I didn't gather that same impression from watching Taylor. I thought he was more apt to shooting gaps and being a playmaker rather than purely absorbing blockers. I think Rubin is the better fit for NT in the 3-4 than Taylor.

In some ways I agree that Rubin might be better on the nose.

For the sacrilegious part of my post, I'm going to note that over the last two seasons Taylor has been far softer than his reputation. He lacks any pass-rush moves and hasn't shown to be very stout against the run. While Rubin also lacks rush moves, his game-tape has shown he's been better against the run. That's why I'd felt that in spite of the perception, Taylor would be better suited at DE in the 3-4. Time will tell which guy they elect to put on the nose, but since neither guy knows how to get to the QB with any consistency, I believe they are both better suited to the switch.

Actually Taylor and Ruben aren't my real question marks here. Rubin has played NT in the 3-4. Not sure if either Taylor or Rubin can play DE in the 3-4 though.

I have no idea if Sheard can adapt or if Winn can be productive in the 3-4 however. Sheard is talented, but moving from DE to LB'er isn't as basic and simple as many have made it sound.

So I really have no qualms with Taylor or Rubin in regards to the NT position. I'm also rather troubled by D'Quell moving to the 3-4. the last time he did, his production went way down.

I guess time will tell how it goes. And yes, I think they will spend, but there are also two sides to the ball. I feel we pretty much agree they will bringing in a QB to the O at the very least. And if they're smart, we'll have a new FB.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

It's funny really...Sheard was already "uncomfy" when he had to switch from SDE to RDE in the SAME scheme and now people act as if he's a shoe in as a 3-4 OLB....ya, makes total sense

It's not simple, no. The key to determining if it can work revolves around the athletic ability of the player.

Someone like Freeney isn't built to play OLB in a 3-4, while a guy like Sheard stands a better chance because he has the build and athletic ability to work in space. That's no guarantee he can do it, but it would indicate a good chance. That's why he had so many favorable scouting reports saying he can move to the 3-4 coming out of college.

I wonder if Delanie Walker would be interested in coming to Cleveland. He's big enough to play fullback at 6'0 240, and has the receiving skills to fit in Turner's offense, which has a long history of throwing the football to not only the RB, but the FB as well.
