Browns' Richardson has rib cartilage injury
By TOM WITHERS (AP Sports Writer) | The Associated Press – 8 hours ago

BEREA, Ohio (AP) -- Browns rookie running back Trent Richardson sustained a rib cartilage injury in Sunday's win over Cincinnati.

Richardson was injured in the first half when he was hit with a helmet in the right side. Browns coach Pat Shurmur said Monday that Richardson ''is fine and day to day.'' Richardson finished with 37 yards on 14 carries and had two catches for 17 yards as Cleveland snapped an 11-game losing streak - and 12-game skid against AFC North opponents - by beating the Bengals 34-24.

Richardson left the game midway through the third quarter and did not return. His replacement, Montario Hardesty, rushed for 56 yards and scored his first career touchdown.

Cleveland's players were not available for comment and won't practice until Wednesday.

The Browns (1-5) play at Indianapolis on Sunday.

Pretty vague as to what is actually wrong. Hopefully he practices Wednesday and this is a non-issue.

ON the Browns site, he's been interviewed and says he'll be there next sunday ready to play, so he's making it out to be no big deal.

But if he got hurt in the 1st half, that kinda makes sense as to why he sometimes didn't look effective.

Hope TR is OK. Might help us destroy fewer backs if we stopped feeding them into the sausage grinder up the middle so often (and so predictably). How many backs is this; our blocking needs to be better.

That's what I said when the announcers said it. Seemed crazy at the time, but then I thought back. He really hasn't played all that much.

Jets ran all OVER Indi on Sunday. We need to stick to the run w/ as many guys as it takes.

And a big YES to whoever said we should try something other than up the middle . . .

Colts are probably the least-talented team on defense in the NFL. Outside of Vontae Davis, Robert Mathis, and Dwight Freeney (who are now playing OLB in a 3-4), they've really got nothing.

If he can turn his TD to surgery ratio around I'll be happy. In the mean time call me skeptical. Glass knee Hardesty has a ways to go before I take my Courtney Brown glasses off when looking at him.

add in that Mathis missed last week with an injury and might be out and Freeney has been playing with an injury and has not been himself.

He's been active for 14 games in his career, starting only 4.

Including this year he has had only 103 total carries. Hard to scpre, as you said, when you're not on the field.

Named popped out to me on their defensive roster..Clifton Geathers... 6th round pick of ours a few years ago wasnt he?

Any team that has late round draft picks from us from a few years back MUST be desperate.

That being said, their defense ranks 17th....ours ranks 30th.

pts/game is always a better indicator. now, if they would take out defensive scores and ST scores it'd be even better, but I'm not about to do that.

anyways:

Browns 22nd w/ 27.2pts/game given up
Colts 27th w/ 29pts/game given up

bet the OVER this week

He was just promoted from the practice squad. He just had his 1st career tackle in the Colts most recent game.

Was he the guy with the enormous wingspan?

Yeah, I remember him as a physical specimen who didn't learn fast enough.

This should be interesting to watch the kids play indoors on a fast surface. Wish Benji was healthy him and Gordon (plus some Cribbs) could make this a real track meet and T Rich would be looking down lanes the size of 480.

As it is now I think we can score 24pts so its just a matter of holding them to less then that.

they average giving up 29 points and we average giving up 27.
so, I think you are low in your estimate.

Indy is giving up 29 ppg. I'd like to be at least average.

Your not including offense scoring.
We avg 22.3 per game
they avg 20 flat

Both of us have given up games of 41 pts and mid 30's so I would go by how many each team scores weighted with how much they give up.
We are very close in both but hold a slight edge in both.

well, if you are going to go there, then what you really need to do is figure out how many points more (or less) teams average vs. Indy and vs. Cle than they do against other teams. then add (or subtract) that point total from our average scored.

Enormous wingspan and no overpowering strength, or burst off the line from what I recall.

he was cut during training camp and they tried to put him on the practice squad and Miami took him because they had absolutely no 3-4DEs IIRC.

That's probably right.

Then he went on their practice squad, and then moved from team to team, from the looks of it.
