i know it's early, and that's the point, everyone always waits till after Free Agency to mock their draft to fill the holes left over, but What I say is blah to that...

Including FA and the Draft, what do you want YOUR 2013 Cleveland Browns to look like when they take the field?

Guidelines:
Go easy on the trades (It is the NFL afterall)
Only can sign current FAs (UFA RFA doesn't matter right now though)
Mock your rookies realistically (So no, can't have both Milliner and Moore)

I'm not saying keep it to 53, but if you start getting a little extreme, maybe it's time to make some cuts?

I'll start..

Free Agents in Italics
Draft Picks in Bold

QB: Brandon Weeden, Matt Moore, Thad Lewis
RB: Trent Richardson, Montario Hardesty, Brandon Jackson
FB: Brad Smelly
WR: Josh Gordon, Greg Little, Danny Amendola, Travis Benjamin, Jordan Norwood, Josh Cooper
TE: Fred Davis, Jordan Reed, Jordan Cameron
T: Joe Thomas, Mitchell Scwartz
G: Andy Levitre, Ryan Greco, Shawn Lauvao, Jason Pinkston, Ryan Miller
C: Alex Mack

DL: Phil Taylor, Athyba, Rubin, Billy Winn, John Hughes
OLB: Jabaal Sheard, Anthony Spencer, Chris Gocong, LJ Fort
MLB: D'Qwell Jackson, James Michael-Johnson, Craig Roberston
CB: Joe Haden, DeMarcus Milliner, Trevan Wade, Jordan Poyer, Buster Skrine
FS: Jairus Byrd, Usama Young
SS: TJ Ward, Sheldon Brown

K: Phil Dawson
P: Brad Wing

I'm at 46 now, Which basically means Josh Cooper and Jordan Norwood boxing match for Game Day Roster spot...

This was a lot harder than I thought, lack of a 2nd round pick is a killer... Free Agency isn't that great either... Plus we don't have as many "holes" as we used to, however they are currently only filled with potential, which makes replacing people seem pointless...

How did we get two first round cornerbacks?

The best free agent rush linebacker, free safety, guard, tight end, and slot receiver? That's a heck of a haul. Those five plus Moore is definitely pushing $40-$42 Mil.

I would be happy if we signed one of those guys let alone all the ones you mentioned.

A suspect we'll grab either Moore or DA (probably DA) at QB.

Then either a CB #2 or an OLB. I'd love to get a FS, not sure if they will do it.

Then draft for the remaining holes. Maybe pick up some lower quality FAs for backup roles.

What you listed is basically an ideal plan, but I don't think reality permits that many free agents.

Sounds a lot more like a wish list.. but that's cool.

I'm not ready for the draft at all.. have no ideas yet. I was just starting to get used to Heckert and now we don't know who's doing what.

Walterfootball.com has Poyer going from 2-4

We have a LOT of cash to spend, are we going to get everyone? No.

Spencer is old and isn't going to get that big of a deal, Davis just missed an entire season and will likely need a 1-2 year "show us" contract where ever he goes..

I do think we should throw a lot of money at Byrd and Amendola.

Brain fart..

I would be ecstatic if this were the roster, but I'm pretty sure it would be over what we are willing to spend.

Also what's with the Bills signing Williams to a gigantic contract one year and then letting two very good players hit the market the next?

Here's my stab at it. I tried to be realistic, but... If you don't see a player on here that is on the current roster, he was either a FA or he was cut. I didn't take the cuts salaries into consideration - but with the guesstimated salaries for each FA signing plus draft and filling out the remaining 2 positions would get us to the salary floor this year (give or take).

Only one trade - it may not be realistic because player for player trades are rare, but Colt McCoy and a conditional 2014 pick (4-7) to GB for Sam Shields makes sense. Shields played very well in 2011, but played less in 2012. He's RFA, so this gets GB something guaranteed in return for him. GB was rumored to have an interest in McCoy last year.

I used CBS current rankings for the draft. I got up to 51 players...52 if Pinkston can play. I didn't consider compensatory picks at all, as we don't know who gets what yet.

Free Agents in Italics
Draft Picks in Bold

3 QB: Brandon Weeden, Thad Lewis, Josh Johnson
3 RB: Trent Richardson, Montario Hardesty, Justin Forsett
1 FB: Brad Smelley
6 WR: Josh Gordon, Greg Little, Travis Benjamin, Josh Cooper, Denard Robinson (5) , Corey Fuller (6)
3 TE: Jordan Cameron, Ben Watson, Jordan Reed (3)
8 OL: Joe Thomas, Mitchell Schwartz, Ryan Greco, Shawn Lauvao, Oneil Cousins, Alex Mack, Ryan Miller, Brandon Moore

5 DL: Phil Taylor, Athyba Rubin, Billy Winn, John Hughes, Ishmaa'ily Kitchen
4 OLB: Jabaal Sheard, Chris Gocong, Antwan Barnes, Ezekiel Ansah (1)
4 MLB: D'Qwell Jackson, James Michael-Johnson, Craig Roberston, Larry Grant
6 CB: Joe Haden, Trevan Wade, Buster Skrine, Johnson Bademosi, Sam Shields, Blidi Wreh-Wilson (4)
4 S: Tashon Gipson, TJ Ward, Eric Hagg, Dashon Goldson

S/ST: Bubba Ventrone
K: Phil Dawson
P: Ryan Allen (7)
LS: Christian Yount
TBD: Jason Pinkston

Guesstmiated contracts (I researched current contracts, and estimated on silmilar contracts signed last year).
PK, Phil Dawson - 1 yr, 3.5m
CB Sam Shields, - 4 yr, 16m
QB, Josh Johnson - 2 yr, 4m
TE, Ben Watson - 3 yr, 12m
S/ST, Bubba Ventrone - 3 yr, 3m
LS. Christian Yount - 3yr, 1.5m
RB, Justin Forsett - 2 yr, 2m
FS, Dashon Goldson - 5 yr, 40m
OLB, Antwan Barnes - 2yr, 4m
ILB, Larry Grant - 2 yr, 4m
OG, Brandon Moore - 5 yr, 37.5m

That adds up to 35.5m in FA contracts

I actually considered Robinson at WR/KR, but I think we're set with Benjamin at PR and I don't see Denard as a pure KR.

If we didn't have Benjamin I'd think it'd be more likely.

I also think Watson is done.

Ezekiel Ansah is exactly the kind of BUST pick I expect Lombardi to make. I really think you're dead on with that pick.
