Glad to see them bounce back against a really good team, and to return the broom to the Reds.

Its about time they gave Masterson some support. He is last in the AL with run support and 4th in the majors.

Damon is going to be a nice addition. His bat is turning up since missing spring training.

Everyone got on base today, scored eight runs and still left a few on base.

Looks like CHW is going to beat the Cubs so they will still only be a half game up.

SWEEP the bad guys!!! Now I can start rooting for Cincy again.

I still don't know about Damon. He plays LF like a worn out 1B with no arm. . He's had a couple of big hits lately, but I'm still not all that thrilled with his production thus far.

Justin Masterson's last four starts: 1.24 ERA (29 IP/4 ER) with 27 K/6 BB. Three vs. NL teams: 0.39 ERA (23 IP/1ER) with 24 K/3 BB.

Dude is ballin'. Man I hope he's figured it.

I think it's part "he's figured it out" and also that the weather is right for his sinker. There are certain pitchers that have one specific unhittable pitch and the conditions have to be right for it to be "unhittable".

Good mechanics, positive mental attitude, specific weather for a pitch....look out!

Isn't the knuckleball one of those pitches too? During the cold weather weeks, it doesn't dance as much....or that it dances too much? I don't remember.

*said while holding my breath*

Ubaldo has also pitched well lately (since completely self-destructing vs. White Sox at the end of May).

Jun5 @DET - 6 2/3IP 5H 1R 1ER 1BB 4K
Jun10 @StL - 7IP 5H 1R 1ER 0BB 7K
Jun16 PIT - 6IP 7H 4R 4ER 2BB 6K

The thing that jumps out at me are the BB numbers. If he can keep those down, then he's got a good chance at continuing to pitch well. Yeah, he gave up too many runs vs. Pit, but the overall performance was there (he is giving up too many HRs and that has continued).

He doesn't even have to be an Ace, but a solid #2 starter and we are in business.

I'm hoping the all-star break can help these guys. They get a chance to sit back and look at their season, and re-evaluate. Especially Ubaldo, because for as much as we rip him, and a lot of it was deserved, it's really tough to come over to the AL when you have always been in the NL.

I have been a little impressed with him lately. I still don't have a ton of confidence, but I feel a lot better about him than I did before the season, and that's good.

That would make sense. Thicker, humid air means more resistance against the laces.

Congrats to the Tribe fans for the return sweep. This series was as awful as the first one was fun.

Yeah... it's kind of amazing how two teams could take turns looking so good and so bad playing each other in a home-at-home series. We went to Monday's game and it was wild to see the ball flying out of Progressive Field like it was. Fun game to watch though.

Ugh....

We need a closer. Can we bring back Coco?

Thanks to Verlander pitching brilliantly we're still in 1st. He was still hitting 98mph in the 9th inning.

No, he began hitting 98 MPH in the 9th inning. Going off a stat I heard during the game his average fastball in the first was like 91.7 - the way he paces himself until about the 7th inning is amazing.

And you need a closer? I know you guys lost today but I haven't checked what happened yet... did Barmes and Fort McKenry break Aroldis a few weeks ago or what?

Yeah. Reds took a 3-2 lead on Votto's 2 run homer in the 8th. But Josh Willingham took a Chapman fastball into the left field bleachers for a game winning 2 run homer in the top of the 9th.

He hasn't seemed the same since he gave up that 1st earned run, probably 3 or 4 saves blown in the time span since.

Thanks for the jumping-off point.

Maybe it's just me (but I doubt it). I don't feel disappointment in the Indians.

I feel apathy.

I would have had to have expectations in order to feel anything else. Sure, there are some young, talented players, and yes, we have one true all-star, but beyond that? We're a cheap team with a low-budget roster. We have the worst left-fielder in the game. We have the worst first-baseman in the game, and don't give me any crap about him having a gold-glove. That's meaningless in today's game if you can't do any damage with the bat.

I'm not going to go further down the road with what's wrong here. I just know that the fans won't come back until the organization spends some freaking money on good players.

As big as Indian fan as I've been since I was a kid, I can't even say that while I was at work I elected to record the Indians/Yankees game. I elected to record Eureka and Big Break, a golf reality show. Why? Because I knew what would happen. We're outmanned and outgunned.

