Kevin Kolb out with bruised ribsUpdated: August 5, 2012, 9:38 PM

CANTON, Ohio -- Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb was shaken up on a hard tackle and left the Hall of Fame game against the New Orleans Saints with bruised ribs.

Kolb was tackled hard by Sedrick Ellis as he let go of a pass for his only completion in three series on Sunday night. Kolb landed hard on his right side, got to his knees and put his helmet on the ground, staying down while trainers talked to him. He walked off the field without assistance after a couple of minutes.

Kolb and John Skelton are competing for the starting job. Kolb had a rough night -- his first pass was intercepted. Kolb finished 1 of 4 for 4 yards. Skelton replaced him.

funny thing is that Skelton was much worse last year than Kolb (who was not good). it's just the AZ defense got healthy and started playing well later in the year.

Much worse? I'd argue that Skelton was better.

because the defense played better?

Skelton 55% 11TD 14INT 7.0YPA 68.9QBrating 18.4pts/game
Kolb 58% 9TD 8INT 7.7YPA 81.1QBrating 20.3pts/game

Which is better?

note: pts/game do not take into effect how many the defense, STs scored because it's the Cardinals and I don't want to put the effort into doing that much research for AZ.

I know Peterson won at least one of those games via Punt Returns by himself basically.

there were a couple defensive TDs too, but Kolb played 2 games in December and I don't remember which games they occurred in (Kolb was 2-0 in December when the defense was playing well).

I know when the Manning to ARI rumors were happening, there were a couple people hear that were OK with the idea of Kolb getting released and coming here...

I just think he's not a fit for their offense (as much as Skelton may be)

He's a WCO guy, it's like Garcia toiling for two years here and in Det, then going and lighting it up in Philly...

maybe. but, Kolb did in AZ what he did in Philly (better YPA in AZ but he had Larry Fitzgerald). he should be a bit better this year as he should be more comfortable, but that's around league average.
