I think we've got enough young, talented wideouts for now, and that using a premium pick on another isn't the best way to improve the team. Benjamin even came on towards the end of the year, and could play a bigger role in a downfield passing attack. Pick 68 could possibly be a starter at CB, FS, OLB, ILB (if we switch to a 3-4) or even OG for us.

Sure, but to me he was clearly BPA there and at the top of the 3rd no prospect is a sure starter. Patton was the best bet I saw there and it's not like we're set at WR.

We have Gordon, Little and Benji...Little has been consistently inconsistent, Gordon? we will see how he responds to the new regime and Benji I'm not a fan of to depend on at WR. He's a no4/RET who has one route and that's ok, but he isn't a slot guy (lacks toughness and route polish and probably hands too). He doesn't fight for balls and needs to be perfectly open to make a catch, he's far from proven as a WR. Right now he's a track guy out-running DBs. You need 3 good, steady WRs in today's NFL and Patton would give us depth on the outside. Unlike Gordon and Little, he'dcome in very polished, possibly even ahead of the trio after half a season. He's the go to guy we lack outside as I think Gordon is more of a very good no2 deep threat, who needs some time to be a no1. Patton I envision as Mr.Reliable...Gordon-Patton outside, Little in the slot, Benji in on 4 WR sets. That's good...

Who'd be your BPA at 68 off of that list?

If we got OLB Moore at 6, and OG Warford (#66) was off the board there, I'd be looking really hard at CB/FS Amerson (#70) since we have absolutely no size at corner and nobody who QBs are worried will pick off the ball. I have to look at Simon at corner, but there might be no alternatives available with his size and ball skills. Howard is another good option at outside CB late in the draft, but nowhere near the potential of Amerson IMO. I think Chase Thomas (#69) and Nico Johnson (#115) could look really good at ILB in a 3-4 (if we're going that way.)

Personally, I'm very happy with Greg Little on the outside. I'd be interested in using a 4th or later on Ryan Swope or Stedman Bailey as a slot guy.

Too bad were taking Tyler Bray with our 3rd round pick...

If not our 1st!!!

i don't know if he'll accept a 3rd round pick salary. i hear he's used to getting paid pretty well.

FWIW Walter Football has the Browns taking Landry Jones with our third pick. Again, FWIW.

Oh, and Bjoern Werner with our 1st pick.

I don't know that I'd be upset with either of those selections.

Other posters that advocate for drafting a player are called 'pimps' for their players. If that's the case, I'm probably the pimp for Bjoern Werner on these message boards.

Ugh, Landry Jones is a total mess and not very good.

I'd rather go after Bray or Manuel than Jones.

With the exception of Florida, Werner put his numbers up against garbage teams. Then again it's not like Florida had a stud offense either.

Either Millner or the best Pass Rusher available at 6.

Even Lombardi can't screw that up...

...right?

Mingo won't be

The hype of him needs to stop. People are only impressed by him because he's an athlete.

BTW, this is how I'm thinking it might go...

KC: DT Lotulelei
JAX: DE Moore
OAK: DE Werner
PHI: OT Joeckel
DET: CB Milliner
CLE: OLB Jones
AZ: QB Smith
BUF: WR Allen

i like any scenario where we end up with Jarvis Jones, but I'm not banking on that happening. anytime there is one player that I really want, he seems to go the pick or two before us (other than JoeT!)

Can KC really pass up on a QB?

He'll they could auction off the #1 for Jones and trade back and still get which QB they want.

I want nothing to do with any of those guys. I would rather wait a round or 2 and take Zac Dysert or Brad Sorenson

Start praying that Geno Smith gets picked by KC, JAX, OAK or Philly because there's a big, fat EGO chance that he'll be a Brown at pick 6 if not.

Why?

Lombardi LOVED Pat White when he was picked by the Dolphins in round 2. Geno Smith is much better version of White, so...

I'm hoping our first two picks address our LB weakness.

I'm expecting the first pick to be the best pass rusher.. ie Jarvis Jones or Damontre Moore. I'm hoping for Jones b/c I think he is faster.

In the 3rd I'm hoping to add another ILB. Know way Te'o falls to the 3rd regardless of the catfish/gay story/rumors that have been surfacing. That leaves Alec Ogletree (UGA), Kevin Minter (LSU), and Kevin Reddick (NC) as my go to guys. If neither one are there, draft another position b/c the other ILBs all suck.

CBS sports has Jones as about a 10th of a second faster. The only time I saw Jones play was against Alabama and they ran over the georgia D. I would be happy with Ogletree or Minter( don't know anything at all about Reddick) but I think we have to go CB in the 3rd if we don't address that spot in FA or the 1st round.

Off the top of my head I wanted:

Luck (Since he was a freshman at Stanford)
Berry (Since he was a sophomore at Tennesee)
Raji before the trade down, Nicks after

Wow! That's almost 2 1/2 rounds worth of a draft just in underclassmen. I do have to wonder who advises some of these kids though, because I bet some of them go undrafted. They might have stayed in school a year and maybe increased their value. Obviously, not all of them can be 1st .... or 2nd ....... or maybe even 7th round picks.

Gotta love the name Jose Jose.

2013 NFL Draft: League officially accepts record 73 underclassmen - CBSSports
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/blog/...3-underclassmen

The NFL officially recognized a record 73 underclassmen as having been granted special eligibility into the 2013 draft, releasing the list on Saturday morning.

The list includes all of the big names NFLDraftScout.com has noted will ultimately dominate the draft like Texas A&M offensive tackle Luke Joeckel, the top-rated prospect. It also includes a few surprises, including Purdue linebacker Dwayne Beckford, Ohio State wide receiver Duron Carter and Central Florida's behemoth defensive tackle, Jose Jose.

Players willing to give up their collegiate eligibility to enter the draft had to contact the league with their wishes by last Tuesday. Players are given a few days to reconsider (assuming they haven't signed with an agent), which is why the list wasn't released by the league until Saturday.

For information on virtually all of the players listed below as part of the league's official release, simply check out NFLDraftScout.com's Underclassmen Tracker or NFLDraftScout.com's overall player and position rankings.

Here is the official list of the 73 underclassmen given special eligibility for the 2013 NFL Draft.

There is no real pecking order to this years draft. I wouldnt call it a weak draft but right now I have Joeckel as my #1 player and then it is pretty muddled for the next 20-25 spots.

This Senior Bowl week is going to have monster impact this year with things so wide open and a lot of talent at DE and rush backer positions. The strength of the 2-4 rounds is secondary talent. I would not be shocked to see 40 defensive backs going in the first 4 rounds but very few in the first.

The NFL though lowering draft pick salaries would keep kids in school.

When all it did was make them come out earlier. Because now the second contract is the big payday. And the quicker you get to the NFL the quicker you get your second contract.

This year my top two guys are Demontre Moore and Dee Millner if we stay at 6.

But I would love to trade down and grab Jonathon Banks or Xavier Rhodes at CB followed by Chace Thomas, Arthur Brown, Ezekiel Ansah, Corey Lemonier, Khaseem Greene, Sean Porter, or Brandon Jenkins as and OLB.

If we could sneak in Amerson as a FS with the pick we acquired in the trade down we could really firm up our defense. If we miss out on him we could beef up the oline by grabbing one of the top OG to solidify our oline.

Damontre Moore was built for Horton's defense. He can line up anywhere on the field and get after the QB. He can play standing up or with his hand in the ground.

With that said, I see no reason for him to be around when we pick.

What position will Collin Klein try to play in the NFL? He definitely isn't a QB. He makes Tim Tebow look like Tom Brady.