We're just not that much better than the Royals or the Pirates as an organization.

Maybe next year...

I went to a Columbus Clippers game with my son on Sunday - Matt Laporta is hitting around .320 - he can't possibly be worse than Damon as a fielder or hitter. I know he's had his chances at the ML level, but my goodness I say give him another shot at this point.

I know they say Damon is good for the clubhouse/locker room, but is he really that important?

That's pretty much how I feel. The Chris Perez comments are hilarious though.

This is a mediocre team. They're a tough bunch, but you aren't winning anything with Casey Kotchman playing first base, and Johnny Damon playing the outfield. It's a slap to the face.

There is no pressure to get better from the perspective of the front office.

I like a lot of the young players, but this isn't enough to seriously compete.

Taking shots at the Browns is pretty classless on his part too. Those guys come out and support him and his mediocre team. When's the last time Chris Perez went to a Browns game. Oh wait, when's the last time Chris Perez was in Cleveland during the winter?

Just from Twitter in the last year, year and a half, Joe Haden, Brandon Weeden, Trent Richardson, Jason Pinkston, Greg Little, Kyrie Irving, Baron Davis, Tristan Thompson and many others have come out to the ballpark to support the Indians.

It's a tough situation for a guy like perez. The guy is having a career year, and the team gets no help from the organization to improve the roster, plus the stadium is empty.. I said it in the winter, the indians had the worst offseason. they did nothing at all to improve the offense. The starting pitching is worse, as well as the bullpen overall, even though pestano and perez are the best 1-2 punch in the game.

All in all the indians are a .500 team at best.. Acta seems like a decent manager, just has nothing to work with offensively. Dolan has to be the worst owner in baseball.

Yeah but... taking his frustration out on the fans shows very little class. Like it or not, Cleveland is a football town. Heck, most of us can't explain WHY we love the Browns so much. Nonetheless, for many Clevelanders, baseball is just something to do until training camp opens. It is what it is.

Perez can talk all he wants, but I doubt anybody really cares about what he has to say at this point. I know I don't. If the Indians don't roll over and die (as they typically do after the break), people will show up. If they keep winning and contending for playoffs beyond this season, the Tribe's bandwagon will runneth over.

just clicking...

Our 2 runs today have come from solo shots by Duncan and Cunningham. Something is wrong in the universe apparently, and i am hiding in the basement for the rest of the day.

In other news, Drubs and Perez are all-stars.

Apparently those numbers posted by Cueto so far this season aren't considered all star worthy by Tony Larussa.

Who cares? He'll end up making the team anyway because half the team won't play. Obviously he should have made the team over Wade Miley, but he's the D-Backs only representative. Lance Lynn is another guy he should have made it over. Cain, Dickey, Gonzalez, Hamels, Kershaw, and Strasburg are all very deserving.

personally, i'm happy anytime one of my teams better pitchers doesn't make the squad. give them 4days of relaxation over all the prep-throwing and actual game, which only gives them another chance to get hurt. no thanks.

The whole game is a farce. It decides home field advantage in the World Series, but Wade Miley is on the team? Also, if it really mattered I want to see the best players play the whole game, not get switched out every two innings.

Yeah, under the current system we might as well just award home field to the league that the home run derby champ is affiliated with.

My beloved Pirates are 8 games over .500 for the first time since I was 12. 8!, not 18, not 28... 8. When I first heard that bit come up a few days ago it blew me away, but looking back through the years it makes sense.

Buccos back in first on the 4th of July.

GO BUCS.

If nothing else, these Indians are quite the resilient bunch.

They need to make a run though. They've been treading water all year, and have earned themselves a spot in still being in the run for the playoffs.

I don't like how the hitting comes and goes, they scored 12 yesterday off of a guy who no-hit them last year, and they could go and score 3 runs the next 2 games. However, the starting pitching is where it starts, those guys have to be better.

Johnny Damon threw a runner out at 2nd yesterday, so anything's possible. Seriously though, I think they need a RH bat, and another arm for the rotation to stay in it. Lowe is fading, Tomlin is Tomlin, and who knows about McAlister.
