I think all that matters is what Weeden has shown, and what they project him to be able to do going forward.

Where he was drafted, and who he was drafted by doesn't(shouldn't) matter...

But then I look at who's in charge(Banner, Lombardi), and the common theme seems to be, what makes sense, is not likely what will be done...

Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

I agree, now that Weeden as a NFL season under him, old opinions don't hold much water anymore, so it's useless to bring those back and try to pin them on Lombardi or anyone else.

C'mon, Peen, can you think of one reasonably important opinion that you've formed in the past two years that has actually changed substantially because of something you learned after the opinion was first formed?

Probably not, if you're truthful. That's why the old saying, "First impressions matter" has validity. Sure, they COULD change their opinions of Weeden but does anyone actually think they will?

I think that is a different situation Otto. I don't think opinions on him pre draft hold as much with his current evaluation as does what they see on film from last year.

I know my opinion on players has changed one way or another from what I thought about them as college players v what I think about them once they become a pro.

I understand what you are saying but I hope Lombardi and company don't allow previous views to jade what is on the tape. The worst thing we can have is to have guys seeing what they want to see no matter which way it slants.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

I can attest that my opinion on trading three first round picks for RG3 went from 100% against to 95% for.

He really improved between his last snap in college and his first snap in the pros.

I would love, love to have him on this team.

I remember when I was one of only a couple of voices in the wilderness saying that RG3 would be worth 3 first round picks, plus a 2nd.

Man was I called some names.

In our defense, you deserved to be called those names regardless of the whole RG3 situation.

Well, perhaps.

Which is what I perceive may very well be part of the problem. I know what some of us, including myself wanted to see last season. Which was steady progress in Weeden as the season went along. In his mechanics, reading D's and his decision making.

No matter what type of O you run, these three things are essential in a QB. What I saw was a QB who seemed to improve to the half way point in the season, then either stagnated or even possibly went backwards.

The thing is, when studying those tapes, they may see exactly what they expected when their opinions were negative on Weeden from the very beginning.

I'm not for kicking Weeden to the curb after one season. I don't really see a great scenario for either drafting or signing a FA QB to fit this system during this off-season.

To me, that will play into keeping Weeden as the starter as much or more than anything Weeden actually accomplished on the field last year.

When looking at Weedens actual performance last year, combined with Lombardi's original opinion and factoring in that Weeden wasn't chosen as "their guy", IF he gets to start this year, I would expect they will have him on a very short leash as the best case scenario.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
