Just a thought here..and I'm guilty of this..everything isn't a smokescreen nor is it all true ..
Sure GM's and coaches like certain players..so when the media sees Opie or hears a comment he makes about a player..it's written in a way that people think thats the selction..

Draft boards aren't even close to being set yet with teams just finishing up with major FA moves. Since boards are just being constructed, it's pretty hard to believe that every team is smokescreening their true intentions already.

The real game is played between GM's, some is leaked through the media..but a lot that goes on is ther postering on draft day..when they're on the phone(talking to a player) and a rep has one card he flashes that can be seen by other GM's , while another has the actual pick..
I heard that about the Wimbley pick last year..

I think you guys put too much stock into smoke screens.

I should have known you would respond that way,, My comment doesn't support your desire for a new QB...LOL

It's not reall a position.

I think you guys make this much harder than it is and think teams go into high covert ops.

It's just a friggen football team.

When you are sitting at 3, it doesn't really matter who knows what, and other teams aren't going to do much different no matter what they think they know.

In the end, it doesn't really matter what we do because chances are it will end up being the wrong move..odds are better then 50% the guy flops or ends up sustaining some massive injury before year 3.

Reported wasn't a good word. Speculated is much better.

i agree.....maybe we should just start worrying more about our second round picks instead, usually they stick with the club longer and don't flop as fast anyway.

Maybe well get lucky for once, who knows....until then i'm not going to get overally excited about anyone we draft. Whenever i do i usually just end up getting dissapointed.

Oddly, I would have thought that the closer to the top of the draft you are, the more important sending mixed signals... it's all about trying to see what you can get for your pick,,

I would bet you that every team in the top five is hoping for a blockbuster deal that gives them an edge... So in essence, I think your incorrect about how your downplaying the value of smokescreening... JMO however

You are probably right. They probably have a director of misinformation with a big board.

On the 10th they release this tid-bit....on the 13th, release another tid-bit.

I am to the point with all of this it doesn't really matter because no matter who we get, they are going to flop anyway.

geez man, have alittle faith....

edwards isn't terrible, and wimbley seems to be headed in the right direction...

and quite a few of the others seem to be progressing in the right direction also.....

what gives me the most hope is savage doesn't seem to waste time making a decision that someone isn't going to cut it...

granted he only cut some lower picks last year from his previous draft, at least thats a step in the right direction.....in years past these bums were making the team and starting....

eventually we will get to the point where our lower picks might not make the team in the first year....

One of the best things about the draft being over is that it will signal the end of the BS, and the speculating.

There is no director, and no big board, but they do leak out bogus info and do laugh when everybody gets excited about it

You may not have said it but that would be a good idea. If I ever become GM of the Browns (clearly no shot just a pipe dream), I would hire a director of misinformation. Whenever someone talked to this person they would have to speak in code. As a tribute to Ballpeen coming up with the idea I would call it the 'peen-al code .

Am I perfect? No
Am I trying to be a better person?
Also no
