So i've been reading on espn today that Bears are moving on. I know Urlacher is in his twilight and that his back is in questionable state with arthritis, but can he/would he still be able to perform at a starting level? Ive been a fan of his for a long time and depending on what he wants money wise which i couldnt find at all, id love to see him next to DQ. (Just dreaming a little sorry guys). But seriously though, whats your opinion on this whole thing?

Of course he can perform at a starting level. Brian has always been a good cover LB (I think he use to be a safety? correct me if i'm wrong), his experience has his instincts to a T which helps balance his losing of a step or two in speed but the real deal is can he remain healthy?

As I said in the Free Agency thread, some team running a 4-3 will pick him up and get two-three serviceable years from him.

Being in Chicago, I see this guy all the time. Believe me, we don't want him. Aside from him not fitting in our proposed system, he's running very low on talent and is looking to cash in on his name one last time.

The Bears of all people know this. That's why they offered him a 1yr/$2 million deal. He was always talking a to the media about how he wasn't paid enough. BS. He's just jealous the Bears sold 970,000,000 jerseys with his name on it. He was paid very well for all his years here.

And now he's running to the media again to complain how he was treated recently by the Bears. Hey Urlacher, they don't HAVE to want you. They don't HAVE to pay you legacy money to stay on the payroll and retire with them. You're old, slow and always injured. Bye.

It's funny, when a player is young and great, they want to be an URFA to use their leverage to get the biggest and best contract they can (I don't blame them). But when they're older and slower, they want to use the "I'm a lifelong <insert team name here>, I don't want to leave. Now pay me more than anyone else will because my name means more to you and our fans." And when the owners say no, the player get redassed and talks about loyalty.

The players forget, leverage can sometimes change hands.

IMO, he needs to retire.

I'll be shocked if he doesn't retire.

Live in Champaign and agree with Punch, we do not need him. However, I would be on the phone with the Bears looking to try and swing a deal for DQ. He was serviceable in our old 3-4 but has had stellar years these last two in the 4-3. With our switch back to the 3-4 and his last two years his stock might not ever be higher than it is now. jmo

Was going to speak on this but you've already said it.

Urlacher's knees are shot. Watching him run last year was just painful.

Why on Earth would we invest a couple of million dollars in a 35-year old linebacker who went to Germany for some experimental procedure, that ultimately didn't work, leading to a scope that created a hobbling player?

Urlacher was over-shadowed by Ray Lewis over the last 14-years but he was as good as it got in the NFL. This version of Urlacher? Just a shadow of his former self.

This looks like Tony Dorsett in a Bronco's uniform...

***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy.

The only way I would want this guy in the AFC North is if the steelers or ravens sign him to a five year deal.

With the switch to a Tampa-2, I could see Dallas overpaying here possibly...if they have any room.

No doubt, he's been a media whore this last week or so. Pathetic. As much as he ripped the Bear's fans, I don't even think they wanted him back...

Looks like the Bear's organization didn't even care to give him a heads up on his release. Sounds like there is much hate in the air with Brian.
