LINK "WAYNESVILLE, N.C. — Three men accused of operating what police described as a sadomasochistic "dungeon" that included castrations have been sentenced to jail time. Richard Peter "Master Rick" Sciara, his partner of 20 years Michael Mendez, and the man they called their slave, Danny Carroll Reeves, pleaded guilty to felony castration and maiming. Superior Court Judge Dennis Winner said it was difficult to call the dungeon's willing patients "victims," but he said six castrations performed there were certainly a crime. "I think this is a type of perversion that cannot be tolerated by society," Winner said during a sentencing hearing Thursday." A castrationist named Richard Peter?

So let me get this straight. The Judge was a Winner and said That Peter was cut off? No more castrations on the part of Peter? Is that about the jist of it?

While this is clearly bizarre behavior that I can't even begin to understand I have to ask "Why is this any of the laws business?" Apparently everyone involved was "a willing participant". If it's going on in their basement and isn't hurting anyone else then why in "the land of the free" do we need to spend court time & money, police resources, and jail space ( & $$$) on it? People are allowed to have "elective surgery" every day. We've all sen the endless plastic surgery maimings. People get horrible ugly tattoos. And it's become overwhelmingly urgent that we accept homosexuality, race, every bizarre culture, and never reffer to Christmas in school. Why then is this such a crime that it should justify tax dollars being wasted and people's freedom take away?

In all of these cases,these people are "certified",pay insurance and taxes. Any time the system doesn't get "their slice of the pie" they call it a crime.

Why is it a crime for a 50 year man to sleep with a 13 year old child? Because it's WRONG. Anybody who agrees to let somebody castrate them has to be nuts and needs protection.

Radically different scenarios. There's nothing in the article to suggest anyone was under age or a victim.
Once your of legal age you're allowed to make bad decisions. People carry a balance on a credit card at 17% need protection too but no one is arresting Randy Lerner.....

Anyone who wants a sex-chang operation must go through intense psychological evaluation and counseling to determine if their judgement is impaired before the surgery is even considered.
Why? Because they may either have a mental illness or are under the influence of drugs and are not in a clear state of mind to make these permanent, life altering decisions.
It is not uncommon for mentally ill people to respond to command hallucinations and mutilate themselves. When they receive treatment and their thoughts clear, they can't believe what they've done to themselves.
To not call this a crime is a crime in and of itself. I'm sure you never woke up from a drunk and thought, "I can't believe I did that".
