ND's issue has been that they have played really well against some quality teams and really poorly against some worse ones. their offense has been incredibly uneven.
I attribute that to the coach not selecting a QB and sticking with him. If there is one thing us Browns fans know, inconsistency at QB can cause some problems.

Stanford, Oregon State, ND, Oklahoma State - this year LSU - the past few years Florida - in Spurrier's heydey and Tebow's freshman year. Texas - in alot of years
It doesn't matter as much in the college game. Guys are plugged in and out and teams are expected to just roll with it and there are plenty of examples of it working.

[SEC teams] essentially get a bye week every other week.
Ohio State played Indiana, Purdue and Illinois in a four-week span.
And florida played Missu, Louisiana Lafayette, Jackson st. in the heart of their season this year Lets not forget they started off with a brutal Bowling Green, A&M, Tenn, & Kentucky.
Lets play again with Georgia Buffalo, Mizzo, Fla int., Vandy, Tenn, got destroyed by SC. then they have that tough run down the stretch... Kentucky, Florida(down spiral'd), Ole miss, Auburn, Georgia Southern, and Georgia Tech.
Where are the tough games? Overhyped SC beats GA at home. Georgia barely beats a jekyl and Hyde Florida team who almost loss the last 2 weeks to nobodies, and SC only good win is against Georgia.. But these 3 teams are ranked in top 10? for what reason? The only big win they have are against each other and none of them I would consider proven or complete teams.
I would say Ohio states down "schedule" way tougher than Floridas. And normally Purdue and Illinois would be bowl eligible competitive teams.
At best Ohio State's and Florida's schedules have been about even. At worst, Florida's has been slightly tougher. Florida played a better MAC team in BG, and played A&M in week 2 whereas OSU played UCF, who have a good record but aren't in a good conference. OSU has also beaten Cal (barely...I was at that game...OSU caught a couple big breaks) and UAB, both 3-win teams, which is pretty much a wash with the cupcakes Florida has coming up. The second best team OSU will play this year will be 7-3 Wisconsin this week. How Purdue and Illinois typically are is completely irrelevant. They both stink this year, and one of them took OSU to overtime.
And despite all of that, if OSU was bowl eligible they'd most likely be ranked ahead of Florida by virtue of being unbeaten.
Look, I'm a Buckeyes fan, but to try and kid yourself that there has been any degree of difficulty whatsoever with their schedule this year is ridiculous. They've had about as much of a cakewalk to an undefeated season as any elite program could ask for. It's probably best for them that they can't go to the BCS championship game because, given how banged up their defense is and how much they've struggled with some teams they should've beaten handily (Cal, Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue), they probably wouldn't have fared very well.
I dont disagree with you for Ohio st. this year. But tOSU does attempt to put a quality non-conference team in there every year. That cannot be said about anyteam in the SEC except maybe Alabama. LSU schedules bottom half Pac10 opponents and played a home and none against oregon last year. But even both LSU and ALA wont go up north and play. I think last year against penn st was the first time in a long while. Its not the buckeyes fault that Cal isnt what they have been in the past few years. It's just the round robin cycle of mainly the SEC east that i feel is completely overrated every year and all they do is play themselves and still rank in top 10. And to tOSU credit they have continued to add top notch opponents in the upcoming years.

Tyler Bray had a funny quote:
Bray: "I'm paid to win games."
Reporter: "You're paid?"
Bray: "I mean ... my education. That's what the SEC likes to call 'getting paid.'"

Lsu played Oregon at the cowboy classic. It's not like that was played in death valley.
Auburn won the championship 2 years ago. Chisik might get fired, but that is a solid program, always has been. Petrino left Arkansas in a bind, same with Kiffin, the way he left in the middle of the night. Those 2 jobs would be considered top 3 or 4 jobs if they were in the big 10.
Outside of Kentucky, the Sec is far superior if you look at each program the past decade. It's not even close. Besides Ohio State, I hardly watch big 10 football anymore. The players, coaches, the whole product doesn't even compare to the sec. There's a reason the big 10 hasn't sniffed a championship since 2002.

j/c sad day for all Ohio and Toledo fans. but, take heart in that it looks like alot of the BCS conferences will not field enough teams for their allotment of bowl games this year. Both teams could still end up in a nice bowl. in fact, falling outside the MAC-3 (top 3 MAC schools have guaranteed slot) could be beneficial this season (Kent State, NoIll, and Ball State may take those slots): http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/wr...p;sct=cf_bf4_a3MAC Champ - GoDaddy on Jan. 6th vs. Sun Belt #2 (best bowl slot) MAC #2 - LittleCaesar on Dec. 26th vs. Random (due to OSU & PSU, Big10 will not field a team here) MAC #3 - Potato Bowl on Dec 15th vs. WAC (ugh, terrible spot) other possibilities: Dec. 21 Beef O'Brady vs. C-USA Dec. 27th Military vs. Random (could be last Pac12 team) ---- this is nice slot Dec. 28th Independence vs. Random (could be LaTech) ---- another good game and then the prime slot. a January 1st bowl game vs. a possible random team (hopefully they get a good one): Jan. 1st Heart of Dallas Bowl (the only downside is that the Bowl Officials may decide to go with a sellable Frank Solich vs. Larry Coker label. UTSA (Coker) won 6 games and may win 7 this year but have gotten crushed vs. any decent competition. They are brand new to football not just to FBS, so it's impressive. But, they would get blown out by Ohio.)

