It looks like the feds are proving this kid's point. This would be hilarious if it weren't so scary.

Special Agents visit boy’s home to ask about school project

Paul Joseph Watson
Infowars.com
Tuesday, September 11, 2012

In another shocking example of how the federal government is repositioning itself as a secret police force to target political dissidents, a 16-year-old boy was questioned by FBI agents over a You Tube video he created for a school project which highlighted how America was slipping into a police state.

The video clip above, which promotes the presidential campaign of Congressman Ron Paul, was put together by Justin Hallman as part of a project for his American Government class. The video helped earn Hallman an A+ pass and his teacher enthused about how impressed he was with Hallman’s efforts.

The video touches on a number of issues, including the National Defense Authorization Act, evidence suggesting the Republican caucus in Maine was fixed to disenfranchise Ron Paul, the hacktivist group Anonymous, military drills taking place in American cities, as well as eviscerations of the right to free speech.

About a month later, Hallman was shocked to receive a knock on the door of his family’s home from two FBI agents, including Special Agent Matthew Bowman. Hallman provided us with images of Bowman’s FBI card which he left at the property when Hallman decided not to answer the door.

When Hallman’s mother called the number on the card she was told by Bowman, “We need to talk to your son.”

The two FBI agents returned to the house and began to talk to Hallman about his interests and hobbies, a tactic Hallman saw as the FBI agents attempting to gain his trust.

The FBI agents then attempted to recruit Hallman to spy on Anonymous. “They wanted me to be an informant, to possibly put my life in danger, to help them arrest and gain intel on occupy protesters and hackers,” he writes.

The agents then began to question Hallman about his support for Ron Paul’s presidential campaign as well as a conversation he had conducted with his teacher about the Illuminati secret society.

“They also asked me why I had talked to my teacher about the Illuminati,” writes Hallman. “I told them it was just harmless talk about the 1776 Illuminati that formed from the enlightenment era. I said my teacher said they are/were terrorists and not to talk about them (this caused the FBI agents to look puzzled and they changed the subject very fast to Anonymous). In the end they finally left for an “important meeting.”

The fact that the FBI men knew about Hallman’s conversation with his teacher clearly suggests that it was the teacher or another official at the school who reported Hallman to the FBI in the first place.

Hallman concluded his email by expressing concern the incident could hamper his future career prospects.

“So that’s my story, a teen from the suburbs who was questioned by the FBI about a harmless free speech protected video I made for school. My record forever scarred with the truth that the FBI questioned me. When getting a job they will see that, when getting a passport they will see that, when going to college they will see that,” he writes.

This case represents merely the latest example of Americans being questioned, harassed and intimidated by different branches of the federal government over their political beliefs.

Last month former Marine Brandon Raub was kidnapped by authorities and held in a psychiatric ward for political posts made on Facebook, just one of thousands of similar ongoing cases. Gun owners are also having their firearms confiscated having been declared “mentally defective” due to their political beliefs.

Those are things that I'd like more information on.

Overall, the whole thing is rather curious.... but it could also just as easily be a matter of perspective. Without knowing what the FBI was told by whomever called them, it's kinda impossible to gauge their intentions.

My first question was, "What site did this come from?"

The answer is Infowars.com. A site I have never heard of. So I clicked on the link that was provided.

Infowars is a crap website. Here is a detailed article from that site that proposes that 9/11 was an inside job.

I now can disregard the story that was posted.

Why not google and check to see if it's true? I did and this site came up among many others.

I'm not saying the story isn't true. I'm saying the article posted was obviously slanted in favor of one side.

I thought I was reading a news article, not an opinion piece.

This is the article in the link you provided:

Quote:

Americans are concerned about the corruption of Obama and Romney, who are virtually twins politically. The FBI questioned 16 year-old Justin Hallman over a Ron Paul video he made for his American Government class, Infowars reported.

“It’s freaky how Brandon Raub disappeared for a political Facebook post and now the police state comes and investigates Justin Hallman’s school project. Americans have free speech thanks to George Washington. The USA is a Christian Republic - to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God. Government serves we the people,” said a teacher concerned with Obama and Romney who have a track record of disobeying the Constitution. For example Romney and Obama oppose the Bible and the Constitution’s right to trial with a jury. Romney and Obama want to put Americans in jail for lief without a trial in NDAA. Ron Paul opposes Obama and Romney’s ways as ‘unAmerican’.

“Christian front runner Ron Paul acknowledges that the USA is a Republic. However, Obama and Romney think the USA is a democracy, which is treason,” said an independent voter.

Lord Monckton and Sheriff Arpaio have proved that Obama also has a forged birth certificate. Arpaio has called Congress to investigate Obama, but they have done nothing.

Everyone should be concerned with Obama and Romney. Justin Hallman just took a series of video clips and the FBI questions Hallman. The Tea Party believes that the FBI is violating the Constitution like Obama.

“The corruption is worse than we knew. It’s eerie. Let’s call on God as Americans. He will save us. In God We Trust!” said an artist.

Hallman’s teacher, Mr. Sparks, liked the Ron Paul video so much he gave it a score of 45/35 points or 128%.

My thoughts exactly - I was wondering if anyone else noticed that. The article is obviously biased to one side. I hardly think that the events as described are remotely close to what happened.

