73 degrees in my house.
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

Eh - it's summer. We had 104 here thursday. Daughter still had her game.
I get to work on the second floor (top floor) of an empty bank building on Tuesday - no a/c, no fans. Supposed to be 93 that day Outside. My prediction is, inside it will be 100 or so.

95 yesterday, with very high humidity.
Today was "only" upper 80s ...... but it didn't feel anywhere near as humid.
My lawn is screaming for rain. I water it and it evaporates before it can really sink in.

I've been told no major rain until October in NEO...the long-term forecast and Farmer's Almanac agrees. The meteorologists said July and Aug and Sept will be below-average precip and above-average temps.
i.e. it will be 84-95'F during the day and 67-75'F at night, no rain. Either hot and dry or hot and humid. no rain.
This is the worst drought since '88.

It's hot and very dry ...... and idiots are setting off fireworks all over the place. Don't these jackwads realize that one small spark could start a serious fire? Hopefully if they start one it hits only their own house.

It's 75 at 6:15am. The good news is it is supposed to cool down, only calling for 104 today!! Going to drop all the way down to 98 for the 4th.

I work in a shop with massive, 100 ton machinery pumpin' out metal and it's about ten degrees hotter in there than outside on average. Our thermometer said it was literally 110 inside our facility on Thursday! (I know it's the "irate" graemlin, but its usage relates strictly to the temperature in this case.)

This winter, when it's colder than hell, 105 won't seem so bad.
When I was in junior high school, I started bailing hay for the local farmers. I was happy to be making $1.25 an hour and didn't even think about how hot it was...unless I was unloading the wagons, stacking bails in the top of the barn..that was hot. It made you appreciate working on the wagon.
Some are bothered by the heat and it can be life threatening. Here in Ohio, some area's were hit with high winds from a storms that went through the state on Friday. Some of those areas are going to be without power for a few days. The same weather system pushed across Ohio and West Virginia, all the way to Atlantic coast.
We need to check in on those who may be without any way to stay cool. In our area, churches are open as cooling centers until the power is restored.

In my much younger days when I was installing alarm systems in peoples homes we ran all our wires in the attics. Hot work. The stale dry air of an attic filled with dust that's been there for however long the house has was never what you called a pleasant experience. One day it was about 90 outside and hot in that attic so at lunch I went to a hardware store and purchased an oven thermometer. I hung it in the attic and went about my work. An hour later I looked at it. 145! Folks let me tell you, you can feel that heat in your lungs when you breathe.
The upside and yes there is an upside. When you reach the attic scuttle to exit and that rush of air hits you, that 90 degree rush of air feels so damn good! Seriously it's like standing in front of an air conditioner.

We are seeing birds that we don't usually see at our feeders, I think due to the bird bath. Nuthatch, titmouses (titmice?), woodpeckers, flickers, and others. Usually we only see sparrows, cardinals, blue jays, goldfinch, chickadees, and some raucous crows. The other night, around dusk, there was a doe in our back yard drinking from the birdbath. Water's scarce for the animals - put some out for them if you can.

No doubt... the birds and chipmunks have been sipping at the water that collects in the pans beneath our flower pots. The creek in the woods behind us is bone dry so the critters are looking for water anywhere they can find it.

My girlfriends house does not have power in Roanoke, VA. Might not get it back until friday. The irritating thing is tat her neighbor has power. her house is using the power lines from the alley ND her neighbors use the lines from the front of the house. Old houses can be interesting.

I'm on the lucky end of this.
Our house is on the corner and has power while the rest of the road is still without. #luckyashell

Oh boy, just talked to my folks down in WV. No power anywhere, meaning no gas stations, stores, nothing. No water either. I'll cut any WV jokes off at the pass and say, no, its not ALWAYS like that. I told them to come up to Columbus, but they're acting like they won't find a gas station w/ power before they run out. So stinkin' hot too . . .

I drove through WV yesterday to get to Roanoke from Columbus. It is chaos there. Any gas station that had power had 50 or so cars waiting in line. Glad I filled up in Columbus. Wendy's had a line out the door about 50 feet long - probably 100 or so people in it.
I stopped by the casino in Charleston and it was full power however. They've it quite a nice backup power setup there so they can keep taking money. At least I walked out $600 up (for once).

Another line of severe forming near Chi town. Severe storms prediction center already looking to issue watch for area between Chicago to around Dayton- Cincinnati area. Storms looking to follow a line just south of Friday (for now). Hopefully we are not having another 900 mile derecho forming like Friday, but there does look to be potential for severe weather in some of the same areas that got clobbered Friday.

It was in the low 80's here for a few days and it was pretty bad I feel funny saying that, but it was actually pretty uncomfortable... probably more humidity than I'm used to in Ohio..

My mom's family is spread out all around Salem/Roanoke... it's crazy there right now. I've been getting pictures from family on trees on houses/cars... thankfully no one was hurt, but they are pretty warm as about half of them are without power.

Ah yes, Denver. Isn't that the place where they charge illegal imigrants less than out of state tuition. So if you are an American you pay more than some illegal. Denver's motto must be, We arejust as rediculous as California.

98 degrees when we left Cincy yesterday afternoon, ran into one heck of a nasty storm near columbus and saw the temp drop to 67, which was all we could see as we sat on 71 North waiting for the car to blow off the side of the road.

Was 95 yesterday with a heat index of 108 here. Took the bike out for a cruise around 1:30, and did it ever feel hot, even cruising along at 60 was hot. Pulled into a watering hole around 2:30 to catch some A/C and refreshment. Even our sea breeze off the Gulf is useless, since the water temps near shore are in the low 90's. Got quite a sunburn on my arms and face today.

I'm actually glad I've been on third shift for this stretch of heat. I'd much rather be working in an un-air conditioned shop when it's dark out than when the sun's beating down in the upper 90s. Come winter time... day shift without question!
