I called this Oregon/USC thing from a mile away... I've been saying for a week ...
Arizona beats USC, Oregon smashes Colorado ... The line on the USC/Oregon game comes out at around 6 (exactly right on that), the public pounces on Oregon (88% of the money is currently on Oregon and the line has moved to 7) .... USC beats Oregon.
1 part away from nailing this prediction lol.

Usc's defense is pretty awful. I would be surprised if Oregon didn't at least score 40, if not more. Lsu getting 10 pts at home looks more appealing to me. I can't remember the last time Lsu was a double digit home dog. If they find a way to throw the ball, that game will be another close one.

USC is the potential spoiler to a fun December debate. The "path" to undefeated:
Bama - @LSU, TxA&M, W.Carolina, Auburn - SEC Championship (Flor,UGa,SCar?)
KanState - OkieState, @TCU, @Baylor, Tx
ND - Pitt, @BC, Wake, @USC
Oregon - @USC, @Cal, Stanford, @Oregon State - Pac12 Champ (?South is cluster)
Louisville (might as well include): Temple, @Syracuse, UConn, @Rutgers

I assume that if they all go undefeated Oregon will jump ND and KanState due to their brutal finish to the year (and the others already having played the best teams on their schedule - so computer gap will close or flip).
ND and KanState should be neck-n-neck in computer standings, so I'll go with the human element of ND's prestige + finishing against USC being enough to have them with the better odds between those two teams.
The interesting thing is what if Bama loses to LSU again but all the others (or at least 2) finish undefeated? With all the SEC teams up top in the BCS, will they rig the system 2 years in a row to get Bama into the Nat'l title game even if they lose their division (again) if LSU loses the SEC champ game? Would they put a 1-loss Georgia team in over undefeated others (they control their destiny now)?

As far as ND v Oregon who gets in? Neither team played a brutal schedule , but ND's SOS would be slightly better (sorry beating MSU, mich and 3 loss USC doesn't impress me) Oregon has to continue to dominate and hope a strong finish against better competition than they've faced boosts them.
Notre Dame's only ranked opponent that they beat by the end of the year could be a 2 maybe 3 loss Oklahoma assuming Oregon beats Stanford and sc

the double-dip on USC (possibly) is also in consideration for Oregon.
and I'm not going to go team-by-team debating because I'm not really sure where I actually think yet. but, I'm just going on people projecting where the computer rankings will fall. they think that Oregon will jump up in the computer polls (ND/KState currently tied in 1st) and remain at 2nd in the humans (if Bama keeps rolling). That puts them in the driver's seat.

I think Jason Kendall's ankle injury will always be on the Mount Rushmore of graphis sports injuries. Maybe tied with Robin Ventura's slide of homeplate when his spike stuck on the plate. UGH!

i was watching live when Mike Utley went down. it was eery because we were at a party and there were many people seriously wondering if he died on the field. everybody was whispers until that thumbs up (actually they showed him move his hand before that but it's not as dramatic that way).
scariest feeling I have felt after an injury by far.

Oh crap, how could I forget about Johnny Knox from last year? That might be #2 on my list. I must have suppressed that memory because I was so shocked.
It was truly one of the only times I thought a guy was going to die on the field of play. I was terrified.

I've always thought that Napoleon McCallum's leg injury was the worst football injury I've ever seen, but as you said, nothing comes close to Malarchuk's throat being cut. Scary stuff.
I want the Cleveland Browns to be my pallbearers so they can let me down for the last time.

Yea he had a similar injury that Lattimore had and never played another down.. I would be shocked if this guy ever played again. I know Spurrier and the likes are trying to be optimistic, but Lattimore's knee took so much abuse on that play, I think he will be fortunate just to live a normal life free of pain. There's nothing wrong with hanging them up. It happens to the best.
Shaun Livingston's injury a few years ago with the Clippers was pretty nasty as well. Ruined his career.

Tim Krumrie for the bengals in the superbowl. The way he broke both bones in his calf/high ankle and dangled was gruesome.

I think the worst I ever saw in person was at an intramural softball game I was playing in during college. One of my teammates tried to slide into second, but he slid too close to the bag, and when the shortstop moved, I could see my teammate's ankle just kind of hanging there. It was pretty brutal, though nowhere near as brutal as the pro injuries mentioned above.
Luckily, the kid bounced back to just about 100%. The injury was severe, but it was actually pretty easily fixed.
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

jc We're 2-6, half the season's over and we won't make the POs...it's time to talk prospects This draft class doesn't look very strong, but that's almost always the case this early in the process... That said, 1st round guys I really like and am close to being sold on are DE Moore, DE Okafor, CB Milliner and CB Banks...we don't need a QB, OT or DT, so if we pick Top 10 and our only "value" positions to choose from are DE and CB I'd be ok to trade down a little to get back a 2nd rounder, IF we can get 1 of those 4....I'd prefer a DE though, esp. Moore who is taylor-made for our RDE need The next best, 3rd CB imho is UConn's Blidi Wreh-Wilson...a strong press-CB who can turn and run man-to-man too...I like Poyer too, but not sure he'd be a system-fit (more of a cover-2 guy, and smaller too)...not a fan of Amerson's and Rhodes' inconsistent play thus far...they should stay another year Not a big fan of the FS-class again...looks like you have to overdraft to get a "decent" one...not sure it'd be worth it. Vaccaro and Lester I'd be ok with but both are FS/SS tweeners....Fresno State's P.Thomas is having a huge year, but he's another tweener On Offense...I don't like the TE class at all, so the best "value" would be am 3rd day gamble pick at this position, someone like Cincy's T.Kelce, Vols M.Rivera or OSU's Stoneburner at WR, I really like LA Tech's Patton and Baylor's T.Williams...for the OL I like D.Thomas as a G prospect with RT-spot start ability...there's some G talent in this draft but I'd like an OL that can play both Right now, if we get Moore in the 1st and Wreh-Wilson in the 3rd, I'd be pretty happy...trade down and Okafor-Patton-1 of W-Wilson, Vaccaro, Lester would look nice too...but I'm pretty sure most of these guys will go higher when all is said and done

Jordan Poyer is the best CB in this draft. Only reason you probably haven't heard of him is because he plays for Oregon State.

I've been watching the Beavers locally. Poyer looks good. Can turn and run. His size scares me a little. He has a difficult time in press coverage against bigger receivers. I don't know if he has the frame to add much stregth/muscle to improve in that area.

I could not be happier to see ND down by 14 going into the 4th. Too bad they couldn't gt it in from the 2. Their stupidity and arrogance of Kelly not picking a QB needs to bite him at some point. That and I hate ND Go Pitt!
