I don't have a pic of my bike, but this is a stock picture from Trek...except mine actually has pedals, a different saddle, bottle cages, and a computer.

So then you aren't really showing off 'your' bike.

Slacker. It's much harder to ride a bike without pedals. C'mon, you can DOOOOO it.

My baby.

Can't find an image small enough to embed, so just a link: Pic of my ride

The pedals are Shimano Ultegra 6700 C's....yes, I went and got carbon pedals.

I saw an older guy down today at an intersection. I'm not sure if he was clipped or fell, but there was a group of guys around him and blood all over one of his legs. He was sitting up drinking some water and he did have a helmet on, so I don't think it was too serious. A few minutes later, a squad came and picked him up. I should have offered to take his bike home for him....hindsight.

Nice ride, Purp! Are you all healed up from your wreck? And, was it on that bike?

I know, sadly, it was the only one that fit me. I have to keep it in the garage and not in my house, otherwise, I get too creeped out.

Thanks! And yes, that's the bike I wrecked on ... thankfully she wasn't harmed too badly and is completely back in shape and has already been ridden once
After going over the bars, the right-hand aero bar was bent down at a 45 degree angle from my body going over it, and the rear wheel wasn't round, but fortunately it didn't pancake. Besides that, the only real damage was a lot of scuffing and scraping of the brake handles and shifter levers.

I'm pretty much completely healed now. Today was my last day of physical/occupational therapy and tomorrow is a follow-up with the surgeon, and he should be telling me to resume all normal activities.... which is good, because I'm doing Warrior Dash on Sunday, lol! Things still hurt and get plenty sore (I ran about 4.3 miles last night, and after mile 3, the separated shoulder started to nag me), but they also continue to get better almost daily.

Edit to add: Did you two get matching Trek's? Nice bikes!

That's pretty much how I was after my wreck... never lost consciousness, and was fully ambulatory, sitting up, drinking from my water bottle until the ambulance arrived.

Glad you're getting back on the horse. I couldn't tell what happened because the guy was on a "crosswalk island" in the intersection. I wasn't sure if the other guys dragged him and his bike out of the street or if he got clipped by a right turner while approaching the island (or, he could've just toppled over while waiting on the island for clearance....don't ask me how I know).

Thing was, no matter what happened, it appeared he was sidewalk riding. VERY dangerous. The MUP was less than 300 feet to his East.

Just posted details above, but I'm doing really surprising well.
If, at the time of the accident, you had asked me how I thought I'd be after just 8 weeks, I would not have answered that I'd be nearly 100% with almost full range of motion and strength already... yet, here I am.

I, too, took a LONG break from cycling and was also a bit wobbly when I got back on. I was like....WTH, something is wrong with this bike!!

It happened to me once because I didn't want to unclip. After that, I unclipped miles before a light.

My favorite has always been "unclip right, fall left" Did that at least a half dozen times this year learning to ride clipped.

I've now fully adopted getting my butt off the seat and shifting my full body weight to one side, lol

Of course, I also need to work on some skills the average rider doesn't, like getting on the bike with the shoes already clipped in, and getting off of it the same way (leaving the shoes clipped)... but that's for racing.

LOL, hell no. I have drop bars, she has flat bars. Other than the fact they are both Treks without pedals, they are different.

oh, duh! Shows how non-detail oriented I am

I got as far as looking and seeing that at first glance they looked to have the same frame (which they don't), and I looked no further

I crashed the second day I had the bike. Was acting all cool, sightseeing, and my front tire went down a sharp drop off of the road and instead of doing the smart thing and stopping I just reacted and tried to get the front tire back up on the road. The result....a nice road rash on my left knee.

I *so* wish I would've seen it. But, it's how we learn....now you know. Kind of like my topple over sideways thing. I was living in Philly, waiting at a light behind a city bus and slowing way down, peddling backward, looking around, then BAM! I was on the pavement, still connected to my bike as one being. Luckily the only thing really hurt was my pride...still had to laugh though. What a "Dumas" I was.
