Whats killing the economy much more than any policy is high oil prices. When I'm making 45k/yr and putting 100 a week into my 38mpg putt putt mobile to get to work, I have very little to offer in the way of consuming.
You commute 1000 miles a week?

I was talking to my brother-in-law yesterday. He is a VP for a college.
This is a bit simplistic explanation, but I will try to make my point.
Sometime back they had to lay off some people due to budgeting. Then came the unemployment extensions by the big 0. The college would have been on the hook for around $40K for unemployment under the previous rules. Once the extensions went into place that got up to over $200,000. What is ironic, they wanted to hire back 3 people, but they couldn't since the money was tabbed for people to not work. Its crazy. So, multiply that problem across the country for businesses and you will know why we have 8.3% unemployment.
