Next year starts the cap floor too, right? So we will have to spend. Does anyone know the exact number we have to reach?
I don't want to splurge. I hope we can maybe get a guy or two, but I don't want to go Philadelphia Eagles.
Maybe we can get a nice player, maybe 2, and then have money to spend on Phil to keep him around a few more seasons. I'd be happy with that.

if Wikipedia is correct, the floor is 88.8% in 2013 and 90% every year beyond that. 2012 is $120.6m, if it stays the same for 2013 it means we have about $73m accounted for and need to spend roughly between $34m and $47m next season. I'm not sure if we have any players one year away from a contract we'd want to extend. If not, we're going to have to pay for some free agents...

Oniel Cousins Hall Davis Solomon Elimimian John Greco Montario Hardesty Shawn Lauvao Thaddeus Lewis Alex Mack Colt McCoy Adrian Moten Kent Richardson Brad Smelley Usama Young I assume we'll want to extend at least Alex Mack. I could see Greco, Hardesty, Cousins, Lauvao, Young and McCoy depending on the new coach/GM, but likely not all of them - and none of this list, outside of Mack is big money. This being said, we almost have no choice but to sign a couple medium to large free agent deals. Here are our 2013 free agents. Dawson, Robertson, Watson and maybe one or two others might be re-signed. I don't see a lot of money on these guys. Looking at the list though, we have a few holes to fill... Seems like Mack is the only guy in line to get an extension. We do have quite a few free agents, but none that will demand big money. We will have the money to spend, but will a big time player sign to play in Cleveland? And is there a player who is available who is worth big money? We'll have to wait and see what type of systems we will be running on offense and defense before any of this is discussed.

Depends on who the coach is. Also, Welker will be 32 years old when the season starts. Danny Amendola is also an unrestricted free agent and in my opinion is as good if not better than Welker. He is also only 27 years old. Again, it all depends on the head coach/GM.

That's right.
The Colts ran a ton of 2 TE formations this season. If Arians is hired as Head Coach, for example, we'll probably need to resign Watson, and find 2 more TE through the draft or in free agency. I can't imagine us running a lot of 2 TE with only 3 on the roster. I suspect that the FB would become extinct. (The Colts don't use a defined FB in their offense)
The 3rd WR would become less important, because he would rarely see the field. I suspect that Richardson would still find a use as a pass catcher, even though the Colts don't use the RB much in that regard in their offense.
So much of personnel depends on who we hire as head coach, and who their coordinators are.

I don't trust Amendola to stay healthy nor do I think he is as good as Welker.
Also, what better WR out there that can demonstrate to our young WRs how to work on their routes (while also showing them on the field).
Whatever offense we run, we will need a WR like Welker. Maybe Benjamin develops into that role, but I'd rather just get Welker (and hope Benjamin also develops).

1) QB Luck
2) TE Fleener
3) TE Allen

Yeah, and they had Fleener grab 26 passes for 281 yards and 2 TD .... and Allen grab 45 for 521 and 3 TD.
Their receivers were the main targets .... but they used their TEs effectively.
If we go after a veteran WR, look for us to pursue Donny Avery, He had a huge year for Arians last year.

Cliff Avril. Need pressure from the outside to go with Sheard.
If they miss on one of these two get the best CB available maybe Brent Grimes.

If we go for a veteran receiver, I want a guy who can play the slot effectively. Think of a latter day Joe J. That's Donny Avery. 60 catches for 781 yards and 3 TD. He'd be a marvelous fit here ... especially with Little and Gordon drawing attention on the outside. Avril might be a solid choice to pursue, as long as we stay in the 4-3. I believe that Michael Johnson of the Bengals is also a free agent, and his 11.5 sacks would look great across the line from Sheard as well. It would be great to be able to grab a pass rusher in free agency, and really lessen the needs we have heading into the draft. Johnson or Avril would be expensive .... but we have plenty of room on the credit card. TE ......... . Maybe Fasano? Maybe Bennett from the Giants? Brandon Myers from the Raiders? S looks like a draft position, as does P. These 4 positions are our most desperate IMHO. (at least until we know what kind of offense and defense we'll run ...... who the coach is ..... and what he wants to do at QB ......)

Donnie Avery would be a good fit absolutely.
The problem he was available last year and Heckert didn't even give him a thought.
The Colts signed him for a very affordable 1 year deal.
Now he's playing along side a franchise QB and a playoff team.
The Colts have about 46 million in cap space with the carryover
I think Mike Wallace should be on the Browns radar. Browns gain,Steelers loss.
Danario Alexander is a very interesting option. He's had injury issues and hasn't been able to find a long term team. But he is a matchup problem for CB's.
He's 6'5 and long arms. And he's still young at only 26 years old. Plenty of upside.
Victor Cruz is gonna command alot of money. But he's a playmaker and so dangerous after catch. He has qualities that no other Browns WR posseses.
Michael Johnson is gonna be on alot of teams radars. Only 25 years old and should only get better. 11.5 sacks and thats sharing snaps at RDE.
Like I said months.the Bengals weren't gonna miss Frostee Rucker.
Cause his replacement out played him.
But the Bengals have the most cap space of any team in the NFL at 55 million.
I don't see them letting a cornerstone of their d-line go.
The Browns could use a serious upgrade at TE. Jordan Cameron started dating a Victoria's Secret model and it softened him. He might score off the field but can't produce on the field as his numbers reflect that.
Jared Cook or Fred Davis could be viable options. Cook isn't happy in Tennessee.

As far as a pass rusher on the other side of Sheard, I don't think Sheard was overly impressive in his second, or was this his third, year. He was showing real upside, then during this year, well maybe he didn't get as many snaps because he seemed to get mentioned alot less.
As far as a veteran receiver, I'm in the mood for hoping they get a big receiver who can block well. You can see a difference from the ones who don't block well.
If we had another top receiver, who was big and could block well, then you might really have something.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Heckert should have addressed that in his 1st draft in 2010 getting hellion to rush off the right side. instead he went the bargin bin route and got Jayme Mitchell.
