I really want Mirza Teletovic. Yes, purely based on reports I have read as I don't watch Euroleague , but he sure seems promising and the Nets and Cavs apparently are his preferred locales (Nets have Gerald Wallace starting SF while we have Gee. I think he might see us as having a bigger opportunity?)

He's apparently a 6'9 PF that can't rebound or play defense...
..But can shoot the ball VERY well..
Sounds like a good compliment to AV and TT. A nice 4 to stretch the D.

yeah, he's a younger, cheaper, more efficient Jamison who doesn't mind being a backup and taking all of the shots (via reports/interviews). Really, more of a Ryan Anderson type player.
we could use him (43% 3pt shooter, 2nd in Euroleague at fouls drawn, etc.)

Apparently we waived Manny Harris.
Looking to bring in a Vet SG (Redd?)
I liked Manny, not just cause he went to UM, he seemed to have potential. But bounced between the D League last year...

Guards: Irving, Waiters, Gibson, Backup-PG-TBN and...Azubuike? does this mean we are keeping him on the roster? Or, we could look to sign a vet SG.
SF: Gee, Casspi, 3rd string SF TBN - preferably SF/SG combo.
Bigs: TT, AV, Zeller, Erden, Jones, Walton, Big TBN
please, no more Luke.

had him slotted above as the 3rd string SG. I sort of expect us to waive him and sign 2 different guys though (Weems, Teletovic, etc.)

atlanta says: "I give up" nets say: "I give up" first time I have seen 2 teams throw up the white flag in the same deal. Atlanta is breaking down their team and rebuilding. Joe Johnson held that team competitive. Josh Smith is likely now on the market too. the Nets can't possibly sign Deron, Gerald Wallace, Joe Johnson and still have room for Dwight, right? sort of makes Dwight look even more foolish for his "1 team on my list" talk. http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/...son-sources-sayQuote:
expiring contracts of Jordan Farmar, Johan Petro, Anthony Morrow and Jordan Williams along with DeShawn Stevenson (via sign-and-trade) and a future first-round pick (lottery-protected in 2013 via Houston) to Atlanta in exchange for Johnson. This trade construction allows the Nets to meet two of their key objectives, as they managed to keep promising guard MarShon Brooks out of the trade as well as retain their own first-round pick in 2013.

Well apparetly the deal with Kevin Jones was partially guarenteed, so I assume that means we'll be seeing him at least this year. And also we (for some reason) made a qualifying offer to Erden

No way they can fit Howard now. He's going to the Lakers (most likely) or Rockets.

I think ATL figured out they'd be stuck at the 4 seed forever until JoeJ left and then they'd suck.
So they figured to speed up the process.
Following the OKC build we are of sucking horribly for a bit to be better in the future...
I have NO IDEA what the Nets are doing. I hope D-Will picks the Mavs just for the hilarity of it all...

If Williams picks the Mavs then they are the favorites to get Howard as well. Brooklyn then would probably go all in on Steve Nash.

I didn't know Danny Ferry was ATLs GM.
In his first week on the job he has gotten rid of ATLs two worst contracts (JoeJ and Marvin Williams)
I feel kind of bad for the deal he got here. More so than Mike Brown (who hasn't proved to be much more than average)
I think had we had Ferry here before or when we got LBJ, we'd have been better off...

If we'd had Ferry before we got LBJ, we might not have ever got LBJ ......
Just a slight improvement here or there a year or 2 before and we might not have won that lottery pick.
Of course, as it turned out, we might have been better off not winning that lottery ........

or do they roll the dice and go Goran Dragic + Ilyasova combo platter?
Dragic JoeJ G-Force Ilyasova B.Lopez
It's not a great lineup, but it could be a "fun" lineup and one that will give them something to sell when they move to Brooklyn.

what price? if we can get Teletovic much cheaper, then I'll take his shooting %'s. I don't trust Ilyasova's fully as last year was the first time he was a good 3pt shooter. was that a fluke or real? (probably in the middle)

was thinking more GS initially (they don't have the depth of Denver), but yeah.

