, but there is one common theme that is pervasive in American pop culture today: violence. Even more specifically, zombie violence. The idea of a zombie-infested world inspires fantasies of monsters possessed by an uncontrollable rage to kill, and viewers get a thrill imagining what it would be like to participate in this new world order. We also see this zombie obsession in many videogames. Even more disturbingly, these games create environments for young children, in which they are exposed to an imaginary world where they get to play with firearms and place themselves in dangerous situations that they find exciting. And studies have shown that these videogames can sometimes condition people, especially young children, to be apathetic towards violence. That’s why they’re labeled M for Mature. This obsession with the undead in television and other media is quite puzzling. The concept of zombies has been around for decades, and their mythology has even been studied by scientists to prove that such an outbreak can never occur. Yet, whether it be in books or film, zombie popularity has only increased after having originally been popularized by the 1960s film, “The Night of the Living Dead.” Now, it seems that zombies on television are part of our daily routine. The obsession also permeates into other facets of our lives, such as with so-called Zombie Runs, in which people dressed as zombies chase other “civilians” to make them run faster towards the finish line. Even scientists at the National Institutes of Health have spent time creating an apocalyptic how-to guide on dealing with a zombie outbreak. Give me a break. As a doctor and scientist, I know one thing for sure: When you’re dead, you’re dead. Our brains should be less focused on imaginary zombie hordes and more focused on harnessing the tools that we need in order to enhance our lives, whether it be music, education, science or the classics. Entertainment should help us soothe our brains so that we can ease our minds of some of the stress from our daily lives. With this country heading towards a socialized system of government, in which officials don’t want you to think or focus on what is important for your own personal growth, I’m sure they’re more than happy to let you obsess over something as stupid as zombies. And in turn, you ultimately become the zombie. Wake up and smell the coffee. Stop obsessing over eating brains, and focus on cultivating your own.

So he doesn't like it, and doesn't watch it. Does that make it bad for society? Video games influencing the growth of our children? This has been going on long before the zonbie craze, as he said himself, they are rated 'M' for mature, so is it societies fault or parents? People going to zombie conventions, zombie runs, etc. It's called entertainment. I can't beleive a doctor would be against people going outside and being active. I guess we could all sit in our homes and read the medical journal, but it's not as entertaining. As for this season, it's starting out a little slow, but it always does. Seems it takes 4-5 episodes to introduce the new storyline and give it life. Glad to see Rick pulling out of his farmer funk.

^ This At least everyone recognizes The Walking Dead as fiction. The shows above, and many more like them, are much more damaging to our society.

Thought episode 1 was decent - for a premier it was way too slow and I really wish it I was 2 hours (heck wish every episode was 2 hrs)
Thought episode two was good - much better... Got a lot more action and more build up - loved the scenes with michone
Can't wait for episode 3 - saw the sneak peak and this episode should be awesome!!
So many story lines building!! You've still go the zombies, you've got people doing of the illness, who burned the bodies?, when will the governor make his return? So much going on