What's the chance a 1 loss SEC Champ (Bama/Georgia) gets in over an undefeated?
Would that just blatantly admit the SEC bias?
Why is Alabama still rated higher than a team that beat them in their own stadium?
Can we start the 4 team playoff this year? (K-State, Oregon, ND, SEC Champ)
How will the ratings compare if we get K-State and Oregon or ND versus last years all SEC game? Will the entire southern united states turn the channel, as opposed to everyone else last year? (3rd lowest rating in BCS history)

Now that Louisville has lost... I think a 1 loss team gets in ahead of Louisville but not ND, Oregon, or K State

Exactly.
It's all about schedule.
Notre Dame, Oregon, and Kansas State are all legit undefeated teams with legit challenges.
This isn't Boise State, who plays one ranked team all year, then a bunch of scrubs we're talking about.

...but how many of those three will be undefeated when it comes time to determine the BCS NCG?
(you don't have to say which team will lose a game, just how many)
I think only one will be left undefeated.

Just this week, I put money on Alabama to win the National Championship at +600.
I think Texas beats K-State and USC beats Notre Dame.
Oregon vs. Alabama in the National Championship Game.
Also, USC might very well beat Oregon next time.
Then Alabama vs. who knows.

you haven't watched Texas this year then. if Klein is healthy, they don't stand a chance.
unless DKR dies every week and inspires them to play well against mediocre opponents, they are toast.
unless, they just beat * State schools. their best games this year were against Oklahoma and Iowa State

Yup. Up to 2.5 right now.
I hope it goes over 3. I may play. Urban has a tremendous record when coming off a bye.
Ohio State's defense this year seems to be set up to stop a team like Wisconsin. They pound the ball. Much like MSU, Ohio State's defense should look pretty good.
Only negative is that maybe these kids are looking ahead to Michigan. It's bigger this year because it's the curtains for the season.

K-State is not losing the rest of the way. They're really strong on both sides of the ball.
Notre Dame's offense is offensive and they don't belong in the conversation. I doubt they beat USC.
And Oregon is weird. That is all.
But K-State is the best team in the country and I don't think it's all that close. I think they beat whoever they play and will be national champs.

i don't know. we have plenty of our players saying that the Wisconsin rivalry is one they look forward to as well. 6-5 the last 11 years, killed our 2010 season, took a Hail Mary to win last year.
i don't think we're looking past the Badgers

USC doesn't play defense. They can beat ND, but I'll take the team that plays defense as the favorite.

No way bama gets over an undefeated KSU/OU/ND this year...
Bama stayed above A&M because Bama was clearly the #1 team before the loss in most people's minds... Bama also beat LSU at their place and LSU beat A&M at their place... add in another loss for A&M and I actually think they are ranked right where they should be (coming from an Aggie fan)
I agree 100% with you on wanting to start the 4team playoff this year... is there a better year for it?? Three very good undefeated teams and likely a very good 1-loss SEC champion.
oh well...
and I think the ratings will be much better this year no matter who plays... TV stations are probably praying ND gets in because you'll get the ND lovers turning in to watch them win and the ND winners turning in to watch them lose.

BCS experts say you could see a Florida vs. Alabama BCS Title Game. LONG shot, but if K-State, Oregon and ND would all lose, there's an outside chance that the BCS Championship might be Alabama vs. Florida.

I'd puke.
I would say, around this point in the season we normally have 3-4 undefeated teams and most of the arguing is around what would happen if all stay undefeated....but they never do. Most lose at least one (by a upset or against a tough opponent).
So to me, it's still very early. Too many things can happen.
No lead is safe, no win is guaranteed, no route to going undefeated is easy.
I still think two of the three will lose a game.

Wow - honestly didn't know that - though Georgia wrapped it up last weekend... UF would get killed! At least I think UGA will make it a game... they've looked pretty good this year other than the SC let down

Well, in this scenario, Georgia would have two losses, after losing to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game.
It would be Florida, who didn't win their division, getting in.

Florida is playing horrible right now. Last 3 games were a loss and barely eeked out wins against 2 nobodies. I hope they wrong. I'm not convinced of Georgia either. They beat a down spiraling Florida team and who else? NO ONE any good. They are almost as bi-polar as Florida but with a better defense.
If everyone loses atleast 1 game.... I would think that Oregon still would have the best shot at making the championship game along with Alabama

for Florida to only have 1 loss at the end, they need to beat Florida State, which will erase alot of these last 3 weeks in most voters minds (whether it should or not)
for Georgia to only have 1 loss, they need to beat Bama for Bama to only have 1 loss, they need to beat Georgia
Oregon having 1 loss would matter when they lost. If they lose to Stanford tomorrow, then Stanford wins the division and plays UCLA/USC winner. I doubt Oregon gets enough oomph with their poor overall schedule without that extra game (and they would need Stanford to lose that game). And, if they lose in that Pac12 championship game, it will be the last thing the voters see.
if ND loses to USC, they have the same issue. their last game would be the loss. if KState loses to Texas, same problem.
So, you have Oregon/ND/KState/Florida all sitting with 1 loss and no conference championship (if Oregon loses to Stanford). Bama/Georgia also has 1 loss but won the SEC (they are in).
Who gets the other slot? Tough call, but the last thing anyone will have seen are losses for the first 3 teams and Florida beating likely BCS-bound Florida State and then likely watch Florida State beatup on GaTech or somebody in the ACC-Champ game.
I don't think they'd deserve it, but I can see why people think they could get in.

One of those situations where it just stuck with the call on the field because the evidence wasn't overwhelming...
Dunno, I thought it was a fumble, and I thought there was enough to overturn it.
