or Haden appealed the suspension and the NFL and NFLPA are trying to come to an agreement on the matter?
Or perhaps he even won the appeal. The league doesn't announce suspensions that are overturned on appeal.

Holmgren recently discussed that he is appealing. I think he would update if he won the appeal but I could be wrong.

Actually, I would think that you would just not hear of it again, and it would get swept aside and disappear. There's nothing to be gained by giving publicity to it, and the fact that he is in the lineup would be all the clarity anyone needs.
just my $0.02.

Yup, let it keep going too. When we're 5-7 let them announce the 4 game ban for the rest of the season.
With the Browns luck, we'd be 7-5 and then they'd announce the 4 game ban,

In other words, they let us have him for the opener against the Eagles so that it wouldn't be a complete blow-out.

Well we knew it was coming. Gave us a chance to see some of the rookies play and find out which one to play in his place.
If you need 3 years to be a winner you got here 2 years to early. Get it done Browns.

When it rains it pours I guess.
Does this mean Skrine and Wade are the current starters if Brown's injury is serious?

Or it just opens up the roster spot for SF to occupy

Yep. They suspended him for our easy stretch of games against Cincy, Buffalo, Baltimore and the Giants.
T-Wade, come on down. You're the next contestant on "Who Wants To Get Burned by a Pro Bowl Receiver?".

Keeping their O off the field is another defense. Kick the butts on our Three and Out Club a little (a pun, but a place to start). I expected it, but don't hate it less. Hurry up October!
