The other one is pretty much all NBA, and it's gonna get locked anyway, so let's keep this one about college hoops.

DC, good game by your boys last night.

Kentucky at #3 is an absolute joke. There's NO WAY they should be ranked that high.

We have a VERY serious problem at the point guard position.

And I know people will say, "Calipari's point guards always look bad early" and you're right. However, here's the difference....

Did Wall, Knight, Teague ever get taken out of a game the way Harrow did last night? No. Calipari let those guys learn on the fly, and make mistakes.

But, Harrow played 10 minutes, while Jarrod Polson - Yes, Jared Polson - played 22 minutes.

That tells me that Calipari sees something in Harrow that he doesn't believe is fixable...

Nerlens Noel got owned 1 on 1 last night. Dude is stronger than Anthony Davis but doesn't play nearly as physical as him. He got bullied down low and just wanted to block shots. I also don't think the PG situation will work out in the long run.

As good as Davis was, I think not having MKG will hurt Kentuky this year.

Here's the thing that blinds people about Anthony Davis.

Anthony Davis was HORRIBLE, and I mean hysterically bad offensively early in the year last year.

It's unfair to compare Noel to Davis, because honestly, Davis is a once in a decade type of player.

But, November Davis and November Noel .. November Noel is better.

Davis just had a much higher ceiling, and ultimately reached that, but from Day 1, Noel is ahead of where Davis was.

Noel couldn't get anything to fall last night, but he made a lot of good low post moves. Something Davis didn't really develop until, really the first part of March.

As far as the PG situation goes, I think you're going to see Kentucky eventually go with Archie Goodwin at the point. But Goodwin is a scorer, so it won't be the same offense as last year. It'll be more like when Knight was there, and the offense came from him.

1- Goodwin
2- Mays
3 - Wiltjer
4 - Poythress
5 - Noel

Is the line up you're going to eventually see.

Just read that Harrow had the flu and was playing with 102 degree temp.

Makes me feel a little better, because at least it means Cal wasn't just flat out playing Polson over Harrow.

Worst idea ever. I can't stand the idea of playing a game outside.

Things would have been fine during the day because the water wouldn't have cooled down.

Dumbest thing in the history of sports to play it at night. I guess the sun could have been a problem.

I was pretty happy with it.. Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from the outside in the first half. I thought it was funny when Dickie V tried to credit UK's defense at halftime for Marylands shooting performance. Maryland was open, they just sucked.

Alex Len is a beast. He will never get the pub but he's as good as Cody Zeller if not better. He has great hands.

Very happy that a number of our freshman played well.

It's all about potential and name recognition.. .Kentucky has both.

I can't say I watched a lot of Kentucky early last year so if you say Noel is ahead of Davis then I'll defer to your opinion but I was not overly impressed with him the other night, other than being a shot blocking presence he was largely a non-factor.

The WBC won that game for y'all... good game and I look for both teams to be a lot better come January/February...

Regarding Noel :

You're right, he was a non-factor, but it was mainly because he couldn't get the gimmes to drop.

He made moves in the low post that Davis couldn't make until basically March last year, the shots just didn't fall, but they will.

Noel also looked more comfortable on the court. Early last year, Davis had NO IDEA where he was supposed to be on the offensive end.

Davis was hysterically bad in November last year.

Like I said, I'll take your word for it. I just didn't see Noel making a real concerted effort to get the ball down low or insert himself into the offense... He only took 6 shots in 26 minutes and he only had 2 offensive rebounds..

I'm excited to see how Butler performs this year. They have some nice talent and size. They're not a sexy team but Woods and Smith give them a nice punch inside. They also have some good shooters. Wouldn't shock me if they had another deep run this year.

I'm actually excited to see how the buckeyes perform without Sully. He was a good player at times, but it was hard to watch him hog the basketball, and take everyone out of the offense. If Ross lives up to the hype we should be in for another great year.

Drinking game :

1. Every time they show the Christian Laettner shot, do a shot.
2. Die before the game even starts.

Cleveland State v. #5 Michigan tonight.
Hopefully, CSU can follow the model that YSU set forth in their upset.

Little does everyone know, this is not a publicity stunt, Laettner just needed the money after his NBA career

That's an amazing job Slocum has done there. I remember a few years ago, Joe Scalzo of the Vindicator was critical of him, for being surly, and just having a rotten personality. I know Ysu is probably one of the hardest places to win in division 1 basketball. The only coach I could remember having any success was Peters about 20 years ago. In that same article, Scalzo pointed out that Ysu puts a majority of their resources into football. He said that Akron's women's basketball program receives more funding than Ysu's men's basketball program

We are so much better than Duke, it's not even funny.

If the interior D keeps playing soft you won't beat anybody in the tourney by 10+ except some scrub in the first round.

Come on man, they're Kentuck. All they have to do is walk out on the court and everyone should fall over in awe

Sorry but I didn't see it that way at all. Kentucky upped their aggressiveness from the game against Maryland and still got out hustled. Cal has a long way to go to make this a top 5 team...

Noel has no offensive game outside of 2 feet of the rim or catching lobs. He was the number one recruit in the country because of his defensive ability, and in his first two college games the player he was guarding went to work on him and scored at an efficient rate.
