Watching the NBA All Star Game ...... and could the player introductions/pre game crap possibly drag on any longer?
I mean, it seemed like almost 15-20 minutes just to introduce the players.
I don't really know who "John Legend" is ..... but he did a nice job on the National Anthem. He didn't try to reinvent the song.

You don't know who John Legend is? He's great. One of the best voices in music right now.
This pregame crap sucks, but the game itself is still the best all star game out there.
All the talking heads on radio and tv try and tell you that it's baseball because "it's the closest to a real game" but the all star game has been an atrocity for years.
None of these games hold a flame to an actual competitive playoff game, or even regular season game, but I would take the NBA all star game above the MLB's.

I think that the NBA game is more adaptable to a single star player making plays. It is also the only one of the 3 main sports where a player can make a major impact on both offense and defense. Also, basketball is the 2nd easiest game to adapt to All Star type play, behind Baseball.

Of course, watching the pretend defense near the end of the quarter....... makes the Pro Bowl looks ferocious by comparison.

Ok, the older I get the farther away I get from the NBA and that kind of sucks because I'm not really up to speed on the younger guys. The closest I've seen to Irving playing is in the Uncle Drew commercials.
But I'm sitting here watching the All-Star Game and wow ...Kyrie Irving is incredibly skilled. He is a thrill to watch to see what he's going to do with ball.
The best thing that can happen to the Cavs this year is the Heat winning another title. I think that gets James closer to coming home. That and hopefully he's bonding with Irving and thinking to himself they'd be a dynamic duo.

I'm really starting to come around to the idea that LeBron might opt out and return to Cleveland. If it happens, cool, he's playing at another level these past two seasons. If it doesn't, I just hope we're good enough that Kyrie doesn't think about jumping ship.
In other news, Chris Bosh is showing he's clearly deserving of the All-Star start, what with the three airballs (to two field goals) and having two different opposing PGs pass the ball between his legs to themselves.

I'm 100% sure he's opting out after next season. Probably about 80% he's leaving Miami and I probably have him going back to Cleveland at 50/50.
The cavs have some work to do but have the most important piece locked down.

Although James is probably the best athlete to ever play the game he'll probably never be the best because of his heart and brain.

Had the intentions of watching the All-Star game. But, after about 1/3 of the player introductions for the East, I decided that it just wasn't worth it and flipped away. Can't think that I'm the only one that did that. It was all just too much.

I turned away at that point too ..... just because it was too damn long, drawn out, and boring. I kept switching back and forth throughout the game.

This game was announced before the all-star game so that had nothing to do with it... Somebody also posted an article about Haslam and how he needs to tread lightly on this Flying J CEO stuff because right now the city loves him.. then it referenced Gilbert and said he has done nothing to field a winner since LeBron left.. is that writer nuts? Four guys in the future stars league? I guess Gilbert should have gone out and paid an aging veteran a ton of money or something..

Yeah, I know there are a small handful of Cleveland media who think Dan Gilbert is somehow getting this free pass since the Cavs have not played a playoff game since 2010.
I say, he deserves that pass. I'm well over Lebron and the decision, but the Cavs as an organization are not. Even if DG has moved on, the overall health of the team is still recovering.
They did everything they could to build around Lebron, despite the fact that they are not a prime landing spot for free agents. On top of that the league is designed for star players to be enticed to stay home. Yes, it's not working out that way, but I think the league is at least trying. MLB certainly doesn't. The NFL doesn't count because of many reasons.
Lebron leaves, the Cavs are left holding the bag. I'm not holding this year against Dan Gilbert. I think next year you can start to ask questions, but I believe they have done things right by letting their young guys learn on the job, and not overpaying for either mediocre talent, or good talent that's past their prime. They stuck to their guns. They do have some cap room in the very near future, but I still think they are not going to land a top 3 FA. Top 5 may even be pushing it. I haven't really looked at the FA list, but I'm just going by most years.
That's why I do want Lebron back. I think his return is our best shot at a ring. If you want to do it without him to somehow prove you don't need him? That's fine with me, but I would like to see the city of Cleveland have a parade before I die. So if taking Lebron back and having the media still spin it in a bad way (Cleveland begging LBJ to come back, Lebron saving the city by gracing them back with his presence) I don't care, so be it. I'll be drunk for a week straight anyway.

It's because the media is short sighted and stupid. They care about the here and now. People love talking about the incredible front office of the Celtics and forget how much of a joke they were before the big 3.

And endorsement deals and shoe deals come with winning championships as well.. No matter what they do, it will be hard to entice a star to stay in Indiana or Toronto or Cleveland when they can go to the big market, assemble a dream team, play for championships, etc... The salary difference just isn't enough.

Yeah, but they have countered that with the restructuring of the CBA. Hence the reason OKC dealt Harden, and also the reason that most people think Lebron is opting out next year.
If this becomes a league where a big 3 is more like a big 2 with a third guy who's pretty good? Cleveland becomes very attractive. Especially to a guy like Lebron, who has taken a liking to Kyrie Irving, owns a giant home 30 minutes away, and pretty much controls the entire outlook of the NBA. Wherever he goes, that team will be in the mix for a championship.
Kyrie Irving is the youngest budding superstar in the league. The guy can't even buy a beer yet.

The media can make us look like we got on our hands and knees and kissed LBJ's feet as he got back into town, if we're parading downtown, I don't care.
Every NBA city would be jelous to have a combo like Lebron/KI.
Winning > most everything else.
Man it would be fun to be back in the spotlight. On TNT and bspn every week. Sunday afternoon monster matchups (I think I miss that the most from the LBJ era)
I miss screaming at the tv during playoff games. I only do that for about 3 or 4 weeks during the Browns season, by the 5th game or so, I'm already numb to them letting me down.

I am just so glad that we drafted Irving. He is becoming a true superstar ..... and he's only been in the league for a year and a half ....... after almost no college. Just incredible. The 4th quarter belongs to him. Amazing to see a young guy develop that killer instinct that fast. 20 points in just over 7 minutes in the 4th. Man! The rest of the team played nicely tonight as well. Sure it was New Orleans ..... but these are games we'd been losing earlier in the season.

kyrie took over in the 4th.
we had to survive due to defensive lapses. i mean, why would we give wide open 3's on 4 consecutive possessions? and then, Ellington bails us out with a heads up grab of a loose ball.
none of it mattered in the end as Kyrie got buckets and we hit our FTs down the stretch.
