Im just curious to hear from all the draft people how good do you think this kid will be in the NFL? I have not followed him at all, but last night he just seemed to be the type player we need on this team. Could he be the next Ray Lewis type of player? How high do you think he will go in the Draft?
Would you consider drafting him if hes on the board when we pick?
Kinda bored waiting for the Browns to get started.
If you need 3 years to be a winner you got here 2 years to early. Get it done Browns.

We should go after this kid hard in the first round. I think he is going to be better than Ray Lewis if used properly. Yes I just said it, and yes I believe it. Please get this kid a orange helmet asap.

I have heard a lot of good stuff about some edge rusher types who I would have to think about going after as well.
A guy like Lee from USC would also be really, really hard to pass on.
I don't think that there's any lock for us at this point.
About Te'o, I will say that the one major thing that concerns me is his lack of pass rush ability shown so far. If I invest in a LB extremely high in the draft, I want him to be a pass rushing demon, along with being an all around exceptional player.

Manti Te'o is a great player. He will go in the first round.
Currently we have the third or fourth pick. We will not be drafting a linebacker with the third or fourth pick (unless we switch to a 3-4 defense). There are more pressing needs and more talented players that will be available.

Oops.
Well ... he'd still be hard to pass on.
I still want a ferocious pass rusher. That one spot would improve this defense so much. It would eliminate the ability of opposing QBs to sit safely in the pocket and pick apart our secondary.

Not sure where we will pick but if we win some games here which there are some winnable games for us Im not sure where we will be picking. I was just blown away by the kids motor and overall pressence on the sidelines. Looked like a real leader with actual skills.
Thanks for all the replies I know alot of you watch alot of college games and have a real feel for players. I am by no means draft guru guy but I thnk this kid looks like the real deal.
Glad to hear others feel the same and also the replies that point out some holes in his game as well. I will be watching the title game for sure to get a better look.

The only argument from me would be that one of our best defensive players (D'Qwell Jackson) plays the same position as Te'o. So either Jackson or Te'o would be out of position.

Clowney would be the pick...if:he was draft eligible, he's a true sophomore too.
Honestly it'd probably help the Browns the most to get an absolute demon at RDE. It's too important a position.
But Te'o would be fantastic. Great guy and great smart athletic player to lead this team for the next 10 years.
Add to it that the Browns games would be on out here all the time and sign me up!
There's never been a player like Te'o to come from Hawaii...and that's saying something. He's beloved out here. It's amazing.

I like Manti.. BUT.. if the pick is mine I take Jarvis Jones. IF.. We are at the the 3 position and Jarvis is gone at the 2 spot.. then I take Dee Milliner CB Alabama, IF we are at 4 then I take Bjoern Werner DE FSU with the previous picks being done

I'm excited to see Jarvis Jones versus the vaunted Alabama O-line...If he's making plays against them, I seem him going #1 or #2

Seems like a good kid with a good motor, always around the ball, likely a 3 down guy in the NFL, good coverage skills, average speed and quickness (sometimes hard to tell because he's pretty instinctive)...but I wonder if he'd get the same notoriety if he played elsewhere.
He wasn't in the top 100 in solo tackles, top 50 in total tackles, top 100 for tackles for loss, or top 100 for sacks. As well, his numbers are down from last year and last year's numbers were down from the year before. Don't get me wrong, 100+ tackles, 7 int, and 10+ passes defended is good.
If we weren't in the top 5 or 10, or in dire need of a MLB (I'm assuming we stick with 4-3 next year), I might say yes, but where I expect we'll be drafting and with what I believe our needs are/will be, I have to say no thanks. I'm more in the Jarvis Jones camp right now, with Dee Millner as a backup (but it is still too early to project)
For the other questions, I think he'll be good but not great. And I think he'll probably go in the top 10-15, maybe earlier with a good combine. I'm thinking Arizona, Buffalo, or maybe San Diego at this point, but with 5 more games, and several months before the draft, it is too early to guess.

