Gotta give props to my Alma Mat. Foles would give Weeden a run for his money. I havent forgotten what he did to us and a good group of teams as a rook, can't forget how outstanding he did against all those Pac teams also,go Cats, go Browns!!! Gotta love this aggressive approach of our new regime, they are putting their money where their mouth is!

I'd rather trade for Mallet.

All depends on what we're trading. If we're trading our number three and a two next year for Mallet, the guy better be good
Matt Cassel looked good, until he left the Pats and went to the Chiefs. Now he is a FA looking for a job.
I'm not very interested in trading for Ryan Mallet unless the guy is good. I'd rather wait and see who gets cut and who's out there. Carson Palmer? People have been mentioning Nick Foles, how many QBs can Philly keep now that they got Dennis Dixon over there, Mike Vick.

With KC getting Smith does that mean EVERY top rated QB falls to us barring a trade up by a team?
I'm starting to move towards the FO going for one of the top three.
Not exactly my wishes but I can see it happening now.

Palmer? No thank you, too old, he even sucked against us.
Nick Foles? Maybe, about what you get in Mallet, but possibly not quite as accurate.
Still rather have Mallet.

I liked Mallet in college, but found he was inconsistent. Huge arm, but accuracy that was just on and off
Then reports came out that he was kind of a thug. Not sure that's what I want in my QB

In 2010, with the Kansas City Chiefs, Cassel threw for 3,116 yards, 27 TDs, and 7 INTs. That is very, very good. The Chiefs also went 10-6 that year.
I still don't want Cassel, just had to point that out.

The nearly 4:1 TD:INT ratio is impressive. Everything else (total yards, yards per attempt, completion percentage) is totally pedestrian.

Cassell has almost only played 9 games in each of the last 2 seasons. His injury is the reason that Chefs fans had to watch Brady Quinn set back QB play by about 8 decades. Man ... I just looked up Quinn's play for last year. 10 games played, 8 starts ...... only 1141 yards passing ..... (142 yards/game, even if the partial games aren't counted) 2 TS, and 8 INT, and 5.79 yards/pass. He sucked even worse than I thought. Man. Joe Montana he's not.

I am an Arkansas fan, and I am really weary of Ryan Mallet. He moves about as well as Drew Bledsoe, but has one of the better arms I have ever seen. I noticed that he faded in big games, and was not the leader you would want for your team. That being said and for as little as I like them, the Pats have an uncanny ability in bringing the best out in players. The guy has all the physical skills (except for mobility) but, has his mental ability advanced enough since he left college? To be honest if I had to have an Arkansas QB it woyuld be Tyler Wilson. He is better than Mallet in everyway except arm strength. I don't know that was a better leader or tougher QB in college last year. He was behind the 8-ball all last year with the sorry excuse of a season the Razorbacks had. His O-line was aweful, but he would take the hit to complete the passes and he can throw on the run. He could use a little seasoning so when Weeden hits retiremnet age in like 2 years he should be ready.

At this point I think the Browns should just wait till next year and sell the farm for Brigewater or Manziel. The Browns would have to trade up into the top 3 though. Clowney is going 1, 2, or 3 depending who gets the top picks and needs QB.
Go Browns!!

That strategy does not work. Teams often drafting in the top three need a QB and are unwilling to trade the pick because they want to select the QB.
Also, other teams will be bidding for the pick if there is a surefire QB and the price will be astronomical.

I absolutely agree. I'd take Tyler Wilson over Mallet.
We haven't even seen Mallet play a game really. He has thrown 4 passes in his NFL career in the regular season.
How the heck do we know how this guy is gonna do? 3rd round, I'd rather have Tyler Wilson. Just seems like a safer call to me.

RGIII, Eli Manning, John Elway all beg to differ (that's just the ones I could think of the top of my head). Of course the price will be astronomical, similar to RGIII, but that's the price of doing business.
Go Browns!!

I didn't see it. I saw inconsistency. He'd make some great throws, then he'd make some bad ones and some bone headed decisions to go along with it.
And I started off liking the guy, so I watched a lot of Arkansas that year (two years ago?). I thought for sure he was a 1st round pick, but hten he had some bad games, and he threw some bad throws.
And as I said, there was news about him being a bit of a bad apple. Not a leader at all. A real jerk.

He lost the Alabama game one year at home. Razorbacks had the lead going into the 4th and Mallet threw two picks after the half. One was a poor decision, and one the man with the cannon arm could not muster enough ummff on the ball to get it all of the way out of bounds. It was aweful. Big games he just did not have the it factor.

Oh no. Please no Browns | Have interest in Jason Campbell Thu, 14 Mar 2013 11:40:56 -0700 The Cleveland Browns have expressed some interest in free-agent QB Jason Campbell (Bears), but it does not appear like an agreement is a strong possibility at this point. Nothing wrong with this. I want to see how Weeden does this season anyway. Campbell's been in the league for awhile, and a bad season with the Bears doesn't define his career.
Does his skillset really fit our offense? Not like a WCO might, but as a number 2 or 3 QB, sounds fine to me. I think we'll be trading for or drafting a QB in due time anyway

The real juicy question is, is Jason better than Seneca Wallace? I think I may rather bring Seneca back instead of Jason if we are going to aim low...

But Jason Campbell didn't even begin starting games for the Redskins until his second season.
I'm definitely not ready to give up on Weeden in favor of Campbell
As for Seneca, I love that guy. Always was pissed we put Delhomme out there after that first game. I think I'd prefer Jason Campbell though. Just someone new, longer resume, and Wallace wasn't really on a team in 2012 after we cut him. Is he ready to come back?
I'd rather have Jason Campbell and some young guy. May be Nick Foles will become available

If we sign Jason Campbell, the definition of an average QB, and he beats out Weeden, then Weeden has no future in the league.

That's what I'm thinking. This is definitely a make or break year for Weeden, that's why I wouldn't mind a QB with our 3rd rounder, that or try and get Nick Foles if he's somehow available (and with a third round pick). There's QBs out there to be had in the third round of the draft. Tyler Wilson, Tyler Bray, Landry Jones, Mike Glennon.
If Geno Smith somehow looks like a superstar, I wouldn't mind him either
