It doesn't mess anything up with the Falcons...they still have picks to give to move up for Johnson.

If anyone has marching orders, it is Atlanta....Blank doesn't want Johnson to leave atlanta...we drop to 8 and get the two second rounders...Johnson is their goal.....but now it does bring the Lions into the mix.

yep.....looks like the Lions might be the player.

For some reason I always think of Shaub as one of those back-ups who looks good AS A BACK-UP.

But when given the keys, he just looks like a back-up. Like Holcomb, Volek, or that guy out in KC. They look like they can handle a starters position, but in reality, they are only a reliable back-up.

Well if Oakland drafts Calvin then everything goes to crap...IF the draft goes like this then I would be the Happiest Person:

1) Raiders select: JaMarcus Russell
2) Lions trade to Falcons: Falcons get Calvin Johnson
3) The Browns have their choice of Thomas, Quinn, or Peterson......what a decision....

I think we will be a more likely trading partner. We would be the best value of any team interested in Johnson. If Savage doesn't want Thomas I hope he is smart enough to trade down.

Dont you live in Texas, Toad?

Get your resume together...as the Texans Front Office will be cleaned out within 2 years. You or I could do better....This is a T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E move....

First they pass on Reggie Bush and now this...

I'm interested to see what happens with David Carr...We know for a fact Savage is looking at him.

Of course, Johnson at #2 has a bigger contract than Johnson at #3 ...

Lions aren't a player for JOHNSON, they are a player for one of the QB's.

We aren't interested in Johnson, so the Lions can't put the fear in anyone. We are interested in a QB, so they can.

Now the Bucs are the team that wants Johnson, so we are the player.

Furthermore, as noted in the above posts, because of the value difference between the 2nd and 3rd picks in the first round, we're the logical choice. Assuming (and yes, it's an assumption) that the first round falls out in a manner where Johnson isn't a surprise selection before we're on the clock, It'll be a matter of whether or not Savage is willing to make a trade with a team. He may have Thomas fall into his lap and may not want to budge. I wouldn't blame him and would rather take the left tackle. Having said that, if he trades down and gets more picks, I'd completely understand it and wouldn't mind one bit.

Mav, I'm interested to see what they do with Carr as well. They've just dumped all their leverage with the acquisition of Schaub, so Carr looks like a released player now.

Matt Millen must have a brother that resides in the Texas front office...

For Carr:

I would offer a 6th or 7th rounder for him...seems like Texans would almost be stupid enough to do it too

Since Savage was interested (we don't know how much, but he was interested) in trading for Carr, when/if Carr gets released - I'd say it's a foregone conclusion that we're, at the very least, on the phone with his agent...

I would assume Savage has him restructure his contract too.

As far as a trade, your guess is as good as mine...hopefully Savage can get ahold of these jackasses in the Texans FO and get in on some of the sweet-action before Toad takes over and brings some sense to the Org...

Lookin at it...what do they have to give us in trade of picks? I doubt we'd swap 1sts - with them giving up their 2nd this and next year (IDIOTS)...Maybe Carr will cost a 4th or 5th rounder dependant upon a new deal being reached???

My opinon, dont trade any first day picks for Carr, if he cant be had for a 5th on down or after his release, than he's not worth it.

Hell, if I take over the Texans, the first thing I'll do is make a sweet deal for the Browns

Attack, the Raiders had been reported to be interested in Carr several weeks ago. Then it was Rodgers. Right now it's Russell *L*

Who knows with that walking-dead-zombie-bobblehead Al Davis.

If they do land a QB, that brings Johnson back into the picture, which brings a QB back into the picture for us, which throws all this speculation right out the window *L*

Raiders: 72 sacks given up last year.

At least Carr would be familiar with the system

Pdawg, I reserve all the "know it all" around here

Well toad atlanta now needs a backup qb. U know one thats mobile with a lot of intangibles.

drop to 8 send them a former third rounder and pick up 2 seconds. I could live with that. BTW peterson fans u could still get him at 8 lol.