I wonder how the guy does shedding blocks, USC got into his legs and it looked like he had a hard time getting thru them, Just might have been this game,
Many good LB in College are good in open spaces or one on one but cant shed blocks in traffic and get to the ball to make plays,
We will see

He is a great college player who could be good in the nfl, could maybe be great. I don't think he is any kind of lock. I'm very interested to see how he does against a top tier SEC team that will have lots of time to learn every single item about him. It's amazing. This guy could go to a late 1st round, even 2nd round if ND gets crushed in this title game. That's amazing. So much rides on him and his defensive teammates in this game. If they don't carry that team, it's going to get ugly, and get ugly very early.
Very likable guy and a great story, but that doesn't equal NFL success.
Also, I've watched a lot of his games, and a lot of JJ out of UGA and I'd take Jones all day and twice on Sunday.

The guy that could take a huge leap based on his last two games is Aaron Murray. If he beats both Alabama and Notre Dame he jump ahead of whoever is the #1 QB currently.

What do you guys think of OSU LB's? I thought Shazier looked great, though I wonder if he couldn't be great FS at 6-3 230 with 4.4-to-4.5 speed. I do realize he's just going into his Jr year, but he'll play on Sunday, IMO. Zach Boren impressed the hell out of me this fall, just a great football player. Although his size isn't optimum (6-1, 244), I was impressed with his closing speed.

Barring catastrophic injury, Clowney is going #1 overall in 2014 draft. You can never have too many pass rushers, and he's looking to be one of the best prospects in the last 10 years.

Shazier is going to get a lot of love next year. If OSU ends up being in the title mix, I think he will be a first round guy in a ton of mocks. Guy is a tackling machine. I wanna see what kind of jump he makes from this offseason to next year.
Totally agree about Aaron Murray too.

Walter Football Mock Draft that came out Wednesday has Quote:
Cleveland Browns: Manti Te'o, LB, Notre Dame
Mel Kiper recently predicted that the Chiefs would take Manti Te'o No. 1 overall. While I disagree with that - they're almost forced to go with Geno Smith - I could see Te'o being selected in the top five. I never would have projected any non-pass-rushing linebacker to go this high in years' past, but things have changed. Consider:
1. With the new CBA, teams can focus on the top player available rather than positional value because rookies aren't making nearly as much anymore.
2. Many teams are using matchup-nightmare tight ends, so linebackers who can cover these tight ends are now much more prevalent.
3. Te'o is the best player available in a very weak class.
Te'o makes lots of sense for the Browns if Jarvis Jones is off the board. He could either play the middle, which would move D'Qwell Jackson to a more natural weakside position, or they could just station Te'o at strongside linebacker, where he would replace the soon-to-be-retired Scott Fujita.
Pick change; previously Jarvis Jones, DE/OLB (he went 2nd in the mock)

That's great...
Except we might beat Oakland and KC, if not others...
We are possibly at 5 now already...
2 more wins could push us back towards the end of the top 10...
I don't think JJ or Te'o is a possibility anymore...

If any year is a year to not tank, this is it IMO. Not thrilled about the premiums in the draft this year.
Last year was a year to tank.

Thaks for the post, Strange that we may be looking at possibley getting a great player in the lower part of 5-10 much like pittsburgh does every time they appear there.
His stock will rise and fall I think with both the title game and the combines. I see it going up but as I said I have not watched him enough but he has caught my attention.

I wanted an unbiased opinion on Te'o so I wrote an email to Mike Golic and he said he's the best LB ever.... better than Butkus.

he also mentioned this future HOF OG that ND has we might want to give up our next 4 1st rounders to make sure we get at #1 overall.

IDK again TBH I have not watched the kid all year thats why I wanted to get a feel of what the people who do and have feel on the kid. He from what very little Ive seen of him just seems to be a special player. Nothing more nothing less. Dont read to much into this, just me asking questions on a player. Any and all information is welcome, good or bad

Going into the year he was considered by most to be the best run stuffing linebacker in the draft...and little else. This year he's played a lot in coverage, in space, in the backpeddal and he's blown everyone away at how good he is there. He's a true 3 down middle linebacker. And that's pretty rare. I'd take him and move DQ to WILL (I feel like I've said that before? )
