Even though I hate Wisconsin, that's pretty cool.
Have they listed possible replacements? Or are they just going to hire from within like they did Bielema?

It's on an internet message board, so it must be true!
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

Tuberville to Cincinnati?
It'll be interesting to hear the story unfold as to why he's leaving Texas Tech for a lesser program.

I can appreciate his pride and loyalty, but even without being a SEC homer I could name 6-7 jobs in the SEC that beat that, not to mention the OSU's, USC's, and Notre Dames of the world.
Louisville might break a top 25 job if I was kind, but more likely a top 50 job at best.

Seems to be some college coaches getting fired this year. May be UConn will fire its head coach and pick up Gene Chizik or something.
Very frustrating they denied us for Louisville in the ACC. I don't really see what we have to do to prove that we deserve to be in there any more than we have.
This break up of the Big East has been my nightmare and my Huskies are being left out in the cold. It's quite depressing. I've been hoping for an invitation to the Big 10 or ACC for awhile. I just don't get it. Our football program is decent, we went to the Fiesta Bowl two years ago. We beat Louisville this year, yet they are taken over us. The past two years we've gotten worse with this Paul Pasquerelli guy, although we did beat Univ of Maryland this year (who got our coach Randy Edsall). Either way, Conn football hasn't been the same without Edsall. This was the beginning of the destruction of Conn's pathway toward continuation toward a strong football/basketball team.
IMO we need a new football coach, instead of this Paul Pasquerelli loser. Someone good enough so that we can somehow get into one of these conferences. Whatever this coach costs, pay the guy (or girl, I don't care! Just get me in the damn Big Ten or ACC!)
Since 1999 we've won 3 NCAA Men's Basketball Titles. We have been a powerhouse in men's basketball. I'm not sure any ACC team can match that. Plus, we have a historical rivalry with Syracuse University. A school whose football team hasn't really been better than ours and a basketball team that has won at least won less title than us recently (i'm not sure that John Wallace's team beat Duke or whatever in that title game)
Academically we are supposedly a top 25 state university institution. Our academics are far superior to Louisville's.
Our girl's bball team has been the best team in the country for over a decade. And our soccer team just played in the NCAA Championship.
But no, UConn is stuck in the Big East. It's really a depressing thing for the state of Connecticut. Calhoun leaves, our basketball team is banned from the tournament, and now our conference has been destroyed, and no one is letting us join their conference. This in turn makes recruiting much more difficult for basketball and football, and our teams won't get any better. Therefore, our athletics decline and we still won't get into one of the big conferences.
It's a deadly cycle of discrimination, and it's a huge blow to the college's chances of remaining competitive in the athletic arena. I'm seeing the destruction of my favorite college athletic program and it feels awful.
Therefore, if we don't get into one of these conferences soon, I'd like to see people fired. The president of the school and the AD. Even the governor. Where are my state taxes going with respect to UConn? My concern is my sports team, and obviously my priorities aren't theirs. I don't care about the academics of the school or any of that garbage. My pride is in my UConn Huskies, and watching competitive UConn sports teams. It all just makes me really depressed, and something needs to be done. I'm in panic mode, and it seems like no one else is at UConn.

honestly, the UConn showing at the Fiesta bowl (only 3K of 17500K tickets sold) was about the biggest death knell that you could have received.
you bring a great basketball program, but not a big increase in football and limited fanbase craziness. UConn seems like it belongs in the ACC, but there's nothing pushing the ACC to actually do it.

Oh I know. It's just frustrating because our fanbase isn't very strong and our team really isn't that bad. We lost some close games this year. We beat Louisville (who somewhow got in the ACC) and we beat Univ of Maryland and our ex-coach (who got into the Big Ten).
Had the game been closer to home, I think more people would have shown up. But it's very frustrating seeing schools like BC in the ACC, yet UConn can't get in.
They let in Rutgers. Freakin Rutgers. That school had always been a joke until a couple years ago. Greg Schiano saved their sorry butts football-wise and their basketball program is improving.
I'm just hitting the panic button man. I'm worried my favorite school is gonna be left behind and our athletics will head for mediocrity. I don't care what it costs, I'd like to fire our head coach and hire someone better. 5-7 two years in a row after making the Fiesta Bowl has been a disaster at the worst time. Pay Auburn's Gene Cizik whatever it costs. Make him the highest paid coach in college football. Just get us in one of these conferences before we poison our athletic programs for decades
As you can see, I'm panicking. It's all we have in Connecticut....... The UConn Huskies.

yeah, I feel you. it's going to be tough for UConn. they had to be hoping that they would get included in with ND, and that is still the hope, but getting passed up for an academically poor school in rankings like Louisville hurts those odds (opens the door to other schools in that tier).

Can't believe McIntyre took that job. It's a terrible job, and he would have been in line for something better probably as early as next year.

undoubtedly. I'm just surprised he chose Western Kentucky for that reputational foothold.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college...2&eref=sihpOutside the box thinking for Alvarez going West to find his next HC. All Gary Anderson has done is take the 3rd team in Utah (after Utah and BYU) and transform them from laughingstock to defensive powerhouse despite not getting the premier athletes one would normally need to do that. Apparently, Colorado and Cal both called and he said no.

I liked the little bit I saw from the SDSU running back (Mauta?) Yesterday. Very shifty and hits the hole fast.

Michigan had the same problems on defense that the Browns had
Michigan had no pass rusher, and couldn't reliably blitz without having its secondary nuked. The difference in the game and story of the season.

There's a view which shows the RB could see that he was about to get destroyed. And it happens. And then he picks up the ball with one hand like a hawk man. I'm pretty sure this is what he looks like with his helmet off.

It also didn't help that their best corner was suspended (J.T. Floyd). Given how thin they were at CB, they were actually playing 3 safeties in nickel situations. They held the dam for almost the entire game but no SS is going to win 1 on 1 in the slot against a good WR. It was actually unlucky they knocked Shaw out. The backup QB look like the much more accurate thrower downfield.
Clowney is an insanely talented player but Taylor Lewan made himself a lot of money today.
He handled him for the entire game and Clowney's one big play came when he was down blocking on a run.
Thank God Michigan's schedule eases up a bit next season. I can't remember a year where they played a more difficult one. 4 top 10 teams and both BCS championship squads, all away from home. Yikes.
Unfortunate they missed a sack that could have ended the game but they have some very good young defenders returning. Should be a fun year in the B1G next season.

UNI needs to force turnovers to keep this from being an ass beating. Florida States athletes will overwhelm them if they don't.

Awful! They missed a defensive pass interference call. I'm quite sure you can't box out a receiver in football...

On a positive note that field looks great. I don't think I've ever seen a better looking natural grass field.

It's awful because NIU isn't being demolished by FSU? I don't see how a close game like this is awful at all.

Close does not equal good.
The Northern Illinois QB is currently 3/14 for 40 yards. E.J. Manuel is overthrowing and underthrowing guys left and right. There has been 8 punts in a quarter and a half.
Not a good game.

Then you add having to listen to Millen and this game almost qualifies as torture.
