I just don't think that they have learned to defend in the NBA yet.
He definitely has enough size and more than enough quickness and speed to defend in the NBA. Dion's career is only a few games old. Kinda early to write him off already. lol
As far as defense goes, Alonzo Gee is a guy who has made himself into a solid defender.
I wouldn't be opposed to trading Andy if we got value back ..... but I don't see anyone giving us comparable value back. I don't want a mid to late 1st round pick in return for Andy. I think that's a losing deal for us.
This team is very young, and growing. Kyrie is already a major, heavy duty scoring threat. Waiters has shown great range and driving ability. Thompson is turning into a double double threat every night.
Zeller looks like he can be a player. Maybe not a starting guy, but definitely a solid backup guy.
I heard something in tonight's game that the Cavaliers starting 5 have one of the best scoring differentials in the league. They need to work on their defense, and get the rotation among the backups figured out ...... but I think that they will be a serious playoff team by next season.

Pargo was a stud at Gonazaga. Got to watch a bit of him since his freshman year. I was excited when we signed him, and hoped he could finally put it together at the pro-level and become a solid backup at PG. Great to see him have a break-out night!
Actually, I don't mind the Cavaliers playing all of these teams hard, and losing in the final seconds, while Kyrie is out. It shows how far they have come.
If they add one more premium player to this team next year, they will be extremely dangerous. Hell, maybe they'll even add a premium player in the draft, and another quality veteran in free agency when they will have tons and tons of cap room to work with.
People expected this team to get run off the floor with Irving out .... and they haven't been. They have played very well, but have been missing their clutch, last shot guy. While Irving is out, other guys can learn to become that guy. They can also work on their defense, because no one wants to lose the way they have been losing games.
It's not pleasant, but this is how a very young team learns.

Yeah, but the Waiters pick was almost universally panned, as was, to a lesser degree, the Thompson pick last year.
Most "experts" liked the Irving pick .... even though some debated whether or not Williams should have been the pick. Most questioned the Thompson pick. Almost every so-called expert questioned the capability of Chris Grant when we took Waiters at 4. We were "supposed to" take Harrison Barnes. The experts liked the trade that brought us Zeller ... though some questioned what we gave up ... even though we were never going to add 3 or more rookies to this team.
There may not have been a consensus .... but many so called experts thought that we made mistakes with half of our picks in the last 2 drafts. Thus far Grant has shown that he might have a clue as to what he's doing.
