I think his first was against the Bobcats.

I just remember the one over J Rich against The Warriors.
The 09 Playoff game 2 3 pointer against Orlando is probably my favorite basketball moment ever.
Marv Alberts "Lebron James...Yes!" Is also one of my favorite calls. Which was one of the worst parts of the Decision, as everything James did as a Cav did is basically buried forever.

Freakin buzz kill moment from Burke. Not a fan of ESPN breaking that news to Pierce. You know they did that just to catch his reaction for the interview. Just seems in poor taste though.

ok, I don't really care about the Celtics, so while it's always sad to see a good player go down with an injury, my first thoughts were how this might affect our Cavs.
the Celtics championship window with this corps is now closed. well, it likely was anyway, but with Rondo out this season and half of next season (and likely not 100% the 2nd half) there is no conceivable way that the Celtics can even fool themselves into thinking this corps is worth hanging onto.
so, Pierce and Garnett just hit the market. Jason Terry as well. (everyone else was already on the market).
how does that affect the Cavs? well, Phoenix, Houston and Cleveland are the teams with the cap space to help be 3rd party facilitators in any major deal (and get back some nice assets in the exchange). The Cavs also happen to hold the golden tickets of future 1st round draft picks.
So, there is a good chance that the Celtics call the Cavs to help them make any trade and that if Chris Grant is shrewd (he has been thus far), the Cavs can help their own rebuild.
This is the type of reason you build assets. Let's hope we can take advantage.

If I'm the Nets, I offer Lopez and Humphries for KG and Pierce then throw in some guys to make contracts work.
I like Lopez, but I don't know if the Nets can win a title with their roster

I thought that the Cavaliers used up much of their cap room on the Leuer for 3 guys and a 1st round pick deal?
IIRC, they have something like $4 million in cap room ..... however, they could trade off a guy like Luke Walton with a deal expiring this season for a guy with a bad contract signed through next year if such a team wanted to save on the luxury tax. Other than that, the cavaliers are in great shape for 2014, when they can offer a premium guy a max type deal ..... on a team loaded with young talent.

Boston would really have to be sold on a Brook+Rondo future. Not so sure they would be. And, as much as I dislike Hump, I think they'd be trying to send back G-Force to keep the bulk underneath (and not be doubled-up on SFs).

The Celtics really like Avery Bradley. Rondo, Lopez and Bradley isn't bad.
The Nets could just play small ball with G-Force. Humphries is incredibly overpaid. Wallace at least tries to find ways to contribute.

It amazes me how badly people underrated Kyrie heading in to the draft. The guy just does everything that a point guard should do. The small things that guys don't really work on, Kyrie has mastered. If he was as athletic as D-Rose there would be no contest as to who is better. He doesn't have to think, he's just put so much effort into his craft that it comes natural to him. Granted, he was gifted with his quickness and he plays stronger than he looks. Once he works on his D, he will be pound for pound the most complete PG in the NBA.
I love this kid.

As I understand the Cavaliers philosophy, they aren't going to take back any deals that run beyond 2014. That eliminates any of the "big 3" on the Celtics, except for Pierce. Is he worth bringing in for a season? The Cavaliers would have to give up the remainder of their cap space for this year, and eliminate any potential for deals next year to make any kind of deal like that.
Plus ..... and here's an interesting possibility .......
What if the Timberwolves continue on the skids next season, and decide to move Kevin Love before he abandons ship. What if the Cavaliers have improved by next season .... entirely possible ..... and become an attractive landing spot for a guy like Love. Maybe the Cavaliers trade for Love, giving the Timberwolves a couple of draft picks in return. Who knows .....? Stranger things have happened. Maybe the Cavaliers get a jump on keeping him beyond 2014?
If they do that, then they could either slide Thompson to C, or make a trade there for another piece ........
It could get really interesting around here next season.

people were scared about the foot injury and that he only played 11 games in college. and, despite that, he was still a near-consensus #1 overall pick.
the injury concerns look real (he's been hurt each year), but I agree that he's blown the roof off his ceiling. hopefully, he just continues to get better.

The injury concerns were legitimate, what I couldn't understand is these people saying we should have taken Derrick Williams, because there were a few other point guards ranked in the top 15.
That may work in the NFL, but not in the NBA. If you have a chance to get a great talent, you don't pass it up to somehow fill an extra spot.
Actually that really doesn't work in the NFL either. Do you pass up Matt Ryan because you need a left guard, and there are a few other QB's available later on?

honestly, I thought at the time they were mostly just trying to push a story because I was dead-certain we were taking Irving (especially after the lottery-ball night). there was no drama in that weak draft, so they were trying to make something out of it.

While Kyrie was tearing it up for Minnesota. I would assume he'd have been taken immediately. Rubio was on his way over from Spain but I think they would have still jumped all over that pick.
I would have fired Chris Grant on the spot, or if it was me (Dan Gilbert) forcing him to do that, I'd never suggest anything for the draft ever again.
Even Tristan Thompson seems to be coming around.
I know some people don't want to hear it, but the way this team is growing, Lebron would fit perfectly into that starting 3 spot. I'm not getting my hopes up, but if you're Lebron, seeing this young team grow, you have to at least be thinking that it would be quite the storm that he so loves. All the headlines it would grab, the marketing opportunities, and a pretty good team that can compete in an Eastern conference that is owned by only the team he plays on right now.

I love this kid.
Said it last year after his first few games, his first step is ridiculous. It's rare to see a player that young able to shred an NBA defender apart from either hand.
I just hope that the shot he hit doesn't get to his head. Not saying he's going to turn into a mega d-bag, but he should always attack the rim late in games. The whole league knows he has the range in his back pocket, but he can burn anyone getting to the rim.

He also said that coach told him to go win the game, I don't know if that's true or if he's trying to get his coach some credit since the media and some fans have been on him about getting a pass.
The defender was backed off, and it's not like we have a bunch of sharpshooters on either wing, so I can see the thinking. If anything maybe this will get defenders to stop cheating and playing 5 feet off of him.
I just hope he doesn't go away from what he does best, which is getting through the paint.

I don't think we do anything, they did their one move to get a future pick, I don't think they want to do anything to hurt their future cap space, they aren't going to get Dwight Howard, and I don't know if they want to be the third wheel on a trade if the most they get is a late first or a second round pick.
If they do nothing else, I'm ok with that, I would like to see some action over the next 2 summers, with making this team legitimate. I think after this year we'll have enough lottery picks, and it's time to make that next step toward being relevant again.
Especially if you want to go after Lebron or some other FA. You need to get better. You need one more really good player, and better bench support pieces.
