Brian Sipe, the Pruitts, Dave Logan, Reggie Rucker, Ozzie, Clay, etc, all wore the orange pants. What's not to like? I liked the look in brown or white jerseys. I'd also be okay with alternating orange pants with white, along with alternating brown and white jerseys - but never liked the orange jerseys. I really like the plain orange helmet. Like others, I think of that as our logo.

Bernie's uniform...It's my personaly favorite and I hope they bring it back. I would like to see Orange Pants/Brown Jerseys for Home and White on White for away games.

Please don't bring back the orange jersey and don't put a logo on the Helmets everything else I would be okay.

Go Browns!!

I could see them adding "Cleveland" or "Browns" to the helmets, but I really can't see much beyond that. How do you create a "Brown" logo? Maybe an iconic silhouette of Jim Brown or something? That might be OK.

I just want a winner. If we change anything except the city and the name and win, I'm OK with it.

I love the elf. A lot more than the parade of crap they drummed up. I would like to keep the look we have now sacred for home games. And I helped start the Elf revolt on the old board. Lot of proven marketing in the little guy, and he IS the Browns of my youth. Go Elf!

The Browns don't make overpriced cookies and live in a tree.
The elf is embarrassing. It's apparently something Modell and I agree on. It's weak, small, childish. Many things from the past have been put away. Washboards, wooden wheels, plow and oxen... The elf should be seen as the relic it is. Look back with fondness if you'd like but lets not go from being a laughing stock for our win loss record to being a laughing stock for a rediculous logo too.

I don't care about any history or what not concerning the elf. It looks stupid, it is stupid, and it sucks. It would be the most feeble logo/mascot ever.

A Little History of Brownie the Elf

Thanks and read " where they were elf-like creatures " and you will see in folklore Brownies and Elfs are not the same things much as a great dane is a horse like creature yet is not a pony nore a horse.
Elfs are human sized Brownies are smaller then Dwarfs. They both have pointed ears. Other then that they are completly different creatures. Brownies are like Sprites and Pixies in nature.
Not that it matters just suprises me how many people mix them up.

I agree, but if they put the elf on the helmets and we win a superbowl, I'll get over it LOL and so will you

Haslam made it clear that this is a marketing driven league.. I think you can count on a new name on the stadium, new unis, new logos all over the place and a serious case of Browns Branding.

You'll see that and you will see a winner.. I just feel it in my bones. this guy won't accept less.

Count me in with the orange pants with browns top. Count me in with no elf. Never been a fan of the elf. They need to redesign him into something mean and cool before I would even consider it.

I truely hope you are wrong because the Browns colors are globally known already just like the Yankees pin stripes. You see them you know the team period you dont need anything else to brand the team its already branded.

Rename the stadium I could care less but mess with the colors or add a Logo you are shooting yourself in the foot IMHO. Coke tried that once too and failed to an epic level.

We are the ONLY team without a logo, we have the most unigue team in the league. If we didnt believe that then why did we fight for our colors and team in 1995? We didnt want the rams or the some other team we wanted OUR Team OUR Colors and NO- Logo.

At least thats what I wanted and still want.

Funny how everybody says leave the tradition alone. Yet, the "Brownie king" is part of the tradition.

To us older guys, the "Brownie" reminds us of the team that was a winner. Those who think it is weak, have no idea what a power house this team was, and that logo was part of the tradition. It was on trading cards and pennants. The "dawg" logo, IMO, was a desperate move to create a new logo. It was stolen from the Georgia bulldogs.

To younger fans, the plain uniforms and the classic orange helmets are associated with nothing but losing.

Many teams have changed their uniforms, and kept the basic colors and logos. IMO, it is time for the "new" Browns to create their own identity, as far as uniforms and logos go. I say keep the colors, but create a new persona for the new generation of Browns fans.

To me a ball cap with just a picture of the helmet is the absolute weakest logo going. I know many Steeler fans, and many of them even comment that the "Brownie" elf is a cool logo.

Time has come to start new traditions and distance ourselves from the travesty this franchise has become since Modell moved the team. Living on the memories of 40 years ago is getting old. Time to infuse new traditions and a winning culture.

The other thing that drives me nuts is the "no cheerleader" crowd. Why? I just don't get it. I want our team to have the hottest group in the league. Are cheerleaders somehow going to jinx the team?

In the end, though, I don't care what they do to the uniform, I just want them to strive for a consistent winner. H&H have started the "rebirth" of a stable franchise finally, my hope is they are as smart as I think they are, and tweak anything they want, except the process that has been started as far as building a strong nucleus of young players and letting them grow into a winner.

I like our fall colors, favorite team, favorite time of the year. It just goes together. Our colors won't change but I believe we will definitely see new uniforms and a new logo. It is hard to market the orange helmet.

I would do the rottweiler with a deflated football in its mouth for the logo. The one i posted above, I hated the catoonish look but they had the right idea. Should have just been an actual pic of a dog crushing a football in its mouth.

It's a results driven family and man. The difference between Jimmy and Randy is Jimmy actually had to work and he actually made a difference in his fathers business.

Jimmy's dad had a great thing going, but son Jimmy took it to another level with his vision and drive. It wasn't about having gas stations anymore, it was about travel centers, and they started pumping a lot of fuel, not to mention rents from brands like McDonalds, Arbys, KFC, Burger King, to set up shop in their plaza's.

The other son gets elected Governor of the State of Tennessee.

I'd say a pretty results driven family. Dad buys a gas station and truns it in to 80 or so. The oldest son turns that in to travel centers and $19-20 billion is sales and buys a NFL team, the other son ends up the Governor of the state.

