Why do we always struggle with the White Sox? Been ongoing for several seasons now. It seem they always bring us down to earth when we are doing well. 3 4 run innings given up. Turrrible.

Yeah, kinda sucks to score 7 .... and still get blown out. What really sucks is that we really couldn't have expected 7 runs with this lineup ...... and then our pitching lets us down.

Looks like the injury bug has reared its head ... Hafner might be facing knee surgery, Cabrera has a strained hammy - which can go on forever, and Santana out with a mandatory 7 day concussion DL. Not ripping on Santana because it is the rule keeping him out, but can anyone imagine Johnny Bench or Carlton Fisk missing 7 days from a foul tip? I would think 2-3 days with a followup examination would be cautious enough. I've had 3 concussions, and they're no fun, but they ain't all that bad either.

My man Beep's on fire!
I'll try to find a video of it later. But I've never seen anyone hit a home run like Todd Frazier just hit. He threw his bat at the ball and knocked it 5 rows into the left field seats. The ball is flying out of GABP today.

So I went to ESPN.com and the ticker said it was 4-4 (Cle/Chi) in the Top of the 4th bases loaded! Clicked on the Gamecast. Waited for the Advertisement to get out of the way. Mid-4th.
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

Yeah I can't stand those gamecast things, I'd rather just switch over to mlb network and watch the live look-ins.

We brought up Carlin from AAA as the temp backup catcher. Man, back to back games that our starter has given up at least 7 runs. Can't blame that on injuries to position players. Hell, we scored 7 yesterday and 4 so far today. That's pretty good all things considered as far as runs go.

It's fun watching Ubaldo bounce around the fantasy waiver wire.
There's a few more disappointed owners out there today who thought they were going to get a decent Sunday spot start.

32 runs and counting surrendered to Chicago in this series.
Edit: Make that 33.
But hey, we're still in first place, right?

And we keep pitching to Konerko with an empty base. He owns us. BTW, I'm officially off the Ubaldo train. That hanger he threw to Konerko was like a matzoh ball ... a room-service BP breaking ball ... inexcusable.

They're (the Indians) the worst team ever. They all ought to be sent home tonight, the rest of the season forfeited and all referrences to them wiped from the books. Try again next year. Feel better?

No. Just don't tell those of us who voice concerns about things like the starting pitching, the durability of the players and the lack of depth to "just enjoy it" because "we're in first place". Or blame it on the injuries.
At least the offense looked pretty good in this series. Choo in the leadoff spot is proving to be a great move, Kipnis is hitting well and that Jose Lopez guy has been a pleasant surprise (to me, at least).

j/c Asdrubal eyeing Tuesday or Wednesday return CHICAGO -- Asdrubal Cabrera does not plan on missing too much time with the left hamstring injury that has kept him out of the lineup for two games. The Indians' shortstop hopes to return to the field during Cleveland's upcoming series against the Royals. "I'll be all right," Cabrera said prior to Sunday's game against the White Sox. "I think I'll be ready for the next series against Kansas City, but not tomorrow." The Indians open a three-game home series against the Royals on Monday, but Cabrera is not expected to be back in the lineup for that contest. The shortstop said he will go through a series of tests, including running drills and hitting, before the first tilt against Kansas City to see how his leg feels. If everything goes according to plan, Cabrera could be back in the lineup by Tuesday or Wednesday. The shortstop said he first felt tightness in his left hamstring on Wednesday, but the injury flared during Friday's game in Chicago. Cabrera left that contest in the seventh inning and was held out of the lineup in the next two games. "We said he's day to day," Indians manager Manny Acta said. "That could probably be three to five days. That's the initial thought, so we'll see how he's doing [on Monday]. He's going to be pushed a little bit to see where he's at." Through 39 games this season, Cabrera has hit .301 with five home runs, 14 doubles and 20 RBIs for the Indians. web page

