Kyrie Irving probably won't be any better than he is right now. He has limited upside.

David Thorpe would disagree with that statement ... but hey, he doesn't spend his living analyzing NBA players ...

lol, it's his opinion.

I don't think it's that far off. Like I said, he's not going to get much bigger so he's not going to turn into a guy who will plow through people. Contact in the lane will be rough on him.

That crazy play by Westbrook just made my jaw drop

Russell Westbrook is like OKC's version of Jason Terry. He'll either save you or kill you, no middle ground.

And he can't even really kill you because they also have Durant and Harden to pick up the slack. And it's becoming more and more common that he wins games.

I hope you're right ..... only because I don't care who wins the NBA Finals .... as long as it isn't one particular team.

Who is the firs to go: Gasol, Brown, or Bynum?

I am going to say Gasol as they already traded him once before.

This seems to be the general consensus.

But I think OKC wins. I think they are too young, too dynamic. And I think the Spurs are a bit overrated.

Like both teams though and won't be disappointed with either.

Would love to see Boston come out of the East and get one more too. Seems a shame that core only won one ring.

Kobe balled tonight. Not a Kobe fan at all, but he played great tonight. Unfortunately for Laker fans it's all they will remember about his play. But it's fortunate for non-Laker fans.

Bynum if it's for Dwight in some kind of trade, otherwise, I agree, Gasol.

As far as OKC/SAS goes, I think that's going to be the best series in the NBA in a long time.

I do think having Perk is HUGE for OKC. You saw what he did with the Lakers' bigs. San Antonio will take away a lot of the running you saw with OKC, although if they keep playing defense the way they have, they're going to still get out quite a bit.

I know Westbrook had a good series against the Lakers, but I think the Spurs will live and die with letting him shoot his jumper.

please. you are a year late on this assessment. Westbrook has been killing it for months now. he really improved his game this year and he doesn't hurt OKC, he almost always only helps (every player has a bad game from time to time).

With Rose injured and Chris Paul older, there is no better 2way PG in the NBA than Westbrook.

I want San Antonio to win because I'd love to see the cherry on the top of Duncan's and Pop's careers. But, I don't see how they beat the Thunder. They are the only team that is as deep as SA and they have more athleticism throughout their team. SA is going to have to shoot like crazy from 3pt land to stay in this series.

I agree.

I'm not a huge NBA guy. I watch the Cavs, and catch other games off and on, but I'm more of a college guy, but this is a series I've been dying to see.

I won't miss a minute of the entire series.

Grant snookered the Lakers on Sessions.
1st this year + ability to swap Heat's pick with theirs next year.

and this is how they feel about Ramon right now:

Quote:

And then what about Ramon Sessions? The Lakers' 26-year-old supposed point guard of the future, whom they plucked out of relative anonymity in Cleveland and inserted into the L.A. spotlight, just might not be the guy they hoped he'd be.

If Sessions decides against picking up his player option for next season, has he showed enough to prove he's the right fit at point to lead the Lakers back to the championship when they'll have to get through a league filled with Russell Westbrook, Paul, Derrick Rose and Rajon Rondo (and on and on) to get there?

"I probably didn't play to the best of my ability but it's one of those things that you live and you learn and just move on," Sessions said.

The Lakers might have learned to move on from the idea that he's their answer alongside Bryant in the backcourt.

A player that has been on three teams in three years is only slightly above-average? Shocker.

If I was the Lakers I would still do the deal though. They had to upgrade that position to even think about making a title run and they got rid of Walton's contract.

I don't know though. It's so short-sighted for a team that really wasn't going anywhere without blowing things up anyway.

they really needed this 1st round pick to get some youth on their team. Jenkins is absolutely perfect for them because he is such a good shooter and Kobe is their defacto PG anyway (he doesn't give up the ball, which is partially why Sessions was ineffective there).

not to mention, that was a big chip to have come trade talks if they do ship out Pau (or Bynum - less likely)

I like Ramon, and I think he's pretty good, but asking him to start at point in a second round conference game is kinda laughable. I think he's a great option as a second point guard on a contender, but it's asking too much for what they wanted.

Still happy to take their pick though, thanks, haha.

The Lakers could have won the title this year. They just have a super-diva as their main option (Kobe), an extreme knuckle head as their second option (Bynum), and a player who is afraid of letting down their main option as their third option (Gasol). And they all hate the coach.

those are some pretty good reasons why they couldn't win the title, no? it's not like any of those things have changed from last year (other than the coach, but that situation hasn't changed since the allstar break).

I agree with you, those are the reasons they couldn't win the title. But given their talent they should have been able to at least have a chance. They just couldn't get out of their own way.

(How did I end up defending the Lakers?)

if OKC and LAL were playing at their absolute best, I'd still take the Thunder, but there is no denying that the Lakers have talent.

I think their best bet is to send Pau to Houston (who loves him) and get back a bunch of key young components to plug in (Budinger, Dragic, and Scola might work depending on what those first 2 RFAs do)

I can't count out Durantula, the guy is raising his game like Dirk did last year.

Indiana looks the most scared they have all season.

They know if they lose tonight they're likely done. Playing tight.

Plus it's hard when you're playing the guys in white and red, AND the guys in white and black...

How can Haslem's foul only be a flagrant one when he CLEARLY was not going for the ball with two hands/forearms to Hansbrough's face...and how can Hansbrough, who was clearly going for the ball that D Wade was in the process of double-clutching/avoiding the block/contact also be called a flagrant one??

Unbelievable...Haslem better be suspended game 5.

Indiana does not know how to move the ball around. They're throwing up 3s and just standing around. They deserve to lose honestly. I hate the Heat and the Pacers are just blowing it.

Man, who is this doofus calling the game with Marv? Turn this moron's mic off, please.

Wait, that's Steve Kerr? Damn. No wonder he was a horrible GM. He doesn't know anything about basketball.

They are at the beginning stages of young up and coming team.

The Cavs did it, they went toe to toe with Detroit but lost, then eventually a few years later won...

OKC took their lumps and now are one of the best teams in the league..

I'm just sitting there watching Roy Hibbert push around Joel Anthony while Hill and George are jacking up threes and it makes me wanna cry...

I wonder how Frank Vogel feels...

Between MWP's "flagrant" the other night, and Haslem's foul tonight, what the hell?

I thought MWP's foul was freaking textbook, you can even argue it shouldn't have been a foul...

Haslem is a repeat offender just life MWP. Threw his mouthpiece at a referee in what was it, 2006?

Do the refs get together before these games and ask each other on a scale of 1-10 how hard should they make it for each team?

Miami's gonna win this one by 20+. Between playing at home, the refs, and now Granger out with a sprained ankle, I can't see anything close to a comeback.

Boston may get swept by Miami (I doubt it, but it's possible)

But at least I can assume they won't mentally break down like Indiana has.

(Well maybe Rondo could... And he should watch his elbows...)

Does Miami practice making Fouls worse than they actually are?

Not as much as Ronny Turiaf probably practices erupting like a volcano like he did after that Wade layup. What a clown.