No matter where you are from, politics, or team you root for, you have to give them a tip of the cap.

Well done Haslam clan! Mama and Big Jim Haslam did good.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

And that there in is the problem. Most people now ( see post below yours) see the browns as the Dawgs. Now imagine if they had put that on the helmet because once you do it your done you cant change it.
I say when those Steelers fans see your cap with an orange helmet on it they know exactly what team that is just as when you see a few colored diamands you know what team that is.
We are branded and I being old school like it. They failed in the new stadium when they didnt extend the dawg pound out to the end zone. What if they had made the =B= the new logo? Do you think you would be happy? Would that make your hat cooler?

You may be older then me and I can respect the Brownie however I dont think he has any place on the helmets anymore then I think a Dog has any place there either. Of course all Jmho

And I want to go back to the original orange. Not sure when it happened (with the rebirth?) but our orange is a lot brighter than it was when I was growing up. It used to be this dark orange almost a burnt orange (with brownish undertones) but now it is too bright, too Tennessee volunteer orange. JMHO.

They didn't build that!

In all seriousness I'm excited to see what happens. I think we're on the right track right now and I do like our coaching staff and front office.

With an engaged owner I can see this thing turning around soon.

brownie....elf...who cares...

call it what you want, its part of our tradition.

I think its cool, thats almost the only shirt or hat i'll buy...

The rest just say cleveland browns...player jerseys are a waste.

Our team is what it is...this owner will do what he wants too...

Everyone says its weak...like a logo has anything to do with the anything

If anything, the other team probably talked smack about it, and we kicked there butts.

I hope we keep the helmets just they way they are...I hope they bring back the "brownie"

For that matter...i hope we get cheerleaders too

I'll be watching no matter what they do

aren't you confusing "Brownie elf" and "keebler elf"

The elf isn't embarrassing....the team we have been fielding has been embarrassing.

Having no logo on our helmets is outdated too...all the other teams have them.

Our logo...or lack of logo has absolutely nothing to do with anything...

I've got news for you....the name "Cleveland Browns" has been a laughing stock for years now....should we change that too? Like nobody would notice?

This is really comical.

Pluto's open letter to Haslam.

http://www.cleveland.com/pluto/blog/index.ssf/2012/08/terry_plutos_open_letter_to_ne.html

Terry Pluto's open letter to new Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam

BEREA, Ohio -- Dear Jimmy Haslam,

So glad you did your homework and hit all the major notes just right in your first press conference.

Before anyone asked, you stressed that you bought the Browns to keep them in Cleveland and to win in Cleveland. The fans had to love how you kept calling the Steelers "that other team" rather than saying the name.

To those who didn't live through the trauma of the move to Baltimore in 1995, it may be hard to understand the fear and paranoia about a new ownership group. For all the criticism and doubts about Randy Lerner, fans knew he was committed to keeping the team here.

So you need to keep accenting that point to the fans. The Browns belong in Cleveland. But don't be afraid to say you will do something with the stadium. You'll see it and feel it when you attend next Wednesday's practice there.

The stadium is -- well -- OK. But it has about as much personality as a waiting area at the Department of Motor Vehicles. The only nickname that it has locally is "factory of sadness," from comedian Mike Polk Jr. I know, you'll probably sell the naming rights. You have to pump a lot of gas to pay Lerner the $1 billion over the next few years. So it may be Flying J Stadium or even Pilot Park.

But whatever you do ... don't touch the helmet. Not a single finger print on the pure orange helmet.

Certain things must be treated with reverence. There's Paul Brown. There's the 1964 Browns. There's Bernie Kosar. There's Brian Sipe and the Kardiac Kids. And yes, the orange helmet.

Whatever you do, don't talk about your beloved Tennessee Vols or the glories of the SEC. This is Big Ten Country, and some recent bowl games are very sore spots.

You are absolutely right about the draft being important, but don't expect every first-rounder to become an "All-Pro." That's a bit too much to ask. But first-rounders who always become starters and most make a few Pro Bowls would be great.

Just don't compare a first round pick to "a mad dog in a meat market." Do an Internet search on a guy named Mike Junkin.

Let's hope you never say this one of your top draft picks: "He's lost in the weeds out there." That's how Bill Belichick said a rookie linebacker named Craig Powell looked on the field. And don't say anything like "The officer said he was the nicest guy that he's ever arrested." That's how Carmen Policy tried to spin the problems of Gerard Warren.

And never draft a guy whose nickname is "Big Money." That was how the aforementioned Mr. Warren was known coming out of Florida.

You talked about guys "with character." So know about first-rounders such as poor William Green, who tried to explain his stab wound as the result of falling down a flight of stairs.

Hey, these things happen to the Browns.

Jimmy, understand that fans here want you to be a success. They are beaten down by all the Sunday beat downs. The team has a great tradition, but it continues to shrink in rear view mirror of memory as the decades roll down the highway of time.

The last time the Browns were contenders was the late 1980s. That means no one under 30 -- perhaps 35 -- remembers it. The last time the Browns won a playoff game was 1994 -- and a year later, the team moved.

The last time the Browns had a winning record at home was 2007, and that was the only time since the team returned in 1999. The last time they heard someone was going to blow up the franchise and start over was -- yesterday, with this sale.

So make smart changes, but not changes for the sake of doing something new.

They saw you stand in front of the media and confidently speak about what owning the Browns means to you. And it means a lot.

But remember, it will never mean as much to you as it does to those who have lived with this time all of their lives. Treat them right, and they will respond with more love than you'd ever imagine.
