I agree with you Nick. I would not be against upgrading the Qb position and would love to obtain our franchise guy. Unfortunately, I don't see anybody out there to fill that roll - including Geno Smith and Matt Barkley.

I think in this day and age of the NFL,success is expected to be sooner than later at the QB position. Especially when you look at the body of work of rookie QBs over the past 2 years. the thing with Weeden is that,he didn't finish the season on the upswing,it ended with him looking like a rookie. But the other rookie QBs finished the seasons playing like veterans. Weedens age doesn't help. If he was 23-24 I can see giving him a full 2-3 years. But the Haslams/Banner didn't draft Weeden. if you redid the 2012 NFL Draft..Weeden would not have been a 1st RD pick.

Only saw a little of Nassib but what I did see did not impress me.
For a 3rd/4th round guy, I like what I have seen from Zac Dysert Miami OH.
Some people are suggesting Glennon on round 3. But I would bet he goes in round 1.
Landry and Manuel look like fools gold to me. They are big and athletic with a strong arms but just cannot get it done. Whether it is accuracy or panic I am not sure but I want nothing to do with them (And Manuel was at the top of my list entering the season).
I would go with Weeden and Lewis this year (+/- a cheap veteran). If Weeden shows his worth we continue on with him. If not we mortgage our future for Teddy Bridgewater who would easily be the #1 overall pick in this draft if he was in it.
Pretty much agree with all of this except I have no comment on dysert. Earlier this year I was watching nc state for amerson and saw Glennon who made me think "hey, this guy would make a good backup for weeden." Now he's going in the first round. Did people forget he threw more picks than anyone in FBS this year?

Dysert needs to put on a little bulk and add some overall body strength but from what I have seen (only 2 games) he is mobile, accurate and has a good arm, and his production is there. Albeit against mostly MAC teams, but he has performed fairly well against top teams when he has played them. I don't envision him coming in and being a day 1 starter by any means but I think he could really develop into a good NFL Qb with a couple years of sitting on the bench as an NFL backup.

AM I sold on Weeden? No, not by any means. But do I think he has a chance to be a pretty good NFL QB? Yes I do. Odds are probably 50-50 in my mind when we drafted him. Now a little lower after a year of development under Shurmur. I think Chud and Norv can do some good things with Weeden if Shurmur didn't screw up his head too much this past season.

I get the Phil Dawson love, I don't get the "We have to sign a kicker to a giant contract" love.

thats only because we havent needed him to kick a playoff game winner. Look how fast people are ready to cut the punter here and you have your answer.
If you need 3 years to be a winner you got here 2 years to early. Get it done Browns.

I think the entire premise of this thread is rather absurd.
This FO made it quite plain that while the HC will have some input as to what he desires in his players, it will be the FO who does the grocery shopping to fill those roles.
So in reality Chud doesn't have a FA move to begin with.
Chud won't be writing or offering contracts, negotiating with the players or making the final decisions on any of this.
Having a "Chud's wish list" thread would be fairly accurate, but he isn't making any FA moves. All of the negotiating and selections in that department is in Banners hands.
So who does Banner think will fit and who will he be willing to pony up the money for would be a lot more accurate.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Furthermore, how can we have a free agent in when we don't know what defensive and offensive systems we'll run? We think we have Turner coming here, but we thought Chip Kelly was the HC.
We don't know who our DC will be, and what system he'll run.
We don't know which of our own free agent's we'll keep, so it's hard to peg which available guys we'll want.
And Pit...I don't like your haircut.
***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy. Manziel, see Josh Gordon. Dumbass.***

Hard to know who they'll even be considering on D since we have no idea if they'll be running the 3-4 or the 4-3. If they wish to have balance on O, a mauling G may be in order. We have no idea if they feel a new OC can improve Weeden or if "He is what he is". And I still think your mom dresses you funny.