No doubt...

Get him outta here.

As soon as he takes over, I have a feeling KFFL will be reporting the Texans traded their 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th round picks and Wali Lundy to the G-men for Rueben Droughns.

Just Kidding Toad.

WOW...that's a lot to give up for guy that only had 2-3 starts. I really like him and think he can succeed, but still....

Maybe the Browns go after Carr or do you think he is sick of expansion francises with weak lines?

I just got a little confused on what you were hearing. I think you are talking about Carr to Oakland. I wonder if they put that out there so the Packers sweeten their offer of Rodgers.

I just listened to what Herm Edwards said about Trent Green. He said that Trent "will do what's best for himself and his family."

That is a far cry from saying "Trent Green is our QB."

Now the Dolphins are hot on the heel for Green. If we were smart, we'd send a 2nd day pick away for him so that he can QB this team for the next couple of seasons so that we can put Frye on the bench to further evaluate him or find his replacement.

That would be awesome. I love Green and he could sure make Braylon and Winslow a lot better..shoot he could probably improve our running game cause teams would actually have to fear the pass...

That pic resembles you. Not only do we have to read you here, but we have those 1,000 word essays you call blog entries.

In all seriousness they are good reads. You need to put your link as your homepage so people get a chance to read them. They're kinda hard to find otherwise.

I like anderson. If i am gm i would really be watching to see if he is making improvement in the vertical game. I love his short to intermeditae passing but he is horrible with the deep ball.

Now dropping down to 8 well i would look for another trade down and go for a corner.

They are only 1000 words? GAWD, I've compacted them too much! Gotta fix that ASAP!

Seriously, I've got mixed opinions about the blog and advertising it, but that's neither here nor there, hehe.

We gotta find someone else to bring in at QB. I'll say Savage is an idiot if he thinks he can get away with another season of Anderson as our #2, but he's allready clearly shown he wants an upgrade at the position, so I know he'll find a guy.

Toad i really like Trent Green if u can get him in an offense that allows him to really work that 8-18 yard area. He can shread a D just by allowing receivers to run after the catch. To bad KC didnt have any receiver that could catch or run lol

Little late getting to this topic but,

I think if we are serious for a QB this year, with the neogations with Tuiasosopo, and rumors with Anthony Wright...I think Carr could succeed with us, given he would have way more than just Andre Johnson to throw to, our line is better than Houston's and could get better if we draft a guard in the 2nd round.

In order to get Carr I think we trade our 3rd or 4th Round pick if we can get away trading the 4th instead of the 3rd cool, Ken Dorsey, and Joe Andruzzi. The Texans could use a guard, (who knows, they may be dumber than we thought ) for David Carr, and a 5th Round selection.

Now that Schaub is gone, I think Carr is our only immediate fix left at QB for 2007, and if Phil thinks the QB situation needs addressed this year, I think this is the way to do it.

Considering that he's allready used to having a TE as his go-to guy, I think he's a perfect match here.

The thing with Anderson is, he is what he is, which is what he's always been... a big armed inaccurate passer that threw a ton of interceptions at Oregon State and will continue that through his NFL carreer. IT'S WHO HE IS.
I was stuck watching this guy and hearing about his guy constantly on local sports radio and TV coverage. He was a local hero because he was the best Beaver QB in a while. But by no means was he a great college QB. He'd make enough plays to make you think he was catching on and then massively over throw a receiver... interception. It's the exact same way he played last year for us. He'll never get it. Never.
If he's our starting QB next year we are in serious trouble.

If we were close to being a playoff team I would say go with Green. Being that were not, I'd rather get Carr here and compete with Frye. I am not ready to go and draft another QB this year unless we are able to gain picks from somewhere. Three first day picks don't go very far when you need replacements for 4 starters on the lines.