There are only 2 ways that anybody will ever know that he was interviewed by the FBI.. 1. If he tells them, which he did, he told everybody... or 2. If he tries to get a security clearance that is performed by the FBI and just because they talked to him, doesn't mean squat unless he tried to lie about it.

I still don't see how a simple interview would show up on anything... If he wasn't charged with anything or put on some terror watch list, then this will probably never come up again.

Sure it will, this kid is scarred for life and he'll never amount to anything since the FBI knocked on his door.

I just thought, the FBI knocked on my door a year or so ago and they questioned me. Holy Crap I'm doomed!

Wait, it was about my neighbors kid who was applying for a job with them and they were doing a cursory check. Now I don't know whether to be scarred for life or not?

I'm so confused.

Yup, that was pretty much what I figured. (Especially considering the last few sentences). So many of these sites that peddle any "story" as truth, with some pretty sketcy sources to go along with it. They call the internet the information superhighway, but it's also a pretty big "mis-information" superhighway as well.

Dayumm.....tough crowd! So you folks would all OK with the FBI questioning your 16yo over a school project? That video sure didn't warrant that. I'd be one angry father if some teacher called the FBI on my son over something like this.

Do not reply to this thread..the FBI may come knocking on your door if you do...

Okay being serious....I have to think..

This is a made up bs story from a group trying to get back at the Gov't... or it's true..

Now if the FBI knew about this and did nothing ...and this kid went off and hurt a bunch of people..then the reaction would be..Why the hell didn't someone do something to stop this...whats wrong with this gov't not doing the job to protect the citizens of the USA....

Or this kid is innocent and did nothing wrong..but still some measures were taking to provide that innocent citizens weren't in harms way...

Imo...when people put information out on the internet for the world to see..that's exactly what happens...someone you don't want to deal with..sees it...

What in that video warranted a visit from the FBI? It was a school project that he got an A on. Should everyone that publicizes their dissatisfaction with the federal government be questioned? Would you be OK with the questioning if it were your son? I know I wouldn't.

honestly, I doubt I would have let them in the door without fully vetting things with them first and even then they aren't talking to him without me.

and, as can be seen, they just wanted to use him a spy to get information into some groups that probably liked his video. i doubt they wanted anything more than that.

Obviously somebody contacted them about it, so they looked into it, it was nothing, and they moved on.

Would you rather them not look into things that are called into them?

No. But if someone reported that he was a threat they should investigate. The article is not telling us the whole story.

No, but if they had a call on a project he did, and they investigated it in a respectful way, I would live with it. Its not like they came and kicked the doors down.

Depends on what it was. What if his science project was on how to make a home-made "dirty" bomb including methods of obtaining weapons grade plutonium? Add in a history of psychiatric disease ...

What did the FBI do wrong? They received a report about potentially dangerous or threatening behaviour. They investigated it, determined that it was a non issue and moved on. Did they arrest him? No. Did they physically assault him? No. They asked him a few questions. What rights of his were taken away/abused?

Imagine if they receive such a report, ignored it and then some preventable tragedy results. Numerous deaths , uproar and backlash over "Why didn't the FBI do something to prevent this? They knew about it."

And have any of you watched that video? If that received an A+ then the teacher needs to be fired. Some news cut-ups pasted together? Looks like a political commercial. No depth, no insight, no critical thinking on the kids part.

I could turn that around and say, if your neighbors kid killed 6 people, including your son, would you want to find out that the FBI had information that he may have been unstable and did nothing about it? In the end, I'm not exactly sure why they questioned him or what they wanted so it would depend on a lot of circumstances whether or not I would want them talking to my son.

First, I'm not sure "interrogating" is the right word.. based on the story, it doesn't seem like much of an interrogation, more like a little Q&A in the living room.

Second, I always find it amusing in these threads when people start saying what THEY would do in this situation and its usually bold and well thought out... which is generally hindsight because most people, if the FBI knocked on the door, their first thought would be, "Damn, this must be important, come in."

Third, it's possible that nobody "turned him in"... it is very possible that the FBI just found this project on youtube as it mines the internet for things with the right buzz words in them.

I get the feeling you're acting like they threw him in an isolated cell with a bright hot lamp, while one guy asked him questions and another slapped him into submission.

I'm with the others ... I don't see any "rights" violated here. They came in and asked him a couple of questions in his living room. Hardly "life-scarring", unless you're a drama queen. People would be much more up-in-arms had the FBI sat on it, and the kid wound up doing something.

These consipracty nuts are funny ... if the government does intervene and investigate something, then they're trying to covertly shut you up and silence you. If they don't do anything, then they just wanted it to happen so they could get their legislation/war declaration to pass.

On a side note - not directly related to this topic..............I was about 13-14 years old? During summer......no one else was home. We lived in the country.

I lit off some fire crackers on a weekday morning.

I kid you not, not 30 minutes later, when I was in the house - the doorbell rang. I answered it. 2 men. One of them said "We're with the FBI, I'm agent 'Smith', and this is agent 'Jones', is one of your parents home?"

I about crapped myself thinking "it was just some firecrackers".

Well, it turns out a neighbor of ours - she was in the Air Force at the time - well, they were considering her for duty on Air Force 1, and the FBI just wanted to ask some questions about her, her upbringing, etc.....just background check type of stuff. Scared me, though, at the time.
