Anyone wish to guess who they might be?
My guesses are:
Oniel Cousins Garth Gerhart Stanley Daniels William Green Anwuan Reed
A bit OL heavy, but at lest one of the three will be out of a job.

Joe Thomas Athyba Rubin Joe Haden Trent Richardson Brandon Weeden *edit* how sad is it that I had to pause to think of two more names for that list after listing Haden?

Benard is probably headed to IR. So that will take care of one spot.

True, but teams normally don't put the players on the IR until the final cuts, but that fact I think could keep a DE prospect (Green or Stanford) around for a while.

Those look like good guesses to me. I think they cut the wrong Reed the first go-round and they'll remedy that this time through.

Yeah, I was mildly surprised that Bert Reed was cut so soon too, though I thought he might make the PS and still might, but he showed the ability to, one get open and two hang on to the ball, but with Norwood a pretty good lock to make the team and a similar talent. It was probably going to happen next week regardless.

Panthers gave up on their 2010 4th rounder DE Eric Norwood....he only had 1 sack last season as a backup but I think he might be worth a look for RDE. He's undersized at 6'1, 260 and probably a liability against the run but he was terror at South Carolina and an All American Selection

Browns make roster moves
Posted 4 minutes ago
The Browns made a series of roster moves, the team announced Monday evening.
The Cleveland Browns today were awarded defensive lineman Ernest Owusu off waivers from Minnesota, the club announced. In addition the team made the following roster moves:
Waived/Injured (3)
DL Marcus Benard
DL Auston English
DB Antwuan Reed
Placed on Injured Reserve (2)
LB Emmanuel Acho
LB Chris Gocong
Placed on Reserve Physically Unable to Perform (1)
DL Phil Taylor
Owusu originally signed with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2012. He was a four-year letterman at the University of California (2008-11) and appeared in 42 games with 18 starts and recorded 55 career tackles, eight sacks and one forced fumble. Born on May 26, 1988, the 6-4, 275-pound Owusu is a native of Nashville, Tenn., where he attended Father Ryan High School.

Norwood is worth a look because we certainly need a pass rusher. Hope we put in a claim.

So they cut Benard? Or did he get placed on some kind of injury list?

I liked Bernard. Wanted to see what he could do with one more season.
Sad about this move.
Also, if I understand correctly, a dislocated elbow does not take long to recover from. They just must not have seen him as a fit here.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

If he is not picked up on waivers, then he gets an injury settlement correct?
I wasn't aware that Auston English and Antwuan Reed where even injured.

Dont know anything about Owusu, hope hes better than Jayme Mitchell...
Acho on IR is interesting to me. Wonder what his injury was. Hope that he comes back better than he was this year. Guess that opens up more room for LJ Fort and Craig Robertson.

I think Ðt used to be the new team only picked up the balance of the contract but that may have changed during the last cba.
Not certain on this but I believe we buy out his contract and that money is his day 1. If he gets picked up by anyone it is a separate deal. I

I tell ya what, I can't remember the last linebacker that wowed me like Craig Robertson has. I hate to get to excited over someone in preseason games due to the preseason princess factor but man that kid looks like Derrick Brooks out there.

I'm pretty sure it means that if he clears waivers we can put him on IR or sign him to an injury settlement.

i'm thinking his injury sure sounds like a "we drafted this guy but he's getting beaten out by UDFAs. let's give him a year to improve" injury.

Yeah, this one. gocong and Acho still count against the roster count until the season starts. We can IR the other guys if they clear waivers without taking up the roster spot if they clear waivers (think Don Carey). I think the team either thought someone would/might claim Gocong or Acho (or they really didn't want to lose them) but figured the other three were safe or didn't care.