Chisenhall Excited to Return to the Indians May 28, 2012 -- 1:31pm By: T.J. Zuppe With a flurry of injuries and recent ineffectiveness, the Indians have compensated by recalling third-base prospect Lonnie Chisenhall from Class-AAA Columbus. Chisenhall’s recall is a direct result of third-baseman Jack Hannahan being placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left calf. “It’s always nice to get called up, especially to be in the lineup,” Chisenhall said. Chisenhall will DH and bat seventh for manager Manny Acta, Monday against the Royals. He was hitting .324 with the Clippers, smacking 12 doubles, four home runs and driving in 17 over 28 games. “I was seeing the ball well,” Chisenhall said. “It was a little hit or miss down there. I felt comfortable most all the year. It’s exciting to be up here and see how it translates to this level.” However, Chisenhall’s return to the majors is overshadowed a bit by the amount of bumps and bruises on the big league club. The Indians are without shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera, designated hitter Travis Hafner and catcher Carlos Santana. Chisenhall admitted that makes it a little bittersweet. “It’s never good to have your team beat up a little bit,” Chisenhall said. “But any way you can get up here, you have to figure out how to help the team and you have to fight through those injuries and do what you can to win.” One of the Tribe’s top prospects, Chisenhall was sent to Columbus so he could continue to play every day in some capacity. With his call to Cleveland, he will likely continue to do so. However, he has not been told of any timetable of how long he will be with the big league club. “No, not really,” Chisenhall said. “I know there are a lot of injuries and guys need to come back at some point but I’m not really looking at that.” The 23-year old spent 66 games with the Indians in 2011. He hit .255 with seven home runs and 22 runs batted in. Chisenhall admitted this year’s call to the big club feels different than last year’s. “Yea, a little bit,” Chisenhall said. “I wasn’t quite as panicked. The travel was a little bit easier on me not having to travel across the country. It’s definitely a little bit more laid back.” After spending so much time with Cleveland last year, he feels more like he belongs. "After a few spring trainings and stuff, it’s nice that you already know the guys,” Chisenhall said. “You’re not coming up to a whole new world.” While Chisenhall was excited to be back, Hannahan was clearly disappointed to be heading to the disabled list. “There was still some discomfort in the back but I think from compensating from running and hitting with the back, I strained the calf,” Hannahan said. “The only positive from going on the DL is I can get everything right and come back. (I can) just get back and finish where I left off.” Looking back to when Hannahan first injured his back, in retrospect he said there was nothing he could do about the decision to not place him on the disabled list right away. “It’s not my choice,” Hannahan said. “Looking back, anyone can be a Monday morning quarterback. When it first happened it was gradually getting better every day. “(I’m) just focused on getting back out there as soon as possible and being 100 percent.” In addition to Chisenhall and Hannahan, the Tribe activated pitcher Josh Tomlin and designated pitcher Jairo Asencio for assignment. Tomlin will start Monday against Kansas City. web page

cmon, talk about panic attack. we swept the Tigers, we got swept by the White Sox. one is great, one sucks. they both happened.
now, let's take care of the Royals and move on. geesh.

Kenny Williams trying to "pull a Chris Perez?" Quote:

Williams said attendance could impact the White Sox at the trade deadline. ''If you can't monetarily make something work, sometimes you have to do it with a greater cost to your talent,'' Williams said. Chicago is averaging 20,663 this season at home. ...

WTF was with Perez doing the John Cena "U Can't C Me" motion for?
A little juvenile, but he does back it up.

I think the Sox attendance is worse than Cleveland's. They are a top 5 market that competes every year.
I do realize that more Chicagoans by a small margin are Cub fans, but that still leaves a ton of people and attendance was not a problem when the Sox competed for a championship, and the next year sold out a bunch of games.

i agree that the White Sox attendance issues are at least as bad as the Indians due to their market size. the one way they get around it is they still have a much larger local TV deal due to that market size.

Yes, but the attendance for that franchise is still kind of embarassing. They're not stacked with all-stars, but they are and have been a pretty good run organization for the last 10 years.
Biggest difference with attendance there and with the Indians is that the Sox do well on the weekend.
There's just nothing to do at Cellular field. People tailgate because they allow it, but going up on the north side is a completely different atmosphere. It's a party whether the Cubs are playing or not. There are tons of bars and restaurants surrounding the stadium.
I can't stand the Cubs and a lot of Cub fans, but their atmosphere around that stadium is tough to top.

At least our starting pitching is collapsing early in the season instead of the beginning of July.
