Thanks for posting those. There is some really interesting stuff, and some fascinating insight in there.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

Good one
Did you miss the part that Lurie and Banner don't talk anymore, pretty much hate each other and exchange accusations through the media? Banner even saw himself urged to release a pree text to deny a Lurie accusation regarding the Chip Kelly process

So Lurie slowly demoted Banner giving control to Roseman and Reid, then recommended him for "the powers that be" job here? That is fuzzy math at best.

It's funny around here. If an article says what a poster wants it to say it's suddenly gospel. If a writer reports things a poster doesn't want to here, they're a hack.
Any time someone phases a man out of a job only to turn around and recommend him for that same job or even a higher position, would that make sense to you?

Again, "hearty recommendations" in a tough business= lol...if you think you have an ace or weapon on your side, who gives you a competitve "edge"...why would you ever fire him and then recommend him to one of your competitors? or why would you not even hire him for a scout job for over 5 years (Belly-Lombardi) Let's say you dump your girlfirend....would you recommend her to your friends or to your enemies? Tough one, I know Taking the article "literally" is naive at best, it's still pretty clear that they don't see eye to eye anymore, and even long before the Chip Kelly rift...btw, the "source" probably was Lombardi, lol...kindergarden style

well from the article it stated this Quote:
Lurie said at the time that it was all part of a 2-year executive succession plan that was fully endorsed by Banner. Said his friend of 40-plus years was looking for "one more challenge."..........
Banner said he basically became expendable.
"We had been planning for a while for the promotions of Don [Smolenski] and Howie [Roseman]," he said. "Jeff and I knew they were really good, and that at some point, we would get to the point where there wasn't room for everybody. And that was the reality. That was what happened."

so true so true. that's exactly why i said let the spin begin. it appears that you and i have read the same exact article and came away with two different meanings. i'm only quoting what was actually said by the parties saying it. i didn't read anything into it , add anything to it, or quote somebodys sources.

And there were checks and balances in place so he couldn't be by his own best friend. That's why he's here. so he can be "the power freak".
We'll just have to see how that pans out won't we?
In every organization someone has to be the final shot-caller, the guy who is the tie-breaker. With the Eagles he had control over a chunk of the process. He's been given a promotion and now how final veto power over most of it.
If the entire talk of consensus is a sham, then Banner is a dictator and it's dangerous ground. If, however, consensus is really how it's going to play out, then it's smart.
Someone has to be the tie-breaker. I like this setup much better than having The Walrus outwardly confessing that it was Heckert's show...right up until it was time to throw his weight around and do whatever he wanted to do.

It's also been reported that the two had a public spat in January. Not sure if this alludes to the actual media back-and-forth over Kelly, or as a direct result of it. Either way, they are not on good terms.

I didn't know every word of articles written by the press were suddenly gospel around here but if that's your take, so be it. It is well known there was quite a falling out between Banner and Lurie. Once again, at some point I think people need to consider common sense. If you have someone you consider to be so great at a job, and they are supposed to be a life long friend, you don't replace them with other people unless you consider those people to be better at the job. He became expendable because there were other people better qualified for the job. That's basic corporate structure. Of course we can all just buy an article word for word if you're so inclined, but it's obvious you don't replace someone with inferior people if you want to win in this league. Of course I know, that isn't in the article.

Did you miss the article...which was dated three days ago...where Banner and Lurie hung out after Lurie's golf game, and that Joe stated they've gotten past the sniping about Roseman?
Let me help you with that:
Quote:
Now, Banner said he and Lurie have talked things out and are buds again.
"It's good," he said. "I spent some time talking with him the other day. I was with him after he played golf. We were commiserating about how he played.
"[Our relationship] is different [now]. We were together for 18 to 19 years. Now we talk occasionally, text occasionally. So it's different, but it's friendly.
"We've been friends for 44 years. We've been too close for too long to let a moment like that change the long history that we have."

See, even after a power struggle and being demoted, they still decided to end up making nice. Now.