Don't be sad. We have a bunch of guys who warmed our hearts with potential but in the end, just sucked.
See ya, Marcus. You have been spotted a pretty good grub steak if you worked things properly.
How many of you would have a entirely different life had you been able to pay off a $250,000 home at 24??
That is all I am asking. I am not even talking about having any left over, just insurance and property tax, you had no monthly mortgage payment.
Would your life have been or be a lot easier, less stressful?
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

Right and if they clear waivers (likely) we can do one of two things put them on the seasons IR list or pay them an injury settlement if they qualify. (there was certain criteria with the last CBA they had to meet iirc) Not sure if or what the new CBA's rules on this are.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp12/story/_/id/8308214/phillip-taylor-placed-pup-cleveland-brownsBrowns place Phillip Taylor on PUP Updated: August 27, 2012, 6:57 PM ET Associated Press 0 0 8 EMAIL PRINT BEREA, Ohio -- Marcus Benard's inspiring comeback has been diverted. Benard, who luckily survived a motorcycle accident last year, was waived Monday by the Cleveland Browns after the defensive end dislocated his left elbow in Friday night's exhibition loss to Philadelphia. Benard could return to the club if he's not claimed by another team. It's been a rough year for the 27-year-old Benard, who led the Browns in sacks in 2010. Last October, not long after leaving practice, Benard crashed his three-wheel motorcycle into a guardrail and was thrown an estimated 80 yards. Benard sustained a broken hand and other serious injuries that required a three-day hospital stay. During minicamp this year, Benard, bearing a nasty scar on his hand, spoke about how the incident had given him a new outlook on life and he expressed gratitude at being able to raise his three sons. He had played well during training camp and seemed to be part of the Browns' plans for this season before he was injured in the fourth quarter against the Eagles on a running play near the goal line. The Browns (No. 30 in the AP Pro32) made several other moves Monday as they were required by the NFL to trim their roster to 75. They must be down to 53 by Friday at 9 p.m. As expected, the club placed starting defensive tackle Phil Taylor on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, which means he can't play for at least the first six weeks of the season. Taylor, a first-round draft pick in 2010 who started all 16 games as a rookie last season, tore a chest muscle lifting weights at the team's training facility in May. Per league rules, Taylor must sit out through the Browns' Oct. 14 game against Cincinnati. If he returns, the team has a three-week period when Taylor can begin practicing. Once he practices, the Browns have an additional three weeks to activate Taylor or put him on injured reserve and end his season.<
r /> The club also placed starting linebacker Chris Gocong and rookie linebacker Emmanuel Acho on IR, ending their seasons. Gocong, who didn't miss a game in his first two seasons with the Browns, tore his Achilles in practice on Aug. 4. The team never disclosed the nature of Acho's injury. In addition, the Browns waived defensive lineman Auston English and defensive back Antwuan Reed. Like Acho, their injuries were not disclosed. Cleveland was awarded defensive lineman Ernest Owusu off waivers from the Minnesota. The 6-foot-4, 275-pounder signed with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in May.
Owusu (oh-WOO-sue) played four years at California, appearing in 42 games and making 18 starts for the Bears.

Waived injured means that the player is injured, and will be subject to the waiver process, and another team can claim them. If they go unclaimed, then they revert back to the Browns, and go onto their IR list, and are out for the season.

General response: I didn't realize Acho was injured. Did it happen in the last game?
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

At least that put him in field goal position. Seriously, I was bummed when I saw him walking off the field. I wish him well, hope he has a speedy recovery, and hope he catches on somewhere not in our division.

He's been out of practices and games off and on all summer. I'm pretty sure that he missed both the 2nd and 3rd pre-season games.

I don't think that we'll go with more than 2 rookie OL. We'll probably only keep 8 ... or 9 at most, with 7 active on game days. We already have Schwartz and Miller, so there's really no spot for another rookie.
Lots of former Browns I see. I'd just as soon have then remain former Browns.
Is Ventrone related to Ray?
Didn't we have Reinders a year or 2 ago?
Hargrove will be suspended for 8 games for his part in the BountyGate scandal.
I would be interested in Deuce Lutui if he could also play Tackle, and was in shape.
