String together a few wins in the tournament and they'll get respect.

Small ball lineup hasn't been figured out yet. Put the clamps on everyone. I love our defense.

I just did my own bracketology.
I have Middle Tennessee and Boise State out.
I have Kentucky (I'm begging) and wait for it....
The Iowa Hawkeyes in.

If you compare the resume to Middle Tennesse, Boise State, LaSalle, etc. there's no reason they should be out, honestly.

Middle Tennessee getting is is a joke. What part of their resume says they should get in? LOSING to tough teams out of conference? Kentucky lost to Notre Dame, Louisville, and Duke out of conference ... Are they going to put us in for LOSING those games?

Why?
Don't you want your team to make it to the national championship?

I do! But what better way to get there than to settle this straight up who's better. Harvard doesn't have the size to match up against our bigs and only go 5 deep so I don't see them being a problem. Arizona will be tough, but beatable. SHOULD we beat you and see Gonzaga, they are almost a mirror image of us.
Good luck Buckeyes! Hope to see ya in a couple of weeks

Before it's all said and done, we're gonna need Amir to play like a man and use his size in at least one game. Right now he's the softest player we have. I think everyone else will find a way to contribute. Laquinton has really stepped up off the bench in the tourney.

I'm just gonna micro manage our sections. Iona can score a ton of points and like to jack up 3's. However they are awful as hell defensively. Could be good opportunity for Lenzelle to get hot.
Iowa State and Notre Dame is interesting. Notre Dame gives up 3's but nothing inside. Iowa State is tough as nails.
I feel we're better than these teams, but it won't be easy.

Buckeyes couldn't have drawn up a better region for themselves. If they don't get out of it, they'll have noone to blame but themselves.

Gotta take my hat off to Thad for this coaching job this year. I was one of many who were critical of him.
I wasn't calling for his job or anything, just making an observation.
Hope this run turns into something similar that UConn did a few years ago where they rode momentum to a championship.
I wouldn't pick them to win, but they are playing their best ball right now, and got a pretty good draw.
Filling out a bracket this year is going to be tough. So many ways to go. This thing is definitely up for grabs.

Ohio state is uconn from a couple years ago. I feel like after uconn won it all I looked back and thought "of course they won it all, they were hot at end of year and ran through the tourney in best conference in the country and carried that right into ncaa tourney."
I just get the feeling that OSU was a little underrated at the end of the year (ranked relatively low in AP despite being 2nd in B10). Now they got a 2 seed in a bracket with questionable gonzaga. They are fantastic on defense, and guys around thomas are steppin up. It's gonna take a red hot 3 point performance and a cold d thomas to beat them

Not a single team from the whole state of Texas in the field... that's sort of hard to believe.

This might be OSU's best shot in the Thad era, if you think about it. I'm not saying they are the best team since he took the job, but it seems like everyone else has come down to their level. Everyone is flawed. Even if OSU beats Kansas last year, there is no way in hell they beat UK. The year they lost that thriller with UK, I don't think they would have won it all. This year, I think they can beat anyone, and anyone can beat them, as far as legit contenders go.
They have looked ugly at times, but they do have some really nice wins, including that one at Indiana, and I thought they played a really really tough game at Cameron Indoor back in the beginning of the year.

I have to agree this Buckeye team is just tough enough to win it all ... JMHO

I'm just excited for the opening weekened. Thursday morning to Sunday evening....tracking upsets, watching all the last-second shots and checking your bracket against others in the world or your friends. Good times, good times.
I've always wanted to be in Vegas for the opening weekend. I think it would be crazy fun.
As for the basketball itself, its very sloppy. Some games play out like a 3-pt contest with a free throw shootout to end them. And I'm getting very sick of all the charging calls. But hey, no sport is perfect.
Maybe an odd thread to do this in, but here are the one things I'd change in each sport if I could:
NFL - Running into and roughing penalties for QBs. Sometimes it's worthy of a 5-yarder, just not a 15-yarder. MLB - Instant Replay on the bases NHL - Outlaw fighting (or make stiffer penalties for fighting) NBA - Flopping penalties more harsh (though, the NBA is trying) NCAA BB - 24 second shot clock NCAA FB - Dump that awful celebration rule. They're kids, let them have fun.

I'm jacked about the squares pool I got into. Can win money on every single game.
Just got invited to a bracket contest too. Was a little worried because there wasn't a work pool this year.

This tournament is definitely about getting hot at the right time.. it's is also about versatility... you have to be able to win more than one way because you are going to play 6 teams and if you are only good at one thing, whether it's running or 3 pointers or defense.. but are average to weak in other areas, eventually you are going to run into a team that is able to take that one thing away and you better be able to rely on something else.
Not to mention, this year more so than most, I expect some early upsets.. some of the higher seeds are going to get an "easier" road because of early upsets...

WSJ is doing a blind bracket where you don't know the name of the school, you just pick based on resume. Pretty cool. http://projects.wsj.com/blindfold-brackets-2013/

I think that Ohio State could just wind up wining the whole darn thing this year.
There really are no teams without flaws, and tOSU has had to fight their way through a very tough and balanced conference. They are playing their best basketball at exactly the right time.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

Our only problem is facing big guys with a post game. Length isn't the problem exactly because our guys know how to finish strong and we don't rely on jump shots. We also have foot speed and fundamentally sound rebounders. However on defense we will struggle with inside post presence because DT can't defend. Gonzaga will be a problem.

Is anyone picking Davidson over Marquette?
I'm looking at the spreads for every game, and that one, despite being a 3v14, is only Marquette -3.5