Thanks KNOX
Ok I got an open mind...as I said I always was under the impression that Reid had the POWER last say on Personnel.
So Any of you Banner made all these bad draft pick SPINNERS - can you Prove it...are are you saying this due to some AGENDA...here I'm thinking Vers is Paranoid... Now I'm wondering...Come on dawgs. I can go either way HONESTLY...actually with no visual on our plan...I was a Big Time These guys Suck n Oh no Doom n Gloom but once I saw things enfolding...I like it more n more.
But this (I THINK) Fictitious - Banner ruined the Eagles with personnel move (of course just the negative ones...lol ) . Supposedly that article shared by Knox was not from a fan of Banner. But you guys say THIS n THAT as if its FACT. Sometimes I think you do have an AGENDA n are FULL OF IT
But I would happily give you all a "MY BAD" if you can actually prove what you preach... Just saying.

You know, I've heard this before,, his lifelong friend fires him and that makes him bad..
Now what's truly funny about that is, no matter how good a person is or how hard they work, if they stay in the same place too long, they can get stale. It gets old and they lose their edge as well as their zest for the job.
Sometimes a change of scenery is what's required.
I mean, I don't know if that's what happened but I do know that can happen. Actually been there myself once.

Of course Tab, one article changes everything. This has been entertained here well before your return with articles showing both sides at great length. I don't feel like searching it all back down because someone was late to the party. You go with your view and I'll stick with mine and we'll see how this all pans out. I guess if you want to actually see both sides, it's not hard to google. I've already been there and done that.

Good videos. I like the build a team don't just collect talent and bot to overwhelm rookies with by telling them to learn the whole playbook all at once. Give them a little at a time and advance as they learn (completely opposite what Shurmur did).
Let's hope Lombardi reviews these videos as a refresher for himself.

So what you are saying is...YOU HAVE Already Proven this...Like Ages ago (what 6months ago) so you prefer being called Fiction then actually produce an article or two??? Come on man That ain't the PIT I know...you were in the right no way you back off with - YOU WEREN'T HERE or I ALREADY PROVED IT N TOO LAZY TO PROVE IT AGAIN???
Basically you are saying...I am correct or Knox n his article is correct as it goes without being contested I guarantee you Django is scouring the Internet for Articles...lol
JMHO n man you got lazy. Otay you get to state opinion as fact with a I PROVED IT n YOU WERE NOT HERE...like we didn't have this discussions on the other board only with 4000 more posters...Come on Man.
No, basically I'm saying I'm tired of doing homework over and over again for people because they are too lazy to even attempt to look at both sides of things for themselves. That they'd rather be followers and promote everything every new FO that rolls into town does without going and looking at both sides of the evidence for themselves. But, since you'd rather have people show you the other side without you even doing it on your own, here are some tid bits for you......

There are a LOT of such articles and as I say, yes they do go both ways. So just because I didn't want toi do your homework for you, since you would rather blindly support everything that walks through the door in Berea rather than actually be at least somewhat objective as to it could easily go both ways?
Don't blame me for your blind homerism. It's proven to pay off for you SO WELL since 1999 hasn't it?
Oh, and yes, Haslam writes the checks for those who suggest that he is running the show. People need to remember, Haslam also resigned from being the CEO of Pilot Flying J to be "more hands on here". How long did that last?

So just like Al Lerner was the owner of the Browns at the same time, he was the CEO of a credit card empire. Now we have an owner that is the CEO of a giant truck stop chain.
Banner runs this team just like Holmgren did while Haslam is running Pilot flying J. Now you can read words people say, or you can look at the reality of a situation.
Much like with Holmgren, unless Banner really botches things up for a while, he runs the show here. No ifs ands or buts about it. The situation is very similar to what we just had that failed.
So to all of you blind followers that believe quotes from an article where everyone wants to be PC and say all of the right things, while ignoring all of the evidence in front of you, have at it.
You keep putting lipstick on a pig....... But it's still a pig.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

It's just really pretty simple. When people in power speak, they say what they want you to hear. But when you sit and look at things from both sides, it rarely adds up to have the appearance of being accurate.
I'm not sure which side of this is accurate. but I do believe that as in most cases, the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
I also see yet another owner who gives a much better press conference than the last one, is much better in front of the camera, but also after resigning from Pilot Flying J as the CEO, turned right around and resumed that role.
So am I leery about what we are told here? Yes I am. Banner is running this team. Like I said, if he botches it up bad enough, for long enough, he will be replaced. But Lerner did that too. I'm not seeing this huge contrast everyone seems to be painting here.
