Just for giggles this morning, I created an "exit poll" on Survey Monkey and posted it to facebook. I thought it'd be interesting to see how that vote stood up to the popular vote and electoral college. It is a private vote, so I can't see who voted for whom. Please feel free to spend 30 seconds and "vote" on it, and feel free to share it. I'd love to have a few hundred "votes" by the end of the day.
So far, 18 votes, 13 for Obama and 5 for Romney, 0 for Other Candidate, and 0 for "Did not vote"
They are showing that there are still lines that are 3 hours + long in Miami-Dade and Broward counties here.
The campaigns agreed to allow voters in line to continue voting in 6 or 7 counties in Florida.
Long, long ballots in Florida are a major problem, from what I understand.
Why is it though, that in today's day and age, that voters walk into the polls without having made up their minds on how they are going to vote on issues? I never even have to read the issues at the poll, because I already know what I am voting for. (and who)
I have no idea why anyone would want to stand at the poll and read through all of the issues, and have questions they can't get answers to because of all of the legal-speak. I researched the issues we had on our ballot, and, while I voted an absentee ballot, it took me about 3 minutes to fill it out and verify my answers.

Florida is close, have a feeling Florida will decide the election
They just had the breakdown of turnout in Cuyahoga County, and that didn't look good for Obama, actually. The Democrat precincts reported turnout of under 50% at 5:00, while the Republican precincts showed 73%+ turnout at 5:00 PM. That was where Obama made his election in 2008.
That being said, I know better than to look at early returns in Ohio, because it really, really depends on what precincts have reported.
On a separate note, can someone please stop Linda McMahon from running for the Senate again. Geesh. How many times does she have to get beaten down before she gets the point?

Pennsylvania voting machine turns ‘Obama’ vote to ‘Romney’ Posted by Caitlin Dewey on November 6, 2012 at 3:20 pm
Pennsylvania election officials recalibrated a voting machine after a Youtube user posted a video of the machine changing his vote, according to MSNBC. The video shows the user, “centralpavote,” repeatedly pushing the Obama button while the machine checks the Romney box.
This is one of many voting irregularities reported across the country today. In one precinct on Philadelphia’s north side, broken machines led to long lines and at least 30 voters dropped out.
And there were reports of other machines doing exactly the opposite in other states.

Honestly, YTown, do you really believe that long ballots have anything to do with this? Since at least 2000, there have been long lines, voting machine shortages or irregularities, etc. in Republican governored swing states in areas expected to vote democratic. if therewere long ballots and lots of potential voters, there should be more voting capacity. The people who run the board of elections are responsible for that.

Last night there were about 300 or so people downtown to vote. That's less than a single day in the last election. I saw video of the early voting election sites in the last Presidential election, and there were hundreds and hundreds lined up around buildings. Not I'm sure that early absentee voting blunted some of that, but I don't think that it was a huge part of the vote in this area.
The news went around to some of the area polling places today. No lines. The biggest poll in Boardman had about 300 people through at noon. No lines. There doesn't seem to be massive turnout today, and this is a super heavy Democrat area.
I did hear that turnout in Cleveland was heavy, but heard no estimates.
I've been born and raised in Austintown, and I've never had to wait in a line to vote. That included last election. Unless a line of 2 people counted.

The city of Youngstown had incredible lines last time around. In 2008, I waited in line for about 40 minutes on election day, and normally I get right through. They showed people in the primary down at the board of election, with hundreds and hundreds of people in line waiting to vote. I had never seen that before.
Add in that there is so much early voting now, and it's stunning that there are long lines anywhere in Ohio.

Fox news here is reporting that Ohio is "fairly strong" for Obama right now.
Virginia is strong in some precincts for both candidates. This will be a pretty big one from what they are saying here.
Of course Florida....We are split 50/50 right now. With almost half the precincts reporting. But Miami-Dade and Broward are both still voting. So is the Tampa area. All very heavy Obama areas.

They just reported that Obama is down 7% among young voters from 2008.
It will be interesting, and maybe not until 10 days from now that we know who won Ohio. There are thousands and thousands of provisional ballots that won't be counted until 10 days from now.

They just showed the total vote in Florida, and Romney leads by something like 190 votes.

FoxNews just projected that the Republicans will retain, and possibly even expand their control in the House.

Yeah, I simply do not understand how, in this age of technology, we can't get something as important as elections correct beyond any user error or technology failure.
It shouldn't be this hard to get elections right.

Dems will grow in the senate lose a few seats in the house. I think Obama wins but Romney will end up with the popular vote. I think it is time to replace the electoral system and before Obama supporters cry sour grapes, I voted for the Green Party Candidate so :P
Florida is close, have a feeling Florida will decide the election
Dade and Broward county are only like 15 and 24 percent counted and are like a huge population of that state and have significant Latino and black vote that are voting between the 2 counties about 66% Obama. If these numbers hold up, Obama will be hard to beat in Florida.

Early voting in mahoning county was almost 40%
But Obama was well down from 2008 levels in early voting, and Romney was up significantly from McCain in 2008.
Kinda funny ..... FoxNews has the current electoral count at 153-153.

Obama with Wisconsin, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania. Looks like he's going to get re-elected since he's leading in Florida and essentially all the uncounted votes are in heavy-Democrat areas.
Huffington Post has it as 154-154 in electoral count.
