We've talked about music and things we hate. Why not talk about some of our favorite films? Try and link the youtube trailer if you can. 1.) 2001: A Space Odyssey-My favorite film of all time. Some may not like the disconnected feel of the narrative but I love it. Sure, there's a sequence in the end which doesn't hold up at all today. Technical limitations allowed that nonsense to happen. With that said, I love what Kubrick was able to do with all the models. 2.) Terminator 2: Judgement Day -My favorite film which teams up James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Has a rich story, fantastic characters, practical effects which still hold up today, and a great message. No fate but what we make. 3.) AlienNever felt such a sense of terror watching a film before this one. The characters are fleshed out, too. The sense of isolation this film conveys is amazing. I highly recommend catching Prometheus this summer if you're a fan of Alien. 4.) Raiders of The Lost Ark-One of the best action adventure films of all time. Indy is a classic character that will never be forgotten. 5.) Casino RoyaleMy favorite bond film without a doubt. It's one of the few which features a great villain, wonderful characters, and simple gadgets. Has some great actions sequences as well. It's too bad Quantum of Solace never lived up to Casino Royale.

Not saying these are the BEST movies... just my personal favorites..
Hoosiers Rudy Forrest Gump Field of Dreams Shawshank Redemption
I also am a sucker for mindless comedy (Dumb and Dumber, Tommy Boy, Happy Gilmore, etc)

But right now I guess I'm going . . .
Jaws Dr. Strangelove The Big Lebowski Die Hard Children of Men
Just missing the cut . . .
Raiders of the Lost Ark Original Star Wars trilogy The Terminator Caddyshack Fantasia Goodfellas The Thing (80s remake) Back to the Future Animal House The Shining Fight Club 12 Monkeys The Warriors A Clockwork Orange Predator
I could go on and on . . .

Yeah, I had a really tough time picking the top five. There's a plethora of other films I really enjoy but I had to narrow it down to five I'd like to bring on an island with me.

And, a lot of times, it really boils down to the mood I'm in.
Sometimes I'm feeling something like "Love and Death" or "Bananas" by Woody Allen. Other times I'm feeling like watching Shrek. Other times I'm feeling like watching "Heartbreak Ridge."
I just tried to limit mine to the 5 (of the about 20) that I can watch no matter what mood I'm in.

1. Casablanca 2. Some Like It Hot 3. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes 4. White Christmas 5. African Queen
Yes, I'm more into classics than anything else and my list could go on and on and on and on - I didn't even mention Gone With The Wind, North by Northwest, Bell, Book and Candle, Niagra, Maltese Falcon, Miracle on 34th St (original version ONLY), Holiday Inn, Going My Way
And this is all without anything newer than what, 1965? LOL! I do like more modern stuff too, but when I'm popping in a movie, it's usually one I've listed above.

I guess my favorites would be the ones I've watched the most.
1. Lord of the Rings trilogy (I have the extended version for those weekends with nothing to do) 2. Young Frankenstein (Fraunkenstien?) 3. Blazing Saddles (The most politically incorrect movie ever, even more than Zohan) 4. Kill Bill (What's not to like about hot women killing each other with cool swords?) 5. Cash Back (Great date movie, slight nudity, good story)

Man, I forgot about Young Frankenstein. That movie cracks me up so much every time I see it.
And to spark some debate, to whoever up there said, 'Lost in Translation,' that movie is easily in my top 5 most overrated. I love Bill Murray w/ a passion but I could go on and on about how much I was disappointed and bored to tears by that flick . . .

I agree that this is really tough. I'll probably disagree with my own list in an hour, but here's a shot: 2001: A Space Odyssey The Godfather There Will Be Blood Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure Full Metal JacketI feel like I should have a Stanley Kubrick top 5 and an everything else top 5. So hard to not have Rocky on this list. Also wish I could have Barry Lyndon on here. oh yeah, RO and jf, great lists!

I would add Saving Private Ryan as another favorite. I always tear up at the end of that movie.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.
