Cardinals released FS Kerry Rhodes.
The move saves Arizona $6 million against the cap. Rhodes was entering the final year of his deal. In December, the two sides were even talking about a two-year extension. Rhodes had a phenomenal season in 2012, as he was stout versus the run and in coverage. However, he turns 31 years old in August, and the veteran purge around the league continues. It's a buyer's market for defensive backs.

Good for Cribbs. Good Luck and thanks for the thrills, wished you had kept your mouth shut a few times,

My sentiments exactly. I wish him the best, but I'm not horribly upset that he's gone.

I agree. Ogbonnaya does everything pretty well. He's a good blocker. He's a very good receiver, and he is a very capable runner.

I'm glad to have him back.

Same here. I wish we had played him more; he always seems to come up with the tough yardage...

Anyone know since we resigned Obi today...if his deal includes any guaranteed money? I think Obi might be insurance back if Hardesty is injured...but was hoping we added a quick scat back

Kaluka Maiava - LB - Raiders

Raiders signed OLB Kaluka Maiava, formerly of the Browns, to a three-year, $6 million contract.

Always liked Maiava and his hustle, he wasn't a 'playmaker' but you could see him trying at least, and I appreciate that kind of attitude. Best of luck to him, except against us.

Other than draft or possible competition for last spots, it looks like our front 7 could be set. DT/DE - Rubin, Taylor, Bryant, Hughes, Winn, Kitchen (possibly upgraded?). LB - Kruger, DQ, Groves, Sheard, JMJ, Gocong, Robertson, Fort, Carder... all depends on how many they want to keep and other moves. I see at least 1 or 2 being brought in via free agency or draft. maybe another pass rusher since you can never have too many.

Now we still need a CB. If Millner falls to 6 (and we dont trade out) then I would draft him. The need for multiple good to solid CBs is more important than ever in the pass happy NFL.

Still need at least 2 saties as well.

I know it isn't a 1 year fix but hopefully it is better than the recent years.

Im hoping Rhodes is on our radar. I think, despite his age, that Rhodes would be a good addition. Especially since Quin and Goldson are signed.

How are the Browns gonna win without Kaluka Maiava? This is what I'm talking about, this is the kind of thing that makes me angry. They do 10 things wrong and only one thing right.
They let Cribbs go. They let Watson go, aparently, now they let Maiava go?

These guys don't know what they're doing. Everyone on this BOARD, knows that you don't sign a front 7 player to 8 million a year, unless they are one of the top players in the NFL.

Anyone remember Lavar Arrington's production?
New Gm, Bad idea
New Coordinators, Bad idea, Bad idea.
Signing Paul Kruger? Good GRIEF that's a bad idea. (Where is the face palm emoticon?)

Signing some other ? on the front 7 , oh no! and his last name is Bryant. We already have memory of another one of those.

WE know how this plays out. We've seen this before, ... low production, injuries, Cap trouble, old age, and the team is worst than it was at first.

Can you keep the team together? What is there to root for? The freaking LOGO? How many years until this team learns this lesson? How many more groups of (name calling) have to come through town and leave 3 yrs later and violate Browns fans in the process?

Nothing the team has done since Haslem bought it has looked like they have a clue.
The only thing they've done right is keep Ogbonnaya. ( silent GEE!, )

I"m so sick and tired of the roster turnover.
Why do I complain so much? What do I want? I want a team with an identity, and a glimmer of hope, win or lose... that sticks together.

They haven't had that, without major turnover, for more than 2 and a half years, since the 1980's.
The 1980's! That's a LIFETIME!

and here they go doing it again. Are you Kidding.

You can't win a championship in the offseason, but you can sure lose it. They have ensured a losing record in 13-14 with these decisions they make, and by the time they learn their lesson, they will leave town and some other (name) will be running the team.
But they'll still be wearing orange, they'll still be called the Browns, they'll still be in Cleveland. Oh JOY!

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

These guys are making me miss Kendall Storm.

At least his back handed smack comments made some sort of sense.

Where ya been the last three years? What we had wasn't working. If you were put in charge and did the same things the last regime did, then you have about as much chance at success as they did.

And again, I still haven't seen where Josh signed with anyone else..

I also haven't seen where Ben Watson signed with anyone else.

I may have missed it.. Did either sign with anyone?

Josh has signed, or at least is very close, with Arizona.

Cribbs has lost a step, can't always hang onto players no matter how great they are.

I would have liked to have kept Maiava tho. A versatile LB who has played 3-4 and 4-3 but eh, it's not that big of a deal IMO.

I don't get it would not pay $6 mil a year for Welker but will for Amendola?

I mean Welker claimed he was low balled by NE and took 2 and 12 from Denver, so NE gives Amendola 5 and 31?

This will be interesting.
There has been a debate on here about whether a good QB can protect a WR,anf a bad QB can get him killed.
Amendola has only played in 12 games the past 2 years due to injury. If he stays healthy playing with Brady, one would to believe that Bradford was killing the poor kid.

Didn't Amendola tear his ACL? I don't think that can be blamed on Bradford either way.

Yeah, I was wondering about the age difference.

If Amendola can stay healthy, I bet he can fill the void fairly well and for a longer window.

Ballsy move by BB IMO
