It's June, it's slow for NFL news, and I'm sick of arguing about which backup QB has the more likely chance of being less bad if they are needed.

Much like the Denver Brownco's DL of recent years, the KC Chiefs have made it their mission to accumulate many ex-Brown's pieces for their team.
Romeo Crennel - HC
Brian Daboll - OC
Peyton Hillis - RB2 (RB1 Charles coming back from ACL-tear)
Brady Quinn - QB2 (Romeo himself saying he wanted to open up the QB spot earlier in the offseason)
anyone else cheering that we get a game QB'd by Quinn with Hillis as the main RB?
what other teams have a possible stronger ex-Browns connection?

KC also has Abe Elam now...
I know this cause I looked it up cause he WAS on Dallas with Rob Ryan (former DC) who also now has Brodney Pool...
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

You forgot Mo Carthon, he's with KC, too.  Also: Asst. OLine Coach Steven Smith had a coaching internship with us in 2011. Defensive Line coach Anthony Pleasant played for Cleveland from '90-'95. I'm not sure who else is collecting our parts.

There was a big outcry when we cut Vickers. It seemed a lot of people thought he was probably the greatest football player in the history of the game.

a little overstated. I think people didn't like the idea of letting a pretty darn good FB go and replacing him with an unknown.

I know no one ever said that. It's hyperbole. And I understand what you're saying (replacing a darn good FB with an unknown). But, I do remember the outcry being a little disproportionate, IMO.

Yep, that was the source of my disappointment with that. It had nothing to do with Marecic, I just didn't understand creating a hole that you then had to use a draft pick to fill without knowing whether you were really upgrading the position or not.

I thought Vickers was the most overrated chump that has graced the Browns in some time. He would miss 2 blocks for every 1 big block he made. Best fullback in the game has now been cut twice in 2 years.

Andra Davis, Brian Robiskie, Ryan Tucker and Eric Wright are all in the overated club.
Lawrence Vickers was a better player at his position than they were.
very rarely do pure FB's stay with one team.
Owen Marecic finally realized he has to come into camp in shape.
funny how the Browns love to draft FB's that you can find off the street

One never played a down for the Browns after Vickers left.
The other became a prima donna, and only started 9 games in an injury filled season after Vickers left.
Those two prove nothing about the worth of Lawrence Vickers.

I had to laugh when I read this article...
...the Giants signed Shaun Rogers in April...but then when it comes time to begin workouts, Rogers develops some mysterious pain that keeps him from practicing...Browns fans have seen that act before.
Shaun Rogers stopped playing football when the Browns fired Crennel. Since then, Rogers has done just enough to collect a paycheck for another season.

Shaun Rogers was a surprise signing by the Giants in April. The veteran defensive tackle didn’t do much of anything during the offseason program that wrapped up last week except cost them promising young tight end Jake Ballard, Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post reports.
With Rogers unable to participate due to a mysterious elbow condition that neither he nor the Giants will talk much about, general manager Jerry Reese exposed Ballard to waivers for roster purposes so he could bring back reserve defensive tackle Rocky Bernard.
Although he played in all 16 games for the Saints last season, he managed just 14 tackles and wasn’t re-signed even though New Orleans knew its defense was probably going to be decimated by free agency and the NFL’s bounty penalties.
Even Rogers admitted when the Giants signed him that he was halfway expecting to be forced into retirement, although Rogers claimed last week that there were other teams interested this offseason.
With Rogers unable to do anything more than study the Giants’ playbook, the combination of the elbow and the surprise re-signing of Bernard are leading Giant watchers to wonder if Rogers will ever play a snap for the team.
“He is in the classroom,” Tom Coughlin said when asked about Rogers recently before quickly changing the subject.
Rogers isn’t exactly making any guarantees when asked if he expects to be available for the start of training camp in Albany next month. Rogers himself wouldn’t be surprised if the Giants decided to end their relationship soon.
“That’s up to them to decide,” Rogers said. “I feel like I can play football at any point in time. What my role is will be determined by the coaches and how they feel.”

I remember the outcry by some when we let this guy walk and the Saints signed him. 14 tackles in 16 games ... what a difference that would have made.

05...I agree, Rogers wasted his opportunity to be one of the best defensive tackles/nose tackles in the game.
IMO, Rogers could have had a Hall of Fame career, had he been willing to apply himself.
Shaun Rogers first season with the Browns, he lead the NFL in tackles for defensive linemen with 76. He certainly had the ability to play at a very high level, if only his desire matched his ability.
...what a waste.

Agreed. Rogers has been coasting for awhile now. He's got 10 years in the league already and a nice pension waiting for him after he retires.
