"Yeah, there was a failed test," Gordon told Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer on Wednesday. "But definitely something I want to get past. Coming out here, I have a new experience, a new foundation to get started, and I don't really plan on looking back in the past anymore. I only look toward my future."
This is a great way to be thinking...i hope him the very best.

Q: Now that WR Josh Gordon has gone to the Cleveland Browns, how big a difference-maker can he be? Is he a legitimate No. 2 receiver?
-- Brad (Ohio)
A: I'll say this, Brad: One NFL executive told me Gordon has Randy Moss-like talents. Another said Gordon is a faster Brandon Marshall. So the talent definitely is there. He gives the Browns a big, downfield threat. But there also are major questions about his maturity, decision-making and determination. Gordon now will have a chance to answer those questions. If he takes his new job seriously and grows up, he can be a big-time difference maker. It's up to him.

It's safe to say that I would be very happy with a Randy Moss-like wide receiver. I would also settle for a faster Brandon Marshall. I expect nothing less.

pretty much how I see it. If the worse thing the kid did was smoke some weed and tested postive I dont see any risk
Three times, not once, After the second he changed schools for a fresh start. Then screwed that up too. Then, after becoming a Brown, lied about the third offense.
No, that's anot a pattern of satupidity. Nothing to worry about here!

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Yet how many people wanted Justin Blackmon with a top 5 draft pick?

As long as he was honest with the FO about the failed test at Utah.I could not care less if he lies or tells a partial truth to reporters.Haven't heard he was anything less than truthful with Heckert.
I thought yesterday about how happy I was that we did not take Blackmon since, unless things have changed and I haven't heard, he is not in training camp.

No doubt it's a worry and a gamble....but one worth taking IMO.
Getting him around the right guys and away from the old posse is the key.

I don't care if he's blazed out of his mind every day of his life, if he shows up and catches footballs.

Some of you guys keep saying that, and your thinking is completely screwed up.
It doesn't matter if he's a crackhead, meth head or pothead. The stuff is illegal. It's a banned substance. He knew that and chose to use it. He got busted. He continued. He got busted a third time. So it's not about which drugs are harder than the others, it's about doing something he is not allowed to do, doing it even though he had been busted, and doing it again.
It's like taking HGH. He isn't allowed. If he gets caught, it hurts our team. Period, End of story.

I agree, but in the grand scheme, it's probably like a 20 year old getting arrested for underage drinking.
My hope is the paychecks actually straighten him out a bit. I know that sounds goofy in some ways, but in other ways, it gives him something to protect. Protecting a potential NFL future isn't always enough incentive for some. Protecting the green sometimes is.
Moss might be a good example. He had his troubles in college but from all I recall he managed to keep it together once the checks started to roll in.
If I was a owner, I'd hire 2 guys in one big van. They are on duty from 7PM until 7AM. Their job is to go pick up one of the players and whoever else, and their car. Just call to get picked up and have your car driven to your home.

That's a great idea!
But what would we call them?
I like the name "Taxi"!
Aw crap, it's already taken...

I am pretty sure that all teams already have that available for their players. Why players choose not to utilize the service is beyond me.

Or maybe they don't want the team to know how much they are drinking and partying.
Heck, I would use it all the time. Even when not planning on drinking. It's free and I don't have to deal with trying to find parking.

Yeah, that would be great until he fails drug tests and winds up suspended.
The simple fact is that if you want to play in the NFL, you better be willing to give up the smoke, or get real lucky about missing drug tests.

It's funny how so many don't get it. It's not a question about weed. It's a question that even though he's been busted, he keeps doing it over and over again. He did it three times that he was caught.
And people need to remember, with Goodell in the drivers seat now, and three offenses under this kids belt already?
They better hope his past is behind him. Funny thing the kid says "It was so long ago" I didn't know last year was that long ago.
I think weed should be legal and I see nothing wrong with it. But that doesn't change the fact that it isn't and getting busted three times in a three year period isn't a one time accident. He'll be on Goodells radar so all those excuse makers better hope he backs them up by staying clean.
Something he's shown he hasn't been able to do over the past two years. Now he's got a big fat check in his hands. Not a good scenario.....

Thats true...
and someone should just inform him...If you can fly straight for 5-15 years, you could make enough money that you could buy/smoke as much as you want after your career.
Stay straight for your career...work your tail off and be good and get paid...then you can spend as much time as you want hittin that green if you want. Just be good for 15% of your life

I think everyone gets that Gordon is a repeat offender. What I think most people have realized is that going into the season with the same group of WRs is scarier than thinking Gordon will get caught smoking again. Little can't do it on his own. The rest of the squad is not good enough to start on most, if not all, other NFL teams. Gordon is an athletic upgrade that was desperately needed. I'm glad we took the chance. Now we just hope he develops into a freak and keeps his nose clean.

I'm sure we all hope he gets and follows that train of thought.
I'm hoping once it sinks in just how many millions he's already cost himself by following this path so far, that a bell goes off in his head.
Now that he's a Brown, we all hope for the best. But if people don't realise this was not just a gamble, but a HUGE gamble, they're only fooling themselves.....
