That apostrophe. Oh, the irony.

Yep, spelling and grammar, it's what separates the people who know their crap from the people who know they're crap.

yeah, who doesn't like Alex Smith? he's a bubble-roster guy, but he was always a pro's pro and did everything and anything the coaches asked of him. everybody should love guys like that.

Are you kidding me he had to be the worst running back we ever had on the Browns

thnx GM

For what its worth this was from Chud:
“I know Gary very well from my time in Carolina, and feel that he will be a good addition to our tight end group,” said Browns Head Coach Rob Chudzinski. “He has worked hard to develop as both a blocker and a receiver. His familiarity with our offense will give him the opportunity to make a smooth transition with us. In Carolina, he also stood out on our special teams unit, and should be an integral part of that phase here with the Browns.”

That's a pretty nice contract for someone who's never done anything.

Puts him right between Jabaal Sheard and Josh Gordon for cap hit this year.

Rookie contracts -vs- vet contract?

My thoughts exactly. For a vet contract, a mil a year isn't that much these days.

As far as worth, we won't know until games start. As far as we know, he could be the next Gronk!

He's a 5th rounder who has played in 62 games, has 18 receptions, and 1 TD. We sign this guy for $1.25 million a year and give him a $650k signing bonus? But we won't pay Cribbs $2 million? Holy crap. I'm not liking this at all...

Only irony seen you made four post and contribute nothing regarding football.

If you go back and reread Tab's post, you'll find his definition of a "Bozo!" If you want to learn something about football and can get past a few deficiencies, I suggest you read Tab's post.

1. I didn't know Bozo/s was in a dictionary as in a real word to have a correct spelling.

2. You mean my use of the possessive ' . Sorry I do miss the irony cause I don't relate BOZO to grammar especially on a Football message board

3. If you know me from the other board n just starting anew with some hate...shame. But just in case you are just New to message boards in general...my usage of the term Bozo is in no way n form towards fellow Posters. It is my terminology for Sports Journalists who usually paint with a broad stroke n do not spend the time investigating teams that don't interest them such as the Browns. It is towÐrds their shoddy Journalism (not Grammer/Spelling) where I use that - so its not me insulting a poster.

I also use the terminology Talking Heads for TV analyst. Its just my endearment to these "SPORTS EXPERTS" who get paid n don't know squat about our Browns.

But again - love the PURE FOOTBALL you contributed on this subject matter.

BOZO's BOZOS...I'm typing fast but glad I was able to oblige you in some Irony

It's more complicated than that, Dean.

Cribbs flat-out stated he has a big problem with us if he isn't playing a big role on offense. Why would the new FO want to even bother signing a player who is going to continue a history of acting up through the media when he doesn't get his way when that player has eroding skills while playing a position which has been heavily devalued by a change in NFL rules?

Barnidge looks like a core special-teams player who may become our 3rd TE. Cribbs wasn't a great gunner anymore so Barnidge replaces him. My real question is whether or not he can block, because NONE of our TE's could do that last year.

I thought that I read an article that said that Barnbridge was a solid blocker type, who hadn't had many opportunities to catch the ball.

As far as Cribbs role goes ..... his role has already been taken by Bademosi, Robertson, Fort, Carder, Gipson, and guys like that. Guys like Wade and Winn contributed on teams. (Especially Bademosi. Remember in years past when Cribbs would be the first guy down the field on coverage? Last year that guy was very frequently Bademosi) There is a reason that Cribbs role diminished on coverage units, and that he only had 9 special teams tackles ..... and that's that he slowed down while younger and faster guys stepped up. Cribbs is still a valuable guy, but he became less valuable on coverage units as other guys got better ,,,,,, and he became less valuable as a returner as Benjamin showed that he could, at least, handle punt return duties.

Can my agent call your agent to see if we can work out a deal on leasing your signature space? I have a low low mileage '98 Lincoln I've been trying to sell and nobody wants a V-8 any more.

My dad had a '98 Lincoln. It was like gliding down the road on a sofa, hehe. Can't lease the space as I've just thought of how I want to use it. In the past I've put players in there I wanted off the team and it's always worked. I wonder if the opposite would work...

I like your wish list, except that Grimes is a CB, not a C.

LOL Sure .... good excuse.

If we just got Grimes and Huff I would be ecstatic. I doubt that we're going to look at Dansby, mainly because of age. He's 32 .... and doesn't seem to fit the profile of players they are going after. Huff is 30, and that may disqualify him ..... but I do like him as a player quite a bit. Grimes was great at one time, but he's been injury plagued the past couple of years, missing a combined 19 games.

However, I don't have a problem with adding a few older veterans if we can back them up with promising youngsters who can learn, and eventually displace them.

I fully agree that it would be out of character for these guys to take on older players, but with this much cap-space, a desire to win quickly, and some serious holes still remaining, I'm holding out hope they'll make an exception or two.

Like I said, I would love to see Huff brought in as he would be a huge upgrade at a position of dire need.

Grimes might be a solid signing, but I wonder how he is recovering. He was once a really top end corner, and he has gone unsigned while all kinds of other corners come off the market. I wonder how his recovery is going.

I don't see Dansby fitting in here, but he would be a solid ILB for our defense. However, I think that the Browns the guys they have there, and are looking for a long term solution there.

As far as Campbell goes ...... he might be OK ....... if we have an opening for a water boy. lol

+1 the addition of a couple players who are good-very good would be a welcome addition to this team...Huffs versatility is a huge plus...being able to play CB in a pinch is huge for a safety
