Crap X3. My thoughts are that when you teach for a test, you are teaching to learn to achieve a goal. You are teaching to prioritize and focus on what's required to meet standards for job performance. You're not wasting time on bs that will do nothing for you once you're out of school.

Don't get me wrong, a lot of what he says about education is spot on... The way we are teaching it, the way we are not teaching the fundamentals of learning, etc.. I couldn't agree more. The part about republicans setting up this system just to keep minorities down is the part that is beyond total crap.

He acts as if you can take away tests and all of the sudden kids are just going to want to learn... they are going to start studying math and science just to know it... even if there is no test. Inner city kids are going to stop hanging out on the corner and form reading clubs around Renaisance writers... The one thing he doesn't address in his whole speech is parents. Until parents care, until they are at least present and involved, nothing is going to change. You can structure education any way you want.
