Noel won't fall out of top ten

I'm a lot better at picking NBA games than College(duh). Missed my parlay by two games, because the Knicks crapped the bed against Toronto and the Bulls lost by two to Boston...

So close...

Now I gatta wait for the All Star Weekend to end...

ESPN ticker last night said.. Noel out for the season with a torn ACL, draft projection drops from #1 to #3...

I think it's ridiculous that he was ever at #1 to begin with... if he's at Purdue or Arizona State playing the way he's played he's a mid first round pick at best. But he was the top recruit to Kentucky...

He's long and athletic and he blocks a lot of shots but he is an offensive liability... Kid will take 3 years in the NBA to figure out some offense and will eventually become a defensive specialist and a role player.. that's my prediction and that's not good for a top 5 pick... Remember when Joe Smith was the #1 pick in the draft as a freshman? Yea, kind of like that.

Noel could really benefit from another year at Kentucky focusing on developing some offensive skills against college players before taking it to the NBA...

yes, he projects to being an Ibaka or Andy or Noah. that is an extremely important and useful player, but not a #1 overall pick.

Joe Smith was a pretty good player and he had longevity.

Now if you'd have said the Candy Man then you'd have had me.

I don't disagree, but the guy played for about 16 years with about 18 different teams and averaged 10 and 8... that's a useful guy but not what you want to spend the #1 overall pick on... the #1 overall pick is supposed to change the fortune of your franchise not be on a different team 2 1/2 years after you drafted him...

But nobody knows if a player will be a HOFamer, on and off all-star, a serviceable veteren or a complete bust.

And if Ibaka/Noah is the best talent in the draft, assuming you know that's the case, you take him #1 overall. Sometimes there isn't a future HOFamer there to take #1 overall.

(lots of "if's" and "but's" I know. I've never understood the "you don't take a LBer with a top 3 pick" or "he's got talent, but not #1 overall talent". If he's the BPA, take him.)

Ok, let me put it a different way... let's say good solid role player is all you see coming out of this draft.. I still see a handful of guys that have a greater chance of being that than he does.. and some of them have better upside.

I think him being a possible #1 pick (before the injury) had more to do with the rest of the draft talent than his own.

Yeah I guess i just don't see there being that big of a gap between the three (Shabazz, Noel, McLemore would be my top three in no particular order, prior to injury).

It's scary how much better LBJ is than Durant.

It's scary how much better LeBron is that everyone. It's not even close. If he was this good when he was with Cleveland they would have won multiple titles. And now he had Wade and Bosh with him.

Wade and Bosh are playing at a very high level too right now.

Pacers will give them trouble because they are playing historically great defense. Unfortunately they play horrendous offense.

Pretty much the only thing that's going to stop Miami at this point is a serious injury to Lebron, Wade or Bosh.

I think LeBron and a bunch of league average dudes would win the title this year. He's that good.

Honestly, I'd try to take Bosh out. It's humanly impossible to stop Bosh and Lebron in the post. At least you can guard Wade.

Kyrie could completly destroy everyone in the rising stars game if he wanted to.

The Cavaliers youngsters did themselves proud ......

Kyrie put in 32, with 6 boards and 6 assists. Waiters had 23 on an incredible 11-12 shooting, and added 3 assists. Tristan Thompson got 20 on 9-10 shooting ....... and added 10 boards. Even Zeller got 4 points and 4 boards. (plus an assist)

So our 4 guys got 79 points, 17 rebounds, and 11 assists. Not too bad for an All Star type game.

Faried was just unreal. Man, 40 points and 10 boards is one heck of a day's work.

What I saw was a real defensive struggle. Unfortunately, I had to go pick up my Mom right around halftime. I got to listen to some of the 2nd half, but it's just not the same. lol

HOUSTON: The Cavaliers are expected to submit a proposal to bring the NBA All-Star Game back to Cleveland during either the 2016 or 2017 season, Cavs owner Dan Gilbert told the Beacon Journal.

NBA Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver visited Cleveland last week to explore the feasibility of bringing the All-Star Game back to the city and encouraged the Cavs to bid on a future game.

The All-Star Game was last in Cleveland in 1997, when the league assembled the 50 greatest players of all time.

“We had a great experience when we were there in ’97,” Silver said. “We would love to return to Cleveland.”

And Gilbert would love to have them.

“The league is very receptive and open to it,” Gilbert said. “As soon as this [All-Star weekend] is over, we’ll start talking more seriously about it.

“The city would be unreal. It would be a great weekend.”

Silver met with Gilbert and his staff last Friday. One of the questions that must be answered is whether the city has enough available hotel rooms to accommodate the event, which has grown considerably in the last 16 years since Cleveland hosted. Gilbert didn’t have the numbers in front of him and doesn’t know yet if the city has the proper accommodations. But since the game wouldn’t come for another three or four years, Gilbert is confident the city would be ready.

Next year’s game is slated for New Orleans and Silver confirmed Saturday both the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets have submitted proposals already for 2015. Silver said it was likely the game is headed to one of the two New York venues in two years.

Gilbert would like to have the second phase of his casino open before an All-Star Game. There is no timeline for the second phase to open, but Gilbert said there is a meeting next month to address the progress.

With the new medical mart and convention center coming, Gilbert thinks Cleveland would be a great host city.

“I’d say this is a major initiative,” Gilbert said.

Commissioner David Stern, who is retiring next February, called that moment his second-favorite All-Star memory behind only awarding Magic Johnson the Most Valuable Player award following the 1992 game, after Johnson retired because of the HIV.

“As the executive producer of that moment, that is a close second [to Johnson’s MVP game],” Stern said of the ’97 game in Cleveland. “To get those 49 guys, and we knew it was the last time we were ever going to get them together like that, and to put them in a jacket of the team that they represented, that was a big thrill, too.”

That might be something i'd splurge on to see up close...

They are good friends though .... so I don't know if I'd read that much into it .... yet. lol
