IMO Young's bubble has burst. I think he has a very small chance to MAKE the team. Sims has outperformed, not to mention Young underperformed last year.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Fred Davis had passed him up and he just couldn't stay healthy. Cooley sure did have sticky hands in his prime though.

I don't understand the Adcock thing. Admittedly I paid attention to Blackmon when watching the Okie St games but wasn't Adcock a 1st team consensus all american? Early in the year he was "projected" (notice the quotes) as a 1st round draft pick by the draft pundits. Then after the college football season his stock dropped and didn't even get drafted. Now he is cut.
I am pretty sure that he spent time at both LT and RT. Weeden knows him well. Perhaps worth a look?

At this point, anybody is worth throwing in the rotation to get Cousins off the roster. He truly is a waste of a professional football player and roster spot.

General response: I didn't realize Acho was injured. Did it happen in the last game?
He's been out of practices and games off and on all summer. I'm pretty sure that he missed both the 2nd and 3rd pre-season games.
Acho did play in GB. I cant recall seeing him after that though.

Well until just recently Young has been in the same boat with the likes of Mitchell.
Did the team see enough good things last season from Young to warrant overlooking his missed opportunities?
I don't know the answer to that question, but to me he has not.

I think he'll audition for his job on thursday....
while it obviously wont be the entirety of his job, it will go a long way towards proving he can be healthy enough to play and play well

I think he's definitely worth bringing in if we're primarily worried about edge speed rushers. I still don't have a real good feel of what this offense is supposed to look like, though.

How's Eric Hagg doing, I remember reading in early camp/pre-season he was primed to start over Usama Young... now I keep hearing about Sims. How possible is it that these two make the team and Young gets cut?

From my perspective, it looks that way. Hagg and Sims make the team and Young may be a goner.

I don't think that we'll go with more than 2 rookie OL. We'll probably only keep 8 ... or 9 at most, with 7 active on game days. We already have Schwartz and Miller, so there's really no spot for another rookie.
Lots of former Browns I see. I'd just as soon have then remain former Browns.
Is Ventrone related to Ray?
Didn't we have Reinders a year or 2 ago?
Hargrove will be suspended for 8 games for his part in the BountyGate scandal.
I would be interested in Deuce Lutui if he could also play Tackle, and was in shape.
Good memory on Reiders Y. I hadn't remembered the name til you tweaked it. We did have him as an UDFA. He's a Canadian kid and never even played NCAA ball if I recall. Just had the sick measureables and agility.
Was weird to see Sean Jones' name on there. I actually thought he was a decent safety when we had him but time stops for no man and he's past his prime now.

i think with Ward's injury history (wasn't Hagg banged up last year, too?) we kind of have to keep 4 safeties. I can't imagine they'd choose Ventrone over Young.
I think Young and Watson (and to some extent Taylor) are the guys Shurmur was talking about when he basically said "If you're a young guy and you've got a 'proven' injured vet ahead of you... tough luck."

Young has proven 3 things,t he can't cover, he can't tackle and he he can't stay healthy. Sims has made more memorable plays this preseason than Young made in 16 games last year.
WEll I shouldnt say that. Young had many memorable plays. I remember Young chasing a 270lb TE in the tenn game and watching the TE run away from. How about afraid to tackle that same TE a few plays later and his half ass attempt to push him out of bounds.
I would rather have Ventrone out there than Young. Atleast Ventrone isn't afraid to hit someone.

Hence the single quote. I certainly think sims is on the team, but I'd be very surprised if we don't keep foursafeties. I think you're blaming young for both Fujita AND young's contribution to that traumatic cook TD last year, as Fujita futilely chased cook then young limply bounced off of him on the sideline.
I guess someone should have put a bounty on cook that game... Maybe someone would have tackled him.

I still think the Jamal Lewis games against us in 2003 were the worst. He had 295 yards in the first game and no one could tackle him. Then he had 205 yards the second game...and no one could tackle him. I just remember Robert Griffith, Anthony Henry, and Daylon McCtucheon falling off him over and over again.

Oh that's one thing you can say about Watson. He's proven to be injured!

Three concussions last year. Ended the season on IR. Missed a lot of time already so far this year.......
Yes, I'd say that's pretty "proven". So proven I don't think Watson was who he was refering to at all.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Jeff Faine to the Bengals. OK, technically he was cut in March. But he's a former Brown and he went to a division rival . . .

With the beasts of defensive tackles that exist in the AFC North, Faine will have trouble. Even when he was young and at his physical best, he had problems going one on one. He was a good centre but more of a technical one. Him one on one against Ngata or Rubin? He'll get creamed.

Bengals are better off with Caine than without him. He's really not bad... Only reason he's still not here is because we signed bentley.

jc The Wilmington News Journal expects the Eagles to trade DE Darryl Tapp before Week 1. Tapp may be cut if he isn't traded, so interested parties could potentially wait and sign him for cheaper than his $2.575 million base salary after he's released. The 28-year-old Tapp registered 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble on limited snaps last season. He's buried behind Jason Babin, Trent Cole, Brandon Graham, Vinny Curry, and Philip Hunt on Philadelphia's defensive end depth chart. This guy has a pretty good sack to snap ratio....we should trade a conditional late rounder for Tapp....do it !

Not sure if this is sarcasm or not, but Faine was never in the division at the same time as Ngata. Faine last played for the Browns in 2005, Ngata was drafted in 2006.

No, what I'm saying is, it has been mentioned that JF had trouble with big DT's and Steve thinks he would still be here if not for Bentley. I think he would still have been gone because he did not fit our O. Does not matter what yr. Ngata was drafted because we played big DT's in our div. anyway. I think Mack is an upgrade by being able to play our style of O.

Actually we tackled him a lot. We kept him in check except 4 or 5 plays. I think that was what one of the coaches said.
He was right that most of his yards came from a couple of big runs. However for a coch to say that afyer a game isn't all that bright.

I think Faine left the year Ngata came in. Traded when we got D'Qwell Jackson in a move up. That year I really wanted Ngata and Demeco Ryans, lol. Jackson was a nice constellation prize though.
Anyway, at that time, there was some huge DT's in the AFC North. That guy on the Steelers, Casey Hampton, and then Baltimore probably had that guy Kelly Gregg. And I think the Bengals were sporting Sam Adams or someone like that. Either way, Jeff Faine got pushed around way too much for the style of football we were playing.

I remember we got rid of Ohara when we got Faine. He went on to win a super bowl. I think Faine did too. I think Faine had injury problems when he was here then when he left he was fine.

Haloti Ngata's first year in the NFL was in 2006.
