A low round pick starting at left guard his rookie year would be considered a steal.
A low round pick starting at FS his 2nd year would be considered a steal.
Not headline makersbut steals non the less.

Just because someone starts at a position doesn't mean they're good, just that you have nothing better...

Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

Foster had a second round grade his junior year.

He was buried on the depth chart due to injuries, new coaches, fierce competition and some fumbles his senior year. Then he was injured before the combine and had a poor showing at his pro-day (possibly still injured?). So he fell out of the draft.

Like I said, he was a nice player and I'll take your word on the 2nd round grade. I forgot all the specifics.

None the less, he was passed over for whatever reason for 7 rounds, so even the Texans weren't willing to risk a pick.

I suppose it is fair to say we shouldn't have risked a pick on Hardesty who had issues himself, but to make it sound like we should have taken Foster over Hardesty is bogus.

It is what it is. We can always look at any bust a few years later and point out numerous players we should have taken.

If I could have tomorrows lotto picks today, just once in my life, I would be much wealthier than I am.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Foster wasn't buried on the depth chart his senior year. He started 10 of the 11 games that year. He lost a little over a hundred carries to Hardesty and others, but he was less effective and had major fumbling isues. The coaching changes were his third in 4 years while at Tennessee.

Foster fell out of the draft because he was a one year wonder and had major fumbling and consistency issues to go along with the bad pro-day.
