thanks for the compliment. BTW when your team is in the lower tier of the NFL vs the run usually your DT's are getting stood up and driven backwards more often than not.
Phil Taylor can be a dominating DT but rarely did I see him dominate in 2011.
the Browns couldn't get to the QB or stop the run in 2011...
where does it begin...right in the middle of the d-line

Yea. I don't really know how much of a loss this is. I guess we will see how valuable he really was/is. I wonder how many people would take him in the spot we did if we could do it all over.

Hey, I've been as vocal as anyone against using tackles as a metric for success for linebackers but I don't think the same applies at DT. There's no such thing as a bad tackle for a DT. If we don't feel a significant impact from taylor's loss then Hughes was definitely worth the third round pick or Winn was a huge steal.

The guy to keep an eye on is Ty Warren in Denver. The Donks are trying to cut his $4 million dollar salary down to $1-$1.5 million and he's saying no. If he's let go, he's the kind of guy that can give us an instant boost.

This sucks, I hope Phil has a quick recovery. Hopefully they can get him back at some point next season, but they have to be careful as we all know how that injury can go, since we saw it with DQ.
Crazy that Heckert drafted not 1 but 2 DT's, then this happens. Maybe our luck is starting to turn around a bit. Losing PT for the season sucks, but we have 2 guys that we added both with a lot of promise.

I agree Steve. If our DT is making a tackle 5-7 yards beyond the LOS, he is a stud IMO.
Those guys aren't supposed to be running all over the field and it is unrealistic to supposition they should.

I've seen Rubin do that quite a bit over the last few years. I know I gush about him a lot, but I just love that guy's game. He never takes plays off, and he has a great sense of where the play is going.

Andrew Sweat was on the radio (97.1) last week (Wednesday) and he sounded real excited to get the chance, he said he was driving up Thursday and would be ready for Friday. Not sure what happened from wednesday night to thursday to keep him from going up to Cleveland. Will listen tomorrow for an update on him.

the only two things that make sense to me:
1. he got into a law school he didn't think he had a chance at getting into and he doesn't want to risk flaming out of the NFL and having to re-apply.
2. some personal tragedy caused him to re-evaluate.

Andrew Sweat made 5 plays in 5 years for the Buckeyes, at least that's is all I ever saw or heard, he was a complete non factor. He had half the upside of Jonathan Dunn on the Browns. He was less productive for the bucks than the invisible man Dante Stalworth was for the Browns in 2010. They're not missing out on anything.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

I don't see any way Sweat would have made the Browns.
I do expect both JMJ and Acho to make the team. If I had to bet, I would bet that JMJ starts the year at OLB in place of Fujita.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, Sweat hit his head in the shower this past weekend and got some concussion symptoms (he'd had concussions in the past). That scared him enough to say that football wasn't going to work.

I may lack the commitment of an NFL player, but if I have several concussions, and have the distinct possibility of being a babbling, incoherent, brain damaged person for decades and decades of my life ..... then I'm gonna move on to the rest of my life before I get to that point.

I would never draft a LB from OSU or WR..they just don't pan out in the NFL.
Laurenitis has been rock solid..but Hawk has underachieved big time.
Andrew Sweat like someone said did very little as a Buckeye.

2 WR's going back 25 years have had great careers.
Holmes can be a distraction.

Now DB's is a different story all together.

well, Phil Taylor went to Penn State before Baylor and Penn State is in the same conference as Ohio State, which is in Columbus and there is an Ohio Senator named Kevin Bacon who works in Columbus. 4-levels to Bacon

I saw where Taylor is scheduled to have surgery on Wednesday but I still have not heard the level of the tear. Now the MRI may not have been very clear in which case they wont know the full extent of the tear until they open him up and begin the repair.

I bet you could go back through a lot of positions for big name schools and find more misses than hits... that doesn't mean you should make a blanket statement that you shouldn't draft a guy from there. That's one of the curses of being a national program like OSU, sometimes individual players get overrated because of the success of the team as a whole....