That is incredible. Johnson has one of the worst contracts in the league, a max deal for a guy who would probably be the third best player on a championship team. All he got back was expiring contracts and a probable mid-round pick, but that's fine.
Then he turns Williams, who is not a good player with two years left on his contract, into Devin Harris, who is at least above-average and has an expiring contract.
Now there is talk of Horford going to Orlando for Dwight Howard (who is from Atlanta).
If they can move J-Smoove they will open up a ton of cap space and be set up for the future.

is Atlanta (sans JoeJ, Marvin, Horford and likely Josh Smith) a better team than the Magic? other than hometown (which we know doesn't factor in all that much with these guys), why would Dwight prefer Atlanta?
and I had a thought that if the Nets do miss on Deron, might they still be in play for Dwight (they did keep Marshon Brooks and their own 1st rounder as potential trade assets)

Maybe they want to get out of Horford's deal? (4 years, 48 mill)
Bring in Dwight, maybe he stays, if he leaves, they are cap free and able to start over.

according to Kelly Dwyer, Josh Smith and Dwight Howard are superpals and that's the reasoning behind them offering Horford.

Devin Harris, J-Smoove, and Howard is a pretty good three guys to start with add a bunch of cap space and it could be interesting. And black athletes love to play in Atlanta (according to Michael Wilbon), so that might attract some guys.

If this guy turns out to be a Wade-type player (hopefully more durable and not such a drama queen) than our backcourt is going to be FRIGHTENING.
Teams will have to think twice about their rotations and how getting early fouls could change an entire game.
We just need that 3/wing player, preferably someone who can shoulder a big portion of the defensive load.
I can't wait to see them play. I know for sure I will be doing the NBA online thingy, hopefully they do it again, where you pay a discounted price for a few teams entire schedule.
Something I LOVE about Waiters game that I also loved in Kyrie - they both finish incredibly well. Both of them are very good at protecting the ball and finishing strong.

He is also extremely capable of creating his own shot. (which goes along with finishing, I guess)
I was reminded of that Sports Science thing they did on Richardson, where they showed the incredible downforce he could withstand stopping and cutting. It seems like Waiters has similar type ability, where he can go from full dribble to stop, step back, and shoot .... while the defender is still trying to recover and stop.
He also appears to have excellent court vision, and sees where the defense is going as he makes his move.
I think that we are going to see a lot of easy shots for guys with him and Irving doing a drive and dish if defenses start to collapse on them.

Definitely. We need a couple of snipers, or Casspi to actually pick up his game.
I just love the nightmare Irving and Waiters could produce.
Sad thing is, the Browns will have played 2 months before we get to see these guys in live action, and the Browns season right now seems light years away.

yeah, he shot 37% from 3pt land his first 2 years in the NBA. 31% last year. hopefully, he gets that % back.

We can only hope that he just wasn't acclimated to a new situation. New city, new teammates, new coach, new system, etc.. I'm not banking on it, but one can hope.
If you just look at his potential, he would be a nice fit alongside KI and Waiters, and even TT.

He was significantly down on both his FG% and his 3 point % compared to his rookie year. He played fewer minuted, but really only 20 per game compared to 25 per game as a rookie. I can't see that hindering his growth all that much.
His 3 PT shooting really dropped like a rock last year, and I'm sure that at least part of that had to do with often playing with no one to collapse and dish when Irving was out. With both Irving and Waiters capable of doing so next year, I think that will make everyone just that much better.

Casspi actually started the year off worse from 3pt land, which was with Irving. He missed an absolute ton of open looks.
Whatever the reason for his dropoff, there is hope that he can regain his form. Of course, many of us were hoping after the trade that he could kick the 37% up over 40% and become our SF-corner-sharp-shooter. So much for those plans.
At present, I hope that he can get that shot back and become a solid backup SF. I think there's a decent chance that happens.

With the way this team is built, we just need a defensive stopper at the SF spot that can hit the occasional 3

well, Gee better be working on his outside shot then because I don't think Casspi will ever be considered a "defensive stopper"

I heard on 92.3 the Fan that the Cavs are interested in Brandon Roy. If he's healthy I'd take a look at him.

He has interest from contenders. No way he comes here unless we horribly overpay for him. And even then I doubt he would...
