It's curtains for the league if Phil Jackson returns to the Lakers. Even with no training camp, I don't see how the greatest basketball coach of all time screws up Kobe/Howard/Gasol/Nash.

Unless, of course, they are never healthy together. (which is what happened to Brown)
I am still amazed that the Lakers were able to get Howard for as little as they had to pay. They gave up what .... Bynum, McRoberts, Eyenga, a 2015 conditional 2nd round pick, a 2017 1st round pick, and took back a couple of so-so contracts.
Man .... that's a steal, even though Howard is a headcase and a jackass. He's a talented headcase and jackass.

Said it on twitter last night, the cavs remind me if the browns.
Young and talented but not quite there. Depth is more of a problem with the cavs as with the browns I feel we actually have depth for the first time in forever. Don't get me wrong they still need pieces but they have come a long way.
I wonder if Grant is looking to do something before Feb or if he's gonna ride this out. As much as our bench sucks I'm glad Scott isn't running Kyrie and Dion into the ground. You need your bench. You can't win without them. They have to get it.
I normally don't agree with Colin cowherd but I heard him a few weeks ago talk about how the champion teams just don't do it. They rest guys. They don't race for the top record.

Home Court in the Finals IMO is a disadvantage. You HAVE to win an away game in the Finals or you're down 3-2 when you get back home. I hate the 2-3-2 format. As much as 2-2-1-1-1 sucks for travel, it makes SO much more sense. I thought we could contend for a 7-8 seed this year, injuries, and possibly the WORST bench I've ever seen may put a damper on that. But they may be fore the best? Another top 10 pick would be super nice. I doubt we're in the top 3 again though. Unless Stern and Gilert really DID sell their souls two years ago...

We as cavs fans know better than most.
The '08 Celtic team only won like two road games but they were in the conf finals and finals.
People were complaining about Scott going to his bench but he's doing the right thing. This will pay dividends 2 and 3 years down the line. I'm ok with it. The NBA season is long and the worst part of it is almost over. Going out on the west coast right off the bat is tough. This team could still get on fire later on and be in the mix.

I agree. If you earned the homecourt advantage, you should NEVER be down 3-2 and facing back to back elimination games if you win all of your games at home...

Shocker that the Lakers didn't hire Phil Jackson. I thought it was a done deal. Then we found out he asked for road games off, control over personnel, and an ownership stake. So he was pretty much asking for the jobs of the people that were hiring him.
The Lakers probably won't win it all, but they will be fun to watch with D'Antoni, Nash, and Howard.

Waiters going 3-15 hasn't helped. Gee has only shot 2-7.
Now Gee can be counted on for his defensive ability more than his scoring ..... but we need mre from Waiters.
I also don't understand how we haven't gotten any shots yet in this entire game for Gibson after he's been pretty hot lately. He's has 12, 19 and 16 in the last 3 games. This game he's gone 0-1 on FG.

Yeah, but he *only* went 16-21 ...... so .... it's not like he's perfect or something.  I really don't understand Scott's rotation tonight. Leuer and Walton combined for 23 minutes and 4 points. Really? Gibson only took 1 shot in 18 minutes? I do think that our backup rotation will be much better once we get Zeller back. I think that he can be a productive player. If we get Gibson involved, he can be productive. Waiters had a really rough game tonight, as did Gee on the offensive end. We also have to get Miles going. He's been a productive guy with Utah .... so hopefully we can get him going here too. If we can get those guys all going consistently, we can have a solid backup group in Zeller, Gibson, and Miles. Then we have pieces like Samuels, Sloan, and Leuer who can be very short term fill in guys. ... for 3-5 minutes/game. I just think that we need to get some continuity going.

I think that getting Zeller back will help a great deal.
Man I would love to find a top shelf SF in next year's draft and bump Gee to the bench. We'd then have 3 really solid scoring options in Zeller, Gee, and Gibson, (assuming we re-sign him) plus Gee being a top shelf defender to boot. We'd also have CJ Miles, who has been useful in the past.
Man that would be a nice 9 deep rotation. Throw in guys like Samuels, Leuer, and Sloan/Pargo as occasional "as needed" 2-4 minute guys.

Hard to say. He's obviously our best big man, but he's probably our most valuable trade asset as well. I'm guessing how we're doing as well as whether or not he's healthy when the trade deadline is looming (he hasn't been the last two seasons) will play a huge role in his future with the Cavs. I'm just anxious to see if he can make it past the 30-game point this season. If he can't stay healthy then how well he plays at the beginning of the season is totally irrelevant.

I can't see us moving Andy unless we somehow manage to get a top 10-12 pick for him ..... and that's not likely.
We have been swimming in mid to lower first round picks ... and 2nd rounders. We traded away 3 or 4 of our picks (I can't remember which now, and I'm not gonna go look it up) to move up for Zeller. However, we're probably not going to get into the lottery with lower round 1st and a couple of 2nd round picks.
Also, I think that the team plans on reducing Andy's minutes somewhat in order to keep him healthy. Zeller helps there. Further, teams can't collapse in the middle every time Andy gets his hands on the ball anymore, because he is a capable passer, and can hit the shooters on the outside for wide open shots. That keeps teams from banging away on him down low.
