I'm not sure that I've ever seen a discussion about it...

Do you play regularly?

That's cool! I'm in the market for a light-med light game for 3 that plays fairly fast and isn't too deep.

Check out the 'Days of Wonder" site. They make good games. Ticket to Ride is pretty fun.

Fantasy Flight Games is another to look at.
Twilight Creations game series ZOMBIES is a light, screw your opponent over type game.

I suppose it depends on what you like.

Thanks...I have TtR Nordic Countries and like it, but it won't work for this particular group. This one has to be a rather small and/or movable footprint. Thinking Roll Through the Ages may work....like that one, too.

If you want a simple, laugh your butt off game, search "eat poop you cat"!

You will laugh until you nearly wet yourself when you play it!

The thing is, folks need to write what they think they see. I've played with some who try to write ridiculous things on purpose and it kind of ruins things.

Ridiculousness takes care of itself!

I think I have an Avolon hill stock market board game somewhere but could be wrong its much older then the new browns so who knows where the heck it is at this point in my life.

was a big APBA sports board game fan but alas no one I know plays anymore and I have gotten away from that as well. It was fun in the day though. For those old enough it was a strat O matic type sports game.

If you're just hanging out, drinking, catching up, killing time, etc. with a group of friends, I recommend either Apples to Apples, Game of Things, or Taboo.

On a side note- I can't stand Facebook (used to log in bi-monthly IF that)- but have developed a rather unhealthy addiction to Scrabble on there.

I play regularly:

Ticket to Ride: Europe

Pandemic

This is a co-op game and lasts about 30-45 minutes. Very fun.

And of course the standard Settlers of Catan as well as the Cities & Knights expansion.

Games I will be getting soon (once I actually have time to play them)

7 Wonders

Escape: The Curse of the Temple
Modeled after Indiana Jones, co-op game, lasts only 10 minutes.

Small World

Tzolk'in
This is the game I am most likely getting next because I have played it and it is tons of fun.

Keltis

A game I played this weekend and found pretty fun.

Edit to add: Power Grid. Haven't played it but heard good things.

played APBA the way I agree. Used to play seasons all the time and it would take a season in real time to do one. We used to have drafts and everything. Ahh the good old days. Cursing/Loving the dice was a way of life back then.

I have lost all my old versions of ABPA but replaced most of them in the 2000's but I have not played them. i still laugh when I see people selling cards on ebay looking for big money.

BABE RUTH MINT CONDITION APBA CARD!!!!

Great list! I got At the Gates of Loyang and Zooloretto for Christmas. We've only played Zooloretto so far. I think, though it appears to be a kids game, that this one will be a great strategy game.

We don't play as much as we want to but here is a few:

Monopoly Millionaire takes us (3) about 45 to 65 minutes to play, not nearly as long as a regular monopoly game.

UNO Attack, not a board game but it is one of our faves, my 7 yo daughter loves it especially when those cards go flying at mom.

Wow. My friends and I played APBA football and baseball for years. I loved those games.

There was a computer APBA baseball game that was pretty good for its time. I would love to find a copy of that.

Nice!

I remember being tossed into a ACW miniatures battle once (my brother played). I was put in charge of some green troops. Hunkered down behind some earthworks, we held out (some good dice rolls by us and some poor ones by the attacker) until my brother's artillery sent my attacker's retreat after being routed.

Also played Civilization once (I like it and love the computer version), and we used to play WW2 ETO and PTO games and Starfleet Battles. I don't think you can get the SFB stuff anymore though. That was a fun game if you're a Trekkie.

I used to like Battleship as a kid. Does that count?

How about Monopoly?

Our family loves to gather around the table and play the card game War or the board games Let's Kill and Whistling Death... it keeps us from watching all of that violence on television.

Am I lost? Are these really BOARD games everybody's listing?

I'm all about Scattegories, Apples to Apples, Taboo, Sequence, Yahtzee, Scene It, & of course Trivial Pursuit.

I LOOOVE Balderdash but my wife & friends hate it & refuse to play.

Operation was great. My aunt had that game, and when we were kids and went to visit we'd always play it.

Most of the games you listed don't use a game board , they're mostly card games. There's a lot more to board games than just the Monopoly type games, and the games are much more fun and are designed to be played by adults.

My favorite board game growing up was Risk. My least favorite was that magnetic football game that vibrated. I dont think I ever got it to work, not even once.

Yeah, a lot of these aren't games you'll find at Wally. You need a gaming store.

I followed it from the 3.5 disk and wizard when people used to create their own wizardized teams to the CD version. Played in 3 leagues 2 comp and 1 board up to about 2006. Even did a mail league board game style. You would send in your instuctions and then play a series send the paper results on the score sheets.
One of my main emails is my first name with apba at the end.
Everyone thinks its the american power boat association lol.

I still get mailers from them once in a while but havent recieved anything lately.
I had football baseball basketball golf and horse racing. I only have the baseball football and horse racing ones left.
Ive tried to repurchase the golf but was always to much for my tastes.

Those were the days though.
